Cool! An urban rockabilly. OS

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:27 AM) :

90210 all the way...hot stuff... :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:30 AM) :

How amazing is this shot! Retro, cool, sleek and casual.. Fab hair and what I most enjoy, it feels natural, not playing dress up in vintage style -

i would run the slip-on's through the wash with some bleach, but hey that's just me :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:31 AM) :

He must spend ages on that hair.

...But worth it, I'd say.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:31 AM) :

if those jeans are nudies, i think we were meant for each other :P

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:33 AM) :

Peut on être plus beau?

I'm feeling the Morrissey vibe.

Keep up the good work.

Blogger Mitchell Weiss said ... (10:17 AM) :

An artsy James Dean. Very cool look.

Blogger skoraq cooks said ... (10:27 AM) :

Whoooa. He's soo cute..:-)..anyway I didn't know this kind of hair is trendy those days. It's very "New Kids on the Block" style.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:28 AM) :

Ooh, I think I fell in love with him

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:35 AM) :

Reminds me of a young Morrissey.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:37 AM) :

Purdy variant of El Moz

Blogger Paul Pincus said ... (10:48 AM) :

A beauty. Great shot...love his jeans.

Blogger PeaceLoves said ... (10:52 AM) :

This look is really rad, I love the simplicity of his ensemble because it's so natural. Great Jacket as well.

Blogger philip said ... (10:54 AM) :

That hair, indeed!
On his head on creeping over the v-neck? Either way, awesome.

And yes to the blue socks!

Blogger Nina said ... (10:56 AM) :

yea! the james dean look. the sleek hair and clothes, it's just amazing!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:57 AM) :

pretty boy but too self conscious. I guess you cant have one without the other, nowadays

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:15 AM) :

cuanto estilo!!!!!!!!!!
very much style!!!this boy remember very much a James Dean

when will you go to galicia??!!jeje

Blogger Karina said ... (11:19 AM) :

OK, so he was really just sitting there?
Amost too good to be true -- almost, because of the cigarette....

Blogger Frontier Psychiatrist said ... (11:21 AM) :

That hair on his head? Or chest?

Either way, it's nice.

I love the socks.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:22 AM) :

haha ok james dean maybe and i see the 90210 but for some reason my first thought was vanilla ice! but this guy definitely rocks it better. i feel like i'm not supposed to be liking this but instead i love it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:24 AM) :

The shoes, socks, pants interface: perfect!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:26 AM) :

He's channeling Morrisey - not 90210.

"How soon is now"

Blogger Kara said ... (11:36 AM) :

Which hair? On the head or chest? ;)

Teasing! He's so cool; I'd never make fun of him in real life.

I love the pop of the aquamarine ... or peacock ... or something colored socks.

Blogger mikeljason said ... (11:38 AM) :

the hair is very Morrissey(esque)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:43 AM) :

Moz would surely be proud

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:52 AM) :

This season ladies and gents socks and cardigans should be THIS particular shade of blue - is it called azure maybe?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:59 AM) :

I'm also seeing a bit of Chris Isaak in this guy. This is, by far, one of the best pics I've seen on the Sartorialist in quite a while.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:01 PM) :

Oh! I love it...the hair...the blue socks...the jeans! He's making me miss Morrissey.

as I sing....
I would go out tonight, but I haven't got a stitch to wear. This man said, "it's gruesome that someone so handsome should care"

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:01 PM) :

a little bit of morrisey, a little bit of rockabilly and sooo cool!
such a beautiful face too..

Blogger Johanna said ... (12:06 PM) :

So printing this picture out and taking it to my stylist. I'm not normally fond of using product, but if I could get my short 'do in that kind of coiff, even for a day, I'll helmet my hair in hairspray!

Blogger Karmander said ... (12:14 PM) :

Viva Morrissey!! Actually, the clothes don't look Mozzy to me at all...and I like the look but it's a tad too derivative for me...only a tad. The blue socks are exciting and the grey jacket is lovely. The Dean & Delucca bag is a nice touch. *sighs* Morrissey. I like this guy, he's very playful and very serious at the same time. But I will say...could use a different shoe.

