stylish man, although i don't like the shoulder straps and the pockets on the jacket...too much details for me.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:09 AM) :

Nice photo of Abboud. I knew him when he was a salesman at my favorite Boston shop, "Louis."

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:16 AM) :

Amazing jacket. And all these shades of grey here... Including his hair. Wonderful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:32 AM) :

One can never have too many pockets.
Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone should dress like this 24/7.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:17 AM) :

Handsome jacket! ^..^

Blogger K said ... (11:20 AM) :

this is such a fantastic jacket! the details are so cool and this elder gentleman knows how to wear it. ;) may all men both young and old dress with such style.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:29 AM) :

Well done, sir. The jacket is stunning and very elegantly worn, the tie is perfectly knotted. Sporty yet sofisticate. Most importantly, this gentleman looks confortable in his clothes.

Blogger Trish said ... (11:29 AM) :

I never comment on the men's clothes but this look is so strong I can't help it. So well done, Bravo!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:50 AM) :

sehr gut! a bit designery and excessive (but he is a designer!) but take the ideas of the layered look, the complementary colors, the patch pocket jacket (sans exaggeration through epaulets, odd seams, etc.) and you can tone down a good idea and make the look your own.
This is why designers are creative; they provide the starting point and inspiration for us to adopt to our own interpretation of their ideas.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:00 PM) :

i love that jacket!

i want to learn to make clothe.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:02 PM) :

beautiful detailing for a mans coat. The grey goes so well with his skin tone. I think that any man with olive skin should have a shirt just like here, its masculine but refined.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:33 PM) :

The colors of his clothes are really beautiful. He looks very good.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:16 PM) :

Symphony in grey. Gorgeous!

Blogger Max said ... (1:30 PM) :

I like that zipper on the lapel. It looks like he's taking a page out of the Engineered Garments style book.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:49 PM) :

I really love the colors!
I mean how his grey hair connects to his shirt and tie and how his skin reflects to some of the brownish tones in his jacket. I really wish that there was multiple photos with different backgrounds and with warmer and colder lights sometimes...
Such a great photo, you have an amazing eye mr Sartorialist.

Nice to see him again. I remember seeing a profile on him in GQ way back when ('89? '91?) and how he was outfitting Bryant Gumbel when he was on Today. I've been a fan of his work since then. Easy, subtle, and handsome clothes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:13 PM) :

great jacket! anyone knows where I can get it?

Blogger Sarah M. said ... (3:53 PM) :

yes! Boston's very own Joseph Abboud and one of my favorite people to come out of my neighborhood! He's the same age as my parents, yet he dresses so much more stylishly and still looks great. The jacket is fabulous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:56 PM) :

Wonderful jacket!

Blogger premier said ... (4:10 PM) :

Love the jacket. Any idea which designer's is it?

Blogger gabrielazeanadal@hotmail.com said ... (4:25 PM) :

I like that white hair and the tie, scarf and shirt look very interesting together. If I were him, I wouldn’t put my hand in the jacket’s pocket because in the long run it can ruin its shape: it would be a shame, but the jacket would still be great.

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:31 PM) :

Talk about suave. It takes special kind of class to pull off the velvet scarf loosly tied about the neck. This lovely blazer is authentically genteel. Sarto, I would love to read what you have to see about this gentleman's jacket because I am not so well versed in the details that I see here. Are those epaulets on the shoulders?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:38 PM) :

I love the coat. the looks is casual yet elegant, he makes it look too easy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:12 PM) :

Joe Abboud has such an incredible sense of style, and pulls it off so naturally. It's such pleasure to see him again.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:10 AM) :

Like the two-toned scarf. A jacket with so many pockets is hard to pull off unless one has a broad chest. The epaulets are overkill.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:06 AM) :

I've never left a comment before, because i normally agree with most people's views- but i think this jacket is horrible! dreadfully overdesigned, not very well cut, and the epaulettes don't even sit flat. Other than that, undistinguished shirt, trousers, and tie. Fairly nice scarf, and i like that he has his sleeves rolled back. Disappointing!

Sorry to be negative, usually love the outfits, and i will of course continue to check in every day!

Blogger skoraq cooks said ... (5:09 AM) :

What a stylish man. Great choice of variety of grey shades and patterns.

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:58 AM) :

I was wondering how acceptable it is to leave the top button of a 3-button jacket open... if it's good enough for Joseph Abboud, it's good enough for me.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:45 AM) :

1st thought: a safari coat in this kind of material? I don’t think so!
2nd thought: in this ensemble, it looks great.
Conclusion: I have a lot to learn. Thanks.

he's designing the new menswear line at lord and taylor this fall...can't wait to see it

Blogger biglakestyle said ... (1:02 PM) :

Anyone know what this gentleman does now; I know he sold his line a few years ago. Surely he has not gone back to Louis in Boston; and BTW..why didn't they last in NYC; the odd location on 57th perhaps; a bit too east?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:41 PM) :

sorry all but this look isn't doing it for me. Kind of strange but for some reason I don't think the outfit is for him. If I put my hand over his face the outfit looks nice enough, perhaps a little fussy around the neck with the turned collar, low scarf knot, and exposed tie. As soon as I remove my hand, he just looks like he;s trying too hard. Maybe I just have this reaction when an older man wears an outfit with so much going on, so many details, esp the twisted arm seam. It looks a bit contrived.

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:53 PM) :

a combination blazer and scottish m65 military jacket in classic tweed and earth tones. very nice.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:02 PM) :

Classic military jacket in tweed, truly a weekend/country look, worn here in Manhattan on a workday - proving once again that the old rules don't apply.

Guessing that jacket is Abboud - but maybe not? Will have to look around.

Thanks for posting it, Scott!

Blogger Mr. Style said ... (8:42 AM) :

Is this one of his new items?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:01 PM) :

Mr. Abboud looks marvelous! How nice to see an American looking chic - yet casual and very pulled together - while on the street.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:54 AM) :

Looked for this in his Fall 08 collection online and didn't find it in there. Couldn't find the 07 line anywhere.
Scott, I note JA isn't included in the runway shows on style.com - ?

Blogger UESman said ... (9:48 PM) :

I love this guy...but I have absolutely no idea why! Strange.
