post a commentThe elegance of the banker aesthetic will never die. I love both of these looks. The men appear confident and in control. The pocket squares are the perfect dash of nuted color on the striped jackets. I veer away from double-breasted because I think it's a bit heavy and makes me look fat, but there is something to be said for the look here.

The suit (and shirt) sleeves in the first picture do not fit properly. Apart from that, it is a good look. More young workers in the City should wear double-breasted - it is nothing to be afraid of.
In the second, the wearer's unshaved look completely clashes with the pinstripes and double-breasted look. To achieve a successful business look, one cannot be half-hearted.

Fabulous! Finally there is people that can wear those suits without looking like Al Capone...
The first suit seems to fit well, but the choice of tie is utterly boring and doesn't go well with the look. A blue or a grey or a silver would do better.
The second look does not work in my opinion. I agree with the above comments about the shave -- did he misplace his razor? The suit itself for whatever reason looks like something off of a discount rack and makes him look like he's pregnant. The sunglasses are wrong too. Try again.
I'm guessing that the shirt sleeves in the top photo only LOOK too short because of the pose. Given the beauty of the shirt and the suit, and the fit at the neck, I want to believe that the fit of the sleeve is right.
I like the bottom photo a little less. It's still good, but it gives me a "trying too hard" vibe. Two buttons undone on the sleeve? Did you think we wouldn't notice if you only left one button undone? And, the pocket square that is made from the same fabric as the shirt is not my cup of tea. I prefer some contrast to add a little more color or drama. In this case, I think that if he'd gone with a pocket square that picks up the color of the polka dots in the necktie it would have been brilliant.
I like the bias cut on the sleeve-cuff. A nice subtle touch.
The sunglasses are really nice, but do they fit properly? It seems like the arms of the glasses are too high on his head (instead of down by his ears).
It's really a lovely suit, shirt, and tie on both these gents.
Not a big fan of stripes... I used to owned a couple of double breast suits but in the caribbean you no longer see many of them! Might be the weather.

The gentlemen on the bottom does a good job mixing patterns, but I would change up the pocket square. Matching the shirt completely looks a bit tacky to me. I'd personally like him to splash just a tad of green in there.
I agree...The first pic is outstanding. The pinstripe double breasted suit is to die for. The pocket square and its shape is great as well. He certainly has the haircut down. But I was thinking more Morrissey than Joy Division ;o)
I think these two pictures perfectly exemplify the difference in English and Italian style.
Whereas the English fellow has a very understated elegance with a softly tailored suit, quiet shirt and tie (but admittedly his shirt cuffs are to wide), the Italian with his open cuff buttons, matching handkerchief and shirt, big sunglasses and the facial hair, is is simply a peacock.
The double-breasted suit is the most dashing outfit,provided you are skinny...The cut of the second suit is better,and the attitude,a mixture of irony and nonchalance that is very compelling...This chap is totally at ease with the world.
Nice suit on the English guy, note the jetting of the pockets and the alignment of the pinstripes on the lapels & collar. The shape of the pocket square in relation to the peaked lapels. doesn't come cheap good to see.

Why should the second guy be shaved? Both photos update the bankers' look with a twist, so as to make it bearable - after all, who likes stiff bankers? The first one does it with the hair, the second with the unshaved look and the playful glasses.
The man in the london picture reminds me of Morrisey. I love his tie colour.
I love the first photo. He looks like he is standing there hearing someone talk, but trying not to listen to them. I am a fan of the suit as well.

Great styles, I love to see modern men in double breasted suits, as it's not too common these days. In the first picture the sleeves look like they could be longer, but I agree with the other commenters, it's just the pose that's causing that.
The top guy looks like he stepped out of a J.C. Leyendecker painting.

Love the first picture! The second picture looks like the guy had a suit tailor made (perfect fit over the sholders) but then lost a lot of wheight (in my oppinion the DB jacket is a bit to wide from the waist down). But maby it's just me :)

both jackets look like they have very little or no padding along the shoulder line, just a little in the sleeve head. that is fine but it makes a DB jacket look bottom heavy, especially when the bottom button is undone and it swings open as these 2 are. most older DBs would have had more padding in the shoulder to balance things out. the blue cotton DB in the earlier post below actually fairs much better because even though it has no padding the much larger lapels add weight up top and give it a much more flattering masculine look.

the fit on the first guy is fine for the most part, especially given the natural shoulder - the cuffs could be tighter, though one can't expect a cuff to be glued to someone's wrist regardless of his pose. the only real complaint i have here is the pairing of a four-in-hand with a cutaway collar.

Guy #1 gave me goosebumps the first time I saw him. His swagger is almost bleeding out onto my desk as we speak.
The new age hair with the sweet classic aesthetic...even the cellphone in place of a pocketwatch is genius.
I'm almost getting turned on by it.
I love both of these look. Just the hair of the firts guy seems desacorded with his style.

London suit is A&S, it seems - not a bad place to start when looking for a double-breasted suit.

The stripes (or perhaps the jacket shape, can't tell) make the bottom photo man look a bit heavy in the stomach area, but the stripes are really great on both men
The first one looks like a Jil Sander model in an Anderson & Sheppard suit, i.e., a strong juxtaposition. He looks rather affected and not too comfortable.
The second one looks like he's having fun, and has lots of character. He looks supremely comfortable and confident. Not too crazy about the pocket square matching the shirt, but other than that, fantastic.
Super chic and elegant!

i am pretty sure that I saw the first guy in the latest issue of Fortune magazine (with Miuccia Prada on the cover) in an article named trend setters. It was about the opinion makers and influencing people in the fashion industry. The subject gentleman was seen amongst the owners and tailors of Anderson & Shepherd. I believe he is a taylor in A&S.
