Nope nope nope...looks like Willy Wonka, the Mad Hatter, the Undertaker. He should be wearing an Easter Bunny costume instead.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:38 PM) :

Costumey, yes- but the cut of the coat is beautiful!

Nice ascot or whatever the shiny black thing is around his neck

A bit costumey/Mad Hatter/undertaker, but I love the ascot! It's an accessory that makes me smile when I see it.

Haven't seen a tophat in a quite a while. One of the first mens dressing items where form did not follow function? I think...tax collector.

I think he looks quite like Neil Tennant.

I think the look is a bit too "horse drawn carriage"

Well, I hate to go against prevaling wisdom, but how often do you see someone wearing a men's dress suit from the early 1900s so well? All too often, when people wear vintage clothing, no matter the quality, they look like dead clothes walking. For those who care about vintage men's clothing, his look was revelation in how to dress vintage. From collar to cravat to cuff, he managed to bring life to a late Victorian look that often comes across as rigid and stodgy.
That said, I hope that next year he's greeted with a 90-degree day to fully inhabit the turn of the century experience.

The cut of the coat is perfect and the silk plush top hat is exquisite. If I wanted to wear the two with out that 19th century feel I would go with a rep tie and a wide spread or a laydown collar or wear the hat with a strollar jacket and the propper hickory pants using modern acesseories. his look is all in good fun and at least he did it with pinpoint accurracy for the true victorian gentlmen born a tad too late.