I'm off to listen to Bona Drag now.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:14 PM) :

Like everyone says, definitely channeling my fave, Morrissey. Though hopefully he's not gay, because I NEED to marry this man. I just wish he weren't holding that cig. Nasty habit, icky breath.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:23 PM) :

i can't believe no one has pointed out the likeness to henry holland.. is it just me that thinks that?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:28 PM) :

awesome. that kind of haircut is always so full of energy, and totally cool and refined because of the smooth shapes. Also, this man totally looks like justin timberlake+adam levine.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:31 PM) :

Ice, Ice, Baby!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:33 PM) :

Morrissey for suuurrre. Sigh. Perfection.

Blogger Cassaundra said ... (12:35 PM) :

that certain shade of blue is very popular these days. he looks wonderful, and very handsome.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:36 PM) :

yummy.... he is good enough to eat

Blogger Sam said ... (12:39 PM) :

Wasnt this guy in The Pet Shop Boys?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:53 PM) :

hmmmm... now how to get that hair...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:59 PM) :

The hair is nice, but the socks are incredible!

Blogger Paulo Mamedes said ... (1:21 PM) :

Fabulous!
That socks too! heheh

Would you like to hire me to take pics in Sao Paulo/Brazil?
I'm free...

heheheh

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:24 PM) :

morrisey was the first thought that jumped into my head. great shot! I love that he doesn't look "rockabilly" or like a straight up knock off of Moz...and the jeans are sweet!

Blogger Rafe Totengco said ... (1:26 PM) :

wow, he's straight out of the 50's or something. very James Dean / Rockabilly but edgier.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:29 PM) :

Everything looks wonderful until you reach the socks and shoes; black leather boots would have looked better.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:31 PM) :

fittie.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:10 PM) :

oh
I'm in love :P

Blogger jamesylala said ... (2:11 PM) :

SWOON

Blogger suzannemarques said ... (2:24 PM) :

stop me oh ha ho stop me...

i know i'm like the 11th person to say it, but he's so channeling morrissey back in the day. :)

she's a doll too in her tartan.

Blogger Elizabeth said ... (2:24 PM) :

He's very pretty.

Blogger ModernGear TV said ... (2:40 PM) :

And those socks!! Nice pop of blue.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:40 PM) :

The socks kinda throw me off, but the rest of his outfit... gorgeous. And indeed his hair... fantastic. The socks might grow on me a bit though, they're quirky :)
Besides the excellent choice of subject, the photo itself is pretty wicked too. Gorgeous light and perfect amount of DOF.
Really still enjoying and drawing inspiration from this blog.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:44 PM) :

Ay caramba!

And the socks are a great colour --they go so well with the jeans.

Blogger S. said ... (2:48 PM) :

Simple clothing + sexy hair = well done

Blogger Lee S. said ... (3:06 PM) :

Is that the Boy with the Thorn in His Side? ;) What a cool 'do.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:09 PM) :

For a moment I thought sart was referring to his chest hair! Well, I guess it could be both of them.

Usu. I am a bit against chest hair exposure but in this case it looks sexy on him.

Like the blue socks..it works on him not me but still cool.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:09 PM) :

Is that chest hair I see? eeeeeewwwwwww

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:10 PM) :

He's like my old Chanel bag

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:13 PM) :

I think the neck looks deep because of the angle of the photograph. I am loving the socks.

Blogger cjdd said ... (3:30 PM) :

he makes the world itself more beautiful.

see? dressing with care and consideration can make so many people happy...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:36 PM) :

The chest hair is kinda nice actually... right?

Blogger upupandaway said ... (4:31 PM) :

This is vanilla ice sexed out to the indie generation... Something very wrong, but irresistible about all of it.

Blogger Brian said ... (4:32 PM) :

I love everything about this.

Blogger Susan said ... (4:32 PM) :

u captured him in the perfect lighting. it makes him glow... this is an amazing photo sartorialist!!! i'm sure it helps to have amazing looking subjects...regardless...GREAT PHOTOS!
i still am eternally grateful for the inspiration i steal from your blog everyday!

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:43 PM) :

Too bad he is wearing sneakers!!! Real men wear leather shoes!!!!

Blogger Mary said ... (4:49 PM) :

Hello James Dean!

