Now this kicks ass. Is that suit black or chocolate? The pinstripe works very well on his frame. The silhouette slightly de-emphasizes (is that even a word?) the arms but given the slim trousers, it works together very well.

Blogger YFYF.org said ... (9:35 AM) :

O, and the solid navy tie and large, slightly arched collar? Very Italian. It wouldn't surprise me if there were some finer textural (and is that a word?) detail to the tie as well.

Blogger Fine Haberdashery said ... (9:36 AM) :

The fit of the suit is perfect. Love the color of the shoes against the dark suit.

In a word: sharp!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:50 AM) :

oh, i lurve this look -- the colors are smashing, he's fab.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:02 AM) :

Wow, what a great look. Sometimes the bold pinstripes can be too much but it looks great here on the wool suit. But I think overall, the fit of the suit and the great brown shoes are what makes this pop.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:07 AM) :

Nice suit and shoes - they fit quite well. However, the overall look is somehow boring, the guy should have added some color, e.g. paisley handkerchief. In any event, a big watch is never appropriate and will (hoepfully) never be considered classy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:23 AM) :

very well tailored look, i like how striking the pinstripes are.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:46 AM) :

We've seen him before, no? The pinstripes seem so English, but the cut, Italian (right?). It's like a hybrid of awesome. No cuff? Though I guess no cuff lets him show off that monster of a watch.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:48 AM) :

Beautiful fit and the stripes really do their magic on a pretty short guy. The shoes elegantly frame the suit. I don't know if it's the weather but here in Stockholm most people simply murder their suits with large, bulky shoes.

I like his style!

Not every guy could do this suit but this guy can.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:25 AM) :

He always looks great and this is no exception. I like the slimmer trouser cut and it looks good even though his upper body isnt skinny. The pinstripes help lengthen his look as well. The proportions look good and the dark brown shoes are a nice highlight.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:35 AM) :

Now there's a man who screams exclusivity and unattainability with his entire persona. And yet you'd just want to snuggle against him. Talking of eternal mysteries. Redundant to say how sharp he looks.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:38 AM) :

good gosh amighty, is that Jean Reno? What a sterling looking fellow!

Blogger Max said ... (11:47 AM) :

Wow, they matched the pinstripes on the lapel.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:57 AM) :

Very excellent!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:18 PM) :

There's a bit of pimp daddy hiding in those stripes.

While I don't particularly fancy the style, it does suit him in so much as helping to make him appear more slender.

One of the many wonderful things about this site is seeing that, amongst the bland or downright bad, there really are an enormous number of well-dressed men and women walking around New York!

Blogger Butch said ... (12:31 PM) :

Oooops, I now see this is a two-button number. But the top button placement still strikes me as too high for this gent....

Blogger Claudio Moro said ... (12:47 PM) :

Sei grande, Domenico. :-)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:24 PM) :

I really like the look (although if I were to be nit-picky I'd say he isn't showing enough cuff and his left shoulder seems to have a bit of excess fabric?? But those are very minor quibbles indeed.)

Having both plain and distinctly stiped stuits, I can attest to how much more self-confidence is needed to wear the stripes ... so well done!

The one thing I'm curious about is what appears to be at least a 3" cuff on his trousers. The tailors and stylists I consult usually encourage plain bottoms on (presumably he is wearing) flat-front trousers, and IF cuffs, about 1.5" or 1.75" at the most. Now, maybe this fellow's cuffs are the latest 'in thing' and I'm just in a fashion backwater, or maybe he's doing his own individual thing, but hopefully someone out there can satisfy my curiosity about the massive cuff question ... I'm not saying his look is bad; it's fine. I just want to know if I'm looking at an individual quirk or part of a trend.

Nice to see a definite SMILE again, Sart. You seemed to hit a run of frowners and stoics of late ... but everyone loves a smile.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:56 PM) :

dare one say...perfect?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:05 PM) :

I love the way it fits him. But the cut on his shoulder is a little off. The sleeve kind of puffs out a little. But like every thing else. I probably would have went with a different tie, but that is not bad, it's subtle.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:41 PM) :

Too much pocket square, not enough shirt cuff, trying hard.....not quite sold. Something about it does not look authentic....like it is someone else's look perhaps but not quite his own? I can't put my finger on it. . . . .the window shots you've shown must have been put together by the dashing Oliver you occassionally picture?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:56 PM) :

Pretty cool. Hard to tell what color and fabric the suit is. Brown or blue flannel or a worsted. It looks very good on this guy who is presumably Italian so who should be surprised. If the suit brown flannel I would have chosen a sleek black shoe.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:16 PM) :

This is a well dressed man! I dont mean to deviate, but isn't Lee Goldberg, frm ch 7 eyewitness news, the best dressed news man on tv with his perfectly taillored suits? Just curious...am i the only one who noticed?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:19 PM) :

It's all about the details :
the napolitean shoulder
the roll of the lapels
the pocket square
the dimple in his tie
the cuff of the trousers
the brown shoes
the watch
the shaved head

Picture perfect !

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:57 PM) :

How sharp this man looks!
His stance alone is enough to win me over.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:05 PM) :

He looks great! :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:31 PM) :

Simply amazing I love the whole outfit.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:59 PM) :

Is that a dark brown suit? I love the shoulders and his navy tie. Perfect sartorialist.

lee goldberg? you mean the lee goldberg of the rather abundant blond hair, baby blue eyes, and skin so fair he is obviously forecasting the weather without actually experiencing it himself? honey, i don't mean to be unkind, but i think that you may be only one who HASN'T noticed that this man looks nothing whatsoever like lee goldberg.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:39 PM) :

more cuff, less watch, IF you please.

but having his eyes shut, just like in a high school yearbook picture, is kind of endearing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:56 PM) :

The suit has three buttons, it's just rolled to the second button such that you don't see the top button. A beautiful lapel roll and a classic Italian look. One would know this suit is Attolini/Vacca even if you cropped out his face.

And the cuffs on his pants are wonderful. Most American men get their cuffs way too skimpy. Don't listen to the department store alterations "tailor"!!! 1.75" should be the minimum and 2" is ideal - also helps the pants hang better since there's a little more weight around your ankle.

Blogger Marilyn said ... (12:17 AM) :

Suit is too pimped out in stripes ...he would bust a seam if he bent over...
But what a gorgeous man! Great smile, well-groomed, and confident.
Would like him in a more generous cut, solid color suit and a tie with some flair.

Thanks for "pointing" him out!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:17 AM) :

I love the details he put into his wardrobe!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:59 AM) :

to flyguy--

i'm an idiot. i completely misread your comments and their meaning and i hope you will accept my apology.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:59 AM) :

David M,

In Stockholm most men use bulky shoes simply because they have no taste! Nothing is as elegant as mens shoes with thin soles, a concept this man fully grasps! The brown shoes work very well at day, and surprisingly good with the suit.
