Holy hot guys, batman. Love the grey jacket w/those pants tucked into the boots topped w/a pom-pom hat!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:45 PM) :

ADORABLE!!!!! Both outfits are perfect!

Blogger Poochie said ... (7:51 PM) :

I like a guy who's not afraid to wear some fuzzy mittens!

: )

They look like they're having a fun wintery day.

Luv
Poochie

Blogger brooke said ... (7:53 PM) :

they must be models- they look dressed for a photo shoot! i especially love the layering of the guy on the left

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (7:58 PM) :

Yeah, nice outfits. Both of them.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:10 PM) :

the shoes of the guy on the right are awesome! I like everything about both these looks EXCEPT the gloves... they look like bandages

Blogger Liesel said ... (8:13 PM) :

hay hay

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:16 PM) :

Hey hey hey!

Blogger DeepBlueSea said ... (8:17 PM) :

It's all fantastic, even the hat!
Love how the fair guy has mixed mid-range blues, greys, browns etc. All great with his colouring.
The darker guy is equally cool in his more contrasting outfit. That grey jacket is purrrrrfect.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:45 PM) :

They are both too delicious for words. I like the overall silhouette of the guy in the gray jacket, despite the jeans tucked into boots- as a rule not a good look in my opinion.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:57 PM) :

Like the guy on the left, he looks cool...
The guy on the right looks like hes straight out of a spin doctors video...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:10 PM) :

i love the gloves! and the sweater too.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:13 PM) :

i really like the knit material on that hoodie and the cardigan-like pockets. the gloves add a nice touch to emphasize the lighter cream of his jacket, but i think they look a bit girly.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:30 PM) :

who are these very attractive men?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:48 PM) :

i love the image with kind of hat

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:49 PM) :

love their outfits!
brothers? can i have them both?=)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:53 PM) :

i wish all boys dressed this way. are they american??

Blogger lars stephan said ... (9:54 PM) :

I like the toned down color combination of the two of them. The left one lightning it up (off white gloves, white sneakers, beige sweater) and the right one toning it down (black shoes, dark hat, darkish scarf)
Nice combo combined.

Blogger dean said ... (9:57 PM) :

I like everything but the white mitts. These are two adorable boys.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:14 PM) :

Can you say HOTT?!!! And their style...where are the guys like that in the rest of the world? So nonchalant, but still put together with style. Great smiles...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:17 PM) :

You naughty kittens! And look: one even lost his mittens.

Both of them are quite tasty, aren't they?

Props to the East Village!
mltt

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:17 PM) :

Luv that grey jacket.
Luv the two pockets on the chest.

where did he got it?

wiiee
adil

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:21 PM) :

these guys are awesome. workwear in muted colors that are not too matchy-matchy.

hear hear for the cream gloves and the pom pom beanie.

rag and bone should rip em off.

Blogger Butch said ... (10:49 PM) :

Both great; but especially dig the guy on the right's...well, real sense of style. Great proportions, hat just couldn't be better.....

..and let's hear it for left guy's white shoes-gloves matchup!

Many choices here, well made and then...just allowed to be with ease and wit.

Blogger Manhattan's Single Foodie said ... (10:52 PM) :

Very cool, and eclectic style on both of the guys. I like the mixture of monotonic colors on the gentleman on the right. Why don’t the boys look like this at home?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:59 PM) :

these guys look like they could be professional models.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:01 PM) :

love the boots on the right and the gloves on the left. it doesn't hurt that the pair is ridiculously good looking. love the lighter coats and color combinations. the hat is adorable.

Blogger Imprensa said ... (11:13 PM) :

Love the gray jeans.

Blogger O!Lightning said ... (11:28 PM) :

So very NEW YORK!

Blogger erica-knits said ... (11:34 PM) :

I love it! These two look amazing. Even as a female I can definitely gain much style inspiration from this photo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:54 PM) :

Lose the pom pom. Otherwise I quite like the picture.