He walked straight out of my dreams. He looks AMAZING. I love the V-neck and how he subtly layers all the other items on top of it. And the touch of color from the socks with the cuffed jeans... gosh, who is he?!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:56 PM) :

i think i'm in love with him
-wilde

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:57 PM) :

Oh, my god what a beautiful man!
That´s all...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:58 PM) :

Super dreamy! Love the whole look and yes, MEN have chest hair. Nice.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:07 PM) :

i love him. it's that simple

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:08 PM) :

I love him. It's that simple.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:41 PM) :

He is gobsmackingly hot but I just can't do the v-neck. Sorry, boys, if you've got fur, keep it to yourself.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:05 PM) :

Is it just me or isn't it the grey leather jacket from the Dior Homme S/S 06? - I also do believe that the jeans are the raw ones with the 19cm hem. but maybe I'm wrong.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:12 PM) :

He is chillin like a villain, as if everyday was like Sunday.

The hair history goes like this. Valentino - chicano 50's style - greaser - early Robert Mitchum - J. Dean - the king - bobby fuller 4 (this list of guys have all fought the man style laws and won)- bronx italians - even straightened early 60's black RNB acts eg. wilson pickett - falls apart during hippiedom - resurfaces in 80's new york proto punk with more of a miltary vibe - morrissey - Suede - NKOTB - gay porn? and the recent revival of the Smiths interest.

It suits the guy like a hand in glove.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:30 PM) :

Excuse me while I catch my breath...those EYES!

Blogger s.212 said ... (6:35 PM) :

sanjaya! haha no this is obviously better

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:45 PM) :

yes, please!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:02 PM) :

Liking the clothes, loving th hair.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:03 PM) :

hmmmm...grey leather, hint of plaid, slight rockabilly resemblance (see "raggare"), hint of bright color found in unassuming clothing item, the jeans...he's probaly scandinavian

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:09 PM) :

i didn't know guys like that still existed...you've made my day, sart!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:49 PM) :

Carbon copy of Morrissey circa The Smiths.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:51 PM) :

yow

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:03 PM) :

it's so refreshing not to see a shaved chest.
he's bridging the gap between high-school rebel and middle aged urban artist. i wonder if some more facial hair finish it off.
the layering is careless and beautiful, with the frayed cuffs under the jacket.

Blogger jst+crs said ... (8:11 PM) :

I'm burning this ensemble into my memory... Great layering, and an absolutely wonderful use of color with the socks and the flannel shirt.

Blogger JO said ... (8:25 PM) :

Reminds me of 21 Jump Street Days....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:29 PM) :

there's that exciting blue hue again. i have a shirt that color that i love to layer and let peek out. until the more recent trends of vivid blue, really saturated blue-black, and very neutral gray blues, i wasn't much a fan of blue- kind of ho hum and over used. now it's been recycled afresh, which is great since it brings out my eyes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:45 PM) :

wow wow wow....that hair really compliment the whole look..

kudos..

wiiee
adil

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:22 PM) :

Rooster boy! love the turquoise socks--all in all, so much fun!

Blogger tee said ... (9:39 PM) :

All about the hair, baby.

Blogger Kevin @ myMANybags said ... (9:40 PM) :

Effortless nonchalant style:-) Nice layering on the top and the skinny jeans work. However, the best part is the hair. This is one cool dude!

Kevin

Blogger Christina Ware said ... (10:23 PM) :

Totally agree that he looks like a young Morrissey.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:30 PM) :

the hair!

he has a calm, collective cool about him.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:16 AM) :

oh my. i love this. the hair and the blueness of the socks.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:56 AM) :

HE'S PERFECT!

love the shot.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:06 AM) :

beautiful

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:34 AM) :

I want hair like that. And I'm female.

Vintage looking hair is so amazing. I think everyone is over the standard side part/bangs thing by now, right?? I am, but I've been wondering what to do with my hair for some time.

Problem solved!

Thank you beautiful boy who also happens to be wearing my favorite american apparel t shirt. Ah..I wish I could still reap the benefits of an employee discount.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:55 AM) :

(those eyes...)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:57 AM) :

You know, I see a person like that and I just want to know who they are and what they do, because there is so much personality there it's amazing. Wonderful shot.

Blogger biglakestyle said ... (5:04 AM) :

Quite a fe design cues here, both major and minor. I guess to be really James Deanian he'd need the famous bright red jacket. He certainly touches 3 Sart fashion "musts" the scarf, the quirky socks and (political correctness alert) the cigarette. Oh Sart, by the way, James Dean, another Indiana-bred culture and style icon.

