Saks Fifth Avenue Windows for The Sartorialist

I am humbled by the fantastic windows Saks Fifth Avenue has dedicated to The Sartorialist this week. We had a few general conversations about ideas for the display but I was pleasantly shocked to see what a wonderful job they did.

Thanks Tim, and ,as always, thanks iMac.

That is a GREAT display...i only wish I could walk by it and see it all in detail. Was the text from your posts printed on the photos or on the windows? Either way, it looks AMAZING!!! Congratulations!!

When you announced that you were doing windows with Saks I couldn't imagine how they were going to tie you in and make it work. Well, I'm impressed. They look great. And, the mix of photos of real people and the clothes on display really gives the message that,"Yes, you can wear these and heres how". I think it is very encouraging to men to try something new. Great job!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:39 PM) :

Wow Sart , very proud of you !!!

Those displays are awsome , I imagine how wonderful for you this can be , congrats !!!!

Love you always ,

Pata.

They look great, I hope you are as proud of them as we are of you!
The photo on the bottom is still one of my all time favorites on your site. I'm glad they managed to use it for their display.

A wonderful tribute to you, and it emphasizes that you have become the fashion photo-chronicler of this era. Here's what I want: a coffee-table book, with the page size of W Magazine, containing a fabulous compendium of your work! When, when, when will such a tome be available? xxxooo

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:12 PM) :

ok, i love the way these windows look, but i have to ask... do the people in the photos know that they're appearing in these displays? if i were one of your street subjects (which would only happen in my dreams, but still) i would be thrilled, but then i don't know if i would want saks building a mannequin out of what i was wearing.

is that totally obnoxious? really, i'm just wonderng the answer to my initial question, sart. either way, the windows look beautiful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:20 PM) :

me like:)

Hi! I'm from Argentina but I was in NY for the past week and got the chance to see the windows in person. What an amazing display!

I check your blog often and was thrilled to witness the stylish city that NY is, wish i could've stayed longer though :( It felt good seeing brilliant outfits just walking out the door.

Blogger Gudl said ... (5:56 PM) :

Congratulations on your success!
As they say in Germany: Weiterhin viel Erfolg!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:53 PM) :

This is stunning . . . absolutely amazing. I love it. Has anyone recognized himself in the window yet?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:08 PM) :

Art imitating life imitating art. Or is it the other way around? No matter, it's crazy beautiful.

Your family must give you pats on the pats and cheek kisses daily!

mltt.

Did you ever imagine that your way of presenting street style would become so 'the right thing at the right time'? I think people love fashion and love seeing what other people wear but what I appreciate most is the way you present it, high/low journalism, a point of view among many that champions how to make the extraordinary a pleasure.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:19 AM) :

Amazing, Sart! I'm very happy for you, congratulations!

But just a question, do you need permission from those people to use their picture? They are just random people from the street right?

Blogger Julia said ... (2:21 AM) :

Oh it is BRILLIANT! The biggest congrats! Thanks for posting the pics!

When I saw these pictures, I felt genuinely happy for you that such a well known fashion institution used your pictures as an inspiration for their photos. Congrats for that.

It seems like just as how you appreciated fashion on the street, so have the fashion houses because of your work.I enjoy how your photos manage to capture fashion in such an honest way. But more importantly it's how you captured the spirit of NYC with those photos. Makes me want to visit it. Keep it up :)