Blogger Platformmanboots said ... (11:55 PM) :

Everyone in the world is jealous of people who grew up in New York. We won't say it out loud though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:03 AM) :

Nice low tones. I have difficulty dressing in quiet colours.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:20 AM) :

Superb.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:32 AM) :

Now why didn't someone put them in my xmas stocking?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:41 AM) :

what a duo!

brown sweater is my favorite.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:46 AM) :

My mom has always told me "the young can pull off anything." I never understood what that meant until just now.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:58 AM) :

Yes yes yes yes yes! Thank you for these two gorgeous boys!

-W

Blogger Françoise said ... (1:02 AM) :

I love the jacket that the guy on the right is wearing. He looks comfy. Not only does his clothing look functional, but it demonstrates his style, too. It does not hurt that this guy is super charming, too. :)

Blogger kalindoscopy said ... (1:02 AM) :

Left's jumper, right's hat jacket and trousers. No t shirt, no checks. No mittens.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:26 AM) :

oooh they're beautiful

Blogger Rita said ... (2:13 AM) :

Lovely duo. Each has his own personal style, but they look pretty amazing together.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:04 AM) :

I like this. The outfits are very genuine but still nicely coordinated. Amazing smiles.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:18 AM) :

Great fit on the right, although the pants are a bit big to be tucking in boots, no?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:59 AM) :

OMG HOTNESS

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:29 AM) :

really cute guys, aren't they?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:44 AM) :

I just can't seem to like skinny pants on guys, i think their outfits would look much better with straight cut pants.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:49 AM) :

those two prove it.
perfection is imperfection
love them

Blogger Vistiendo a Candela said ... (5:16 AM) :

I like the gay with the grey jacket

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:31 AM) :

I like th guy without the cap better, but maybe he is occupied already.

Blogger Suzan said ... (5:43 AM) :

Great style, both of them! But what really finishes it off are the cute smiles and what seems as a fun attitude.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:04 AM) :

Oh my, my. Two good lookin' boys, smiling and holding eachother. Can bot be wrong. And thair clothes; WOW!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:16 AM) :

absolutely love your 2 latest posts, really fresh!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:17 AM) :

Gotta be models. They're gorgeous, and they do the wintry look pretty well.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:24 AM) :

Wow! They are soooo cute!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:33 AM) :

Great look!Adorable

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:10 AM) :

He(left) looks like someone is pulling the jacket and the trousers down.
Well why not.
As long as you get noticed any look is OK.
A lot of people suffer from various degrees of attention deficiency disorder nowadays.
The really diffeent way to dress would be plain, boring basics that nobody notices . But that takes a strong and well grounded personality and that kind of human being is in short supply.

Blogger Cheltenhamdailyphoto said ... (8:31 AM) :

Stylish lads in a comfy way. I like it.

Blogger Barbara said ... (9:27 AM) :

These guys can layer in a way that is casual, yet a little dressy. Love the addition of gloves. The other guy looks like he needs them.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:36 AM) :

They look so great.
Explosive megawatt smile always is a plus.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:48 AM) :

Don't like either look. Typical grunge gone trendy look - too messy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:00 AM) :

fierce!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:12 AM) :

Lovin' it all. Even the baggy jeans tucked into the boots...It's a look I'm not a big fan of but the kid pulls it off. They're both flawless. Job well done.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:24 AM) :

I really hope these two are a couple. They look like they deserve each other, in a nice way.
The guy on the left looks like he jumped out of bed, threw on jeans, jumper and a jacket and accidentally ended up with the exact perfect outfit. The clothes makes me want to jump his bones, the gloves make me want to marry him.
Christof.

Blogger Luciernaka said ... (11:04 AM) :

I love plaid and funny knit hats with pom poms as much as I love cute smiling boys.

Blogger sulu-design said ... (11:21 AM) :

Hi, Steve! Funny to run into you on the pages of the Sartorialist now that we don't run into you at races any more. Suzy and Barry say hello from Portland.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:26 PM) :

The grey jacket is amazing (and I love the hat)
Plus he's hot.
I like the knit of the brown sweater, but definitely NOT the mittens.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:53 PM) :

OMG ARE THEY MODELS OR GAY. TOTALLY HOT!!! GREAT DRESS SENSE. AND OMG HOTTTTTT

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:17 PM) :

fantastic! :) love the smiles and the layerings.