Blogger ellastica said ... (5:41 AM) :

love his eyes, which are beautifully accented by his bright blue socks!

the various snippets of color intermingled with that sludgy gray shade gives me the sensation of watching one of my many favorite movies, Pleasantville.

Blogger Scott W said ... (8:40 AM) :

Hot, hot, hot!

Blogger The Fridge Door Gallery said ... (8:44 AM) :

Blogger newton_and_darwin said ... (10:50 AM) :

sweeeet hair and nice bright blue socks! i want some of that

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:23 AM) :

fyi, from one who knows, he's a slave to that hair!

Blogger M.T. said ... (11:29 AM) :

As pretty as that hair is, I am sorry to report that it smells of cigarettes.

Blogger MARIA H said ... (12:06 PM) :

hotness, not only in his hair!
the layering to end up in his manly man chest, the very austere totally cool pieces....sexy dude, and he knows it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:19 PM) :

There is a Morrissey atmosphere in here ;)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:26 PM) :

More like "that bone structure!" Stunningly handsome looks that are perfectly off-set by his trendy, yet still casual ensemble. It's like New York meets Norway.
And you gotta love the not so subtle peak of chest hair, perfectly illuminated by the mid-day sun. ;)
Another great shot, Sart!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:33 PM) :

What a shot! It's an ad for anything cool. Anything.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:50 PM) :

he'd look cooler if he slept on it - then wandered outdoors with it
kept it more gene vincent, less 90s teen drama
i have seen japanese morrisseys at gigs with quiffs over a foot and a half, bouncing around...classic

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:28 PM) :

I love him. It's just that simple.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:35 PM) :

That chest hair!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:23 PM) :

But... James Dean is still alive ?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:46 PM) :

"90210"? are you serious ... this look is as far from that show or characters in that show ...

The person who said he needs to wash his slip-ons ... NO! The worst possible thing is to run around town with pearly white converse, vans etc ... no self respecting downtowner would ever have perfect white footwear ... against east village/l.e.s laws!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:14 PM) :

oh god, now I have to leave my husband.....and share him with Donald.

Blogger trish paik said ... (7:01 PM) :

i love the bright blue socks

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:01 PM) :

This beautiful specimen of man is taken, unfortunately.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:51 PM) :

A brilliant confection of a haircut, like a mr whippy ice cream. Looks a bit like Hamburg era pre fame Beatles, before Stuart Sutcliffe died. You kind of feel he should be wearing motorcycle or chelsea boots, but somehow it seems more authentic, like he almost has the whole outfit but is still saving up for the boots.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:16 PM) :

He's got as much hair under his shirt as he does on top of his head. I wonder if its display is part of the look?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:40 PM) :

James Dean is alive and very well in Manhattan! Wow!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:56 PM) :

looks like an ad for H&M.

Blogger Joan said ... (10:36 PM) :

love the blue socks slyly peeping out.

Blogger Shoshanah Marohn said ... (11:11 PM) :

I like that he's showing just that little patch of hair on his chest! Mmmmm... yummy!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:20 PM) :

it's a new take to match socks with eye colour, no?

Blogger DeepBlueSea said ... (3:52 AM) :

It's so obvious he's channeling Morten Harket channeling James Dean.

(That's Morten from the 80s group AHA)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:30 AM) :

Too good to be true - James Dean is alive and well in Manhattan.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:25 AM) :

Next week it will be a mohawk.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:21 AM) :

I love the whole look except from the shoes. I would expect something a little bit more sophisticated.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:35 AM) :

oh boy!

Blogger Gisele said ... (12:21 PM) :

love the hair, very j.dean as so many others have mentioned. Beautiful face

LOVE IT! It makes me miss my NYC days even more than I already do

Blogger Señorita Bandita said ... (3:28 PM) :

A fine looking young man with superb style...well done! Makes me swoon!

p.s. and yes, I say more reminiscent of Moz over James Dean/90210...you kids best put down that Panic at The Disco record, and put on The Smiths! DANG.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:55 PM) :

I like the blue socks and Morrissey hair.

Blogger SophieA said ... (4:30 PM) :

sometimes, I want to be a man. I like how comfortable he looks. truly a new york moment.
please check out my blog!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:40 PM) :

very nice outfit, most points go to the socks!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:47 PM) :

Jesus Christ. Of course he's taken. He could be dating Gisele and he'd still be more beautiful. The bright blue socks somehow bring out his eyes, the ragged shirts balance out his perfect hair, the plaid gives it a rockabilly vibe, the leather gives it a James Dean vibe, and his bone structure and cool gaze are orgasmic. Simply put.