Blogger lieschenmueller said ... (2:37 PM) :

Blogger Sheila Hippert said ... (3:21 PM) :

the boy in the hat neeeeeds to be my boyfriend. i love his style! not to mention how precious he looks in that hat! haha

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:41 PM) :

cool

Blogger Susan B said ... (3:54 PM) :

Hmm, just looking at these two gents made me feel about 25 years younger. ;-) I like what they're wearing, too.

Blogger doingtheunstuck said ... (4:36 PM) :

okay...enough about how hot these guys are (though, their smiles are certainly killer)...and more about the clothes!

I think they both look pretty stellar minus a couple details. It's annoying that Left Guy's gloves are cream and his shoes are white...oh, so close, but yet, so far away. And I usually don't mind the skinny jeans, except for when they're paired w/ light colored shoes. I think gray or brown would have worked better.

And Right Guy--I can't tell if it's b/c of the anggle of the camera lens, or if it's a combo of his tucked pants & that he's pushing his pants down...but his legs look stumpy and those boots look too sporty.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:19 PM) :

Nice smiles, but other than that, what merits a second look here? The grey jacket looks like a good everyday option, but traditionally the bottom button would not be buttoned.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:29 PM) :

Yum. I love me a well-dressed couple of men... :D

Blogger Lily said ... (5:36 PM) :

Wau, this is like straight from a Gap-add or something!

love you page.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:24 PM) :

these guys are simply adorable/. i hope they are working in the fashion business. we need them.

Blogger Julian Danziger said ... (7:34 PM) :

Does anyone know who makes the jacket on the right? The grey one. Looks like something I would totally wear. These guys are both looking outstanding and i really like the scarf on the fellow to the right.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:56 PM) :

Nice boys, nice outfits - bet they're great company. Love the twinkle in both their eyes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:31 PM) :

Nice. But no way these guys 'grew up in NY.' Just some more transplanted models.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:30 PM) :

I'm so glad you're taking pictures around the eastside more and more now!

Blogger Super Milk-Chan said ... (10:39 PM) :

Mmm! Those boys are oh-so-nice!
I especially love the khaki textured sweater on the left. It's great with the plaid. And the pompom hat is always excellent.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:16 PM) :

boys like this are just too perfect to be real, or to date. like good to a fault. as in i've made it a (lax) rule not to go for guys who look tooo good, or artists, or guys in bands. they're so much fun, but much too temporary. i don't know, though, these guys are so charming that perhaps i wouldn't be able to resist. especially the easy, warm smile on the right.

aside from all that, they both have exceptional taste. bravo, boys.

Blogger styledamsel said ... (11:21 PM) :

men boots are so pretty!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:11 AM) :

homie on the left looks modelesque. yumm! and i love that he is wearing ivory gloves.
i'm not thrilled with the fit of the jacket dude on the right is wearing. a little more room would have made it more seasonally appropriate and appealing for me.

i love how the colors in the gentlemens'garments are mirrored by the buildings behind them. (or vise versa?)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:36 AM) :

I like both their outfits. I like casual style, looks comfortable and something you can put together in 5 minutes.
I think that hats like that are so funny - it looks like a kolla hat with a pompom.

Blogger The Enforcer said ... (12:38 AM) :

The guy with the hat...his smile could be the death of me. Goodness!

Boys like this can be found in the US? Really?

HOLLAH!! =)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:22 AM) :

i think im in love.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:45 AM) :

love it all. especially the raw jeans on the right, even if they are slightly baggy, they work well tucked into the boots. and the layering of both outfits.

Blogger The Velvet Scientist said ... (4:45 AM) :

Great style for Americans! I love the guy on the left's jacket...

xx

Blogger Drömma-Lotta said ... (5:09 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:38 AM) :

why are these gorgeous guys only in NY??????????
i want them here!!!

perfect outfit, however (and marvellous smile)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:49 AM) :

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (10:28 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:18 AM) :

OMG! I WANT TO BE 18 AGAIN!!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:56 AM) :

I love fashionably dressed young men! I wish there were more pics like this one!

Blogger dnqcnn said ... (12:03 PM) :

holiday buddies, so cute and so perfectly casually dressed!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:12 PM) :

everything is perfect, in fact too perfect.

very trendy models. too trendy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:24 PM) :

As usual this look is good only on 'beautiful' people. Come visit small town USA and see the 'plain' people wearing this same thing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:36 PM) :

I like this style!!

Blogger Kelly said ... (1:50 PM) :

Funny that only a couple of people noticed what I did right away. These boys are smiling! That is why they look so good.

Blogger anita said ... (2:38 PM) :

These two look like they stepped off an ivy-league campus from the 1940s; the plaid wool shirt is lovely. Or else they remind me of how I imagine the characters in Catcher in the Rye look like.

Great shot.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:39 PM) :

I agree with doingtheunstuck @ 4:36.

While they are both so yummy, they are made sloppy shoe choices.

I feel the boots could be heavier. And the white shoes should either be fresh, immaculate white, or not white at all.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:33 PM) :

Eric you camera whore

Blogger whats-he-wearing.com said ... (5:46 PM) :

i LOVE the style of the guy on our left, i am so going to buy a pair of grey skinny jeans now. but where can i find that great great plaid jacket??! somebody must know!

they are so wholesome.

& the reason why i keep coming back to this blog because i always feel inspired.

<3

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:10 PM) :

very nice outfits!!

kisses from Spain!!

yes!! here we are fans of this web too!!

heheh

Blogger Sarah M. said ... (7:39 PM) :

I think the layering really does it for these two, especially because the layering is done with some really gorgeous pieces. Also, like someone said, the smiling. I don't see the appeal of frowning and having everyone think you're mad at the world.

Blogger so said ... (8:36 PM) :

cute boys!!

Blogger tamlee said ... (9:36 PM) :

i agree with k, the smiling is what really makes everyone react to the photo. less "badditude", more happy!
oh! and if i'm going to comment on the actual outfits, then i would say that the boy on the right would look much nicer in slimmer fitting jeans.

and a question - do you find that nowadays most of the people you photograph now know who you are? or are you still shrouded in a nice veil of anonymity when you head out and about with your camera?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:49 PM) :

so cute. love them. those boots have to go, though. looks like he's trying to hard.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:56 AM) :

Every item here is a classic of one kind or another: from the uniform jacket to the sneaks. Why do they seem fresh? For one thing, the fit = good and youthful, contemporary. Best of all, the guys are wearing the clothes, rather than the other way around. (See orange poncho) No wonder they look happy.

And I like the white gloves just fine - great with that plaid, and a little unexpected fillip.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:15 AM) :

guy on the left: seems very much like a "wow we just had a great night in bed now let's roll out of it, throw something on and grab a late breakfast" kind of outfit, especially with the tossled hair and comfy (yet totally fantastic) choices. I like his mixing of textures and patterns.

guy on the right: brilliant smile. approachable...the kind of guy you'd find sitting on the bench across from you in washington square park and wish you were sitting next to. I'm loving the hands in the pockets and his hat.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:54 AM) :

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

early.

or, is this a late christmas gift?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:24 AM) :

But this is how everyone in London has been dressing for the past four years....

Blogger Style Salvage Steve said ... (8:14 AM) :

Here is a lesson on how one can dress in this colder season. I appreciate the mix of textures through the different fabrics and fits. I can't make my mind up omn which i prefer, i think it is the chap in the hat because of the mix of his fitted jacket, jeans and boots topped off with that silly but cute hat. That said the other chap is wearing a beautiful plaid jacket...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:37 AM) :

Wow, I'm not sure enough people have have commented about their physical appearance yet. Come on, let's step it up people.