I just hope his personality can live up to it. It sure would be tough to be so damn beautiful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:51 PM) :

How funny - guess it's 'cause I'm from the West Coast - my first thought was definitely Chris Isaak, not Morrissey. And those who know know that Chris Isaak is a style god.
Too too bad about this guy's cigarette, though. And the shoes. Boots, def.

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:23 PM) :

COLIN! Seriously, he looks this good all the time.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:48 PM) :

the point really is: whereas the chest might have seemed grossly unkempt on another kind of guy, on him it works, AND HE KNOW IT. that's the essence of a cool chic singular sartorialisto - knowing what works for you and going there.

Blogger Alice said ... (12:02 AM) :

i think i'm in love. those socks make my heart melt.

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:32 AM) :

bloody hell, what a cutie! fantastic colour socks.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:14 AM) :

More well placed chest hair, please Sart!

Blogger Disneyrollergirl.net said ... (8:36 AM) :

What a heartbreaker. And sorry to say it but the ciggy does look cool.Loving the Dean & Deluca bag and paper cup props. Too beautiful.

(PS, Henry Holland WISHES he looked like this!)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:27 PM) :

Sart spare us at least some of the repetitive comments; OK girls we love the socks and maybe him too but give a little more thought to it; you're failing the class.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:45 PM) :

I try not to be superficial, but my god beauty can be a wonderful thing...

Blogger fad tony said ... (4:18 PM) :

wow - the hair! and
blue layers once again!

Blogger Somers said ... (5:23 PM) :

He reminds me of Luke Perry on 90210. I know that sounds terrible, but it's meant in the best of ways. Total heartthrob.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:30 AM) :

HHHHOOOTTTHH.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:56 PM) :

AWESOME look. The hair and the blue socks totally make it work!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:56 PM) :

I love... HIS HAIR!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:00 PM) :

The guy isnt fugly, but you guys are overrating him severly. James Dean? Oh PUHLEASE!! Even Brad Pitt isnt fit to step in James Dean's shoes.

If hes so good looking, who has he modeled for? Probably just works the cash register at some clothing store- hence the nice clothing

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:29 PM) :

i want a young man with david lynch hair :(

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:58 PM) :

I've already commented this picture once. But when I look at it again I feel like "URGH" he's just like such a wannabee, very irritating to look at! Well, okay, I like the face but hey, what's up with the shoes?! THEY ARE RUINING IT ALL!!! Why would u wear slip ons for that outfit?! That so NOT rock'n'roll, eventhough I like the socks! He's looking a bit too cheap for my taste.

Blogger A said ... (7:13 AM) :

He definitely reminds me of James Dean.
In my opinion, the only thing which is wrong here is the shoes, gosh no !

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (6:06 PM) :

Everybody is talking about his hair. But it's the bag that makes this picture complete.

Dean & Deluca is what it's all about.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:14 PM) :

No, not James Dean but he pulls off a cool look. The outfit is very street but the hair makes it. Great hair and a very relaxed cool. Not everyone could make this work. This guy does it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:56 AM) :

James Dean???? :) my immediate thought was Morrisey :)

Blogger seoul person said ... (7:49 AM) :

6:00 p.m. - You sound a bit jealous, no?

The look appears effortlessly stylish but I highly doubt it is. Very good looking and deserving of the heaps of praise being lavished upon him.

I think this guy is a hair stylist. This looks like him backstage at the Rick Owens show with hairspray and brush (?) in hand!

I could gauge the demographics breakdown of this site by the proportion of Dean/Moz/Perry comments.

I have a haircut that could easily by styled like this. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what I could use to do this?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:05 PM) :

Being a hair stylist at Bumble & Bumble explains the hair. But the insouciant, rebellious, funny and goddamn sexy vibe remains a mystery. Rockstars aside, he's an original. Oh, how I love him!

Blogger Erika said ... (6:52 PM) :

i thought of morrisey right away. i love everything about this look, especially the sneaks, because it makes him look like he's not trying so hard (even though we all know it took him ages to get his hair like that). now i have to listen to "how soon is now". sigh...