Blogger elaine said ... (8:38 AM) :

these guys are gorgeous! their smiles definitely make the picture. if they were standing there all sullen and brooding, this photo would not warrant a comment from me.

too all the guys out there, fashion savvy or not, a smile is always in fashion, especially on a cold winter's day. happy new year's from paris!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:40 AM) :

Funny how people always seem to adulate over the male postings on sart. Personally, I am not a fan of either look; the cream gloves don't mesh with the outfit and the skinny jeans are unflattering on the gentleman on the left, while the one on the right distorted his proportions by tucking loose jeans into boots. If the photo had been cropped from the waist up I could have appreciated it more, but their choices of shoes and pants ruin everything for me.

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (9:47 AM) :

Oooh, hats off (pun intended) to a guy who dares to wear cream gloves.

The grey jacket on the gentleman on the left is beautiful. Love that it's gently rumpled yet very fitted.

Blogger Sam said ... (12:41 PM) :

These guys are trying WAY too hard to look sloppy. They probably live in Williamsburg too. Unimpressinve.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:06 PM) :

This is how I look first thing in the morning when I fall out of bed to get my coffee. Then I take a shower and get dressed.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:44 PM) :

HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Must be two models tho

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:08 PM) :

These lovely lads MUST be models. Your average guy who's rocking this style in NYC looks NOTHING like these two.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:37 AM) :

What a sunny picture! Not the wintery city, but the guys' expressions, they look so relaxed and happy. Lovely way to start the new year, mr. Sart!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:41 AM) :

LOOK! A pic of the Sartorialist on a Parisian fashion blog(Dans Paris):

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:17 AM) :

muy bien.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:02 AM) :

Soho grunge. And it looks so adorable.

Blogger The Pilgrim said ... (9:26 AM) :

I like te idea of white sneakers for winter, and the picture is really nice, beautiful light and I love the touch of yellow from the cabs in the background... so NY!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:48 AM) :

"models"

As an agent I don't think so. There is a huge difference between being an o.k looking guy & being a fashion model - Huge! Besides, the one on the right is not nearly tall enough going by the pic.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:27 PM) :

What's the big deal here? I have friends and know lots of guys who dress like this in my small hometown in Sweden. Boys outside NY are as well dressed. Sure, these boys have good taste and the ability to compose a nice outfit, but come on... it's not rocket science.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:28 PM) :

They look great!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:46 PM) :

I can't believe people think these dudes are models. Perhaps read VMan, L'Uomo Vogue, Arena Homme +
Look at current ads for Dolce, Dior Homme, YSL Go on YouTube & look at the S/S 08 Milan/Paris shows - it's pretty easy to see these guys are NOT models, their not the correct build & just don't look like fashion models - they're just ordinary guys you come across everyday in Lower Manhattan, especially the East Village / L.E.S - everyone looks like this for crying out loud & you DON'T need to be a model to have a sense of style - especially in a city like N.Y where you're constantly surrounded by fashion.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:57 PM) :

aww cute! they look so toasty and comfortable - those things and their smiles combined caught my attention before the actual clothing details did.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:15 AM) :

Too cute. Love the way they each have their own individual sense of style yet they're very complimentary. Jumper's hot, hair's adorable, gloves are fun, and the boots are just wicked sick. I'd hit that.

Blogger LYNN and HORST said ... (5:08 AM) :

smoking hot!

Blogger mythsn_legends said ... (8:33 PM) :

hot guys, hot outfits ;)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:15 AM) :

The grey jacket maynot be military surplus, but it could be. (or military academy ...) If you want that cut, seek out a uniform seller (new or vintage - including service uniforms, as hotel etc) - I had the exact cut in college in off-white, a former marching band uniform jacket - swapped the brass buttons for ivory ones and it was great.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:44 PM) :

The guy on the left is not the Swedish model Niklas Nilsson, who looks like this:

don't know about the gloves, they look a bit big

The grey jeans and white shoes are great!

I love them both!!
I like both jackets, and the hat that's wearing the one on the right. The pants inside the boots, also a good point.
and the white gloves!!

they are hot! =P

I agree with the spin doctors comment. I think the blue coat doesn't quite fit right and the black pants bag in a wierd wat. The guy on the left looks better, mainly because the white gloves match the white sneakers so well, but I otherwise think the outfits both seem like they don't quite work as well as the effort put in should allow. They look too thought in a way that highlights what is drab in both.
