Here is the GAP Ad!

So, remember when I was shot for this back in April?

Well, here is the result.

Even though this blog is very personal it feels like it has grown bigger than me.

I used to occasionally post photos of myself, but now I feel much more self-conscious about doing that. However, this is a story that I shared a while ago and this feels like a fitting end on that episode.

Comments on "Here is the GAP Ad!"

Blogger Libby at Aurora Primavera said ... (7:10 PM) :

Not Bogie; more F. Scott; who with your blondness and features you resemble. That era was the best. My dad was born in 1915 and the photos of him at around 17 yrs. old-- wowza. The slicked back hair, the heft of a white shirt that was starched and pressed; the fall of pleated wool pants. It's all gone, the tailoring and the fabric (and the labor to launder, starch, press, etc. which was a "woman" who came to the house). Okay, I'll shut it. Keep up the fabulous work.

Blogger Erin said ... (7:17 PM) :

lovely on both sides of the lens...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:17 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:58 AM) :

Nice! True style comes from within and not through expensive garments.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:08 AM) :

You always look tense when you're photographed; perversely this is the opposite of the defining emotion of your photography - whatever they're wearing, the people you picture completely possess their style hence their person. However, if only someone had just made you laugh at this moment, I think you'd have achieved your personal style apotheosis: reminiscent of Fred Astaire! Your blog is the only thing in the world which makes me interested in fashion. Good night and good luck.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:12 AM) :

Dear Mr. Schuman,
You look wonderful & perfect. Your blog is the one I daily check.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:40 AM) :

Sart, baby, you give good tips on dress when you post pictures of yourself...you have to continue posting about yourself since the regulars like the update and the newbies wanna know who the stylish guy is that puts this blog together. You set the bar and you have a clean approach to this work, this blog would feel different with a different author. No, it might be large, but it hums "Scott Schuman"

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:41 AM) :

Mr.Sartorialist: I totally understand, as daily readers we don't realize that millions read your blog. You should get a counter. Another point...We post comments anonymous, not because we don't have blogs, its because we don't want you see how many times we visit and comment. Because we love you so much, we don't want you to mistake admiration for stalking and go deeper into your shell and become unapprochable. Don't be surprised when people begin follwing you and asking you for your autograph. What will we do when a major publication or designer takes you and forbid you from walking the streets freely.
People:Pick up a copy of Vanity Fair with Carla Bruni on the cover and you will have a copy of the ad.

you are truly HOT. You should definitely post more pictures of yourself. You're an inspiration, is it true you had no formal photography training? I'm going to move to New York and become a photographer...:)

I'd definitely do you, if you were so inclined! Congratulations on the ad, now you just have to get a couple more corporate sponsors (besides Gucci) for the blog, right? Keep up the good work! Jorge from W Palm Beach

Wheee! Congratulations, my man! You look utterly gorgeous and nobody deserves it more than you! (Well, okay, some people may deserve it more, but you definitely are amongst the deserving).

Congratulations on the lovely portrait -- it's classic and nothing to be self-conscious about. I have been a devoted reader of your blog for years, and I have enjoyed seeing each milestone (especially those windows at Saks a couple of years ago!) Keep doing what you do -- you have a special place in the fashion world!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:34 AM) :

Wow, That is a really classic photo, you can't go wrong with a crisp white shirt and a scarf to give it something extra special!

Scott:

While you are definitely rockin' the Oxford (and a signature Schulman Scarf), I cannot believe no one has pointed out you look like Rodin's "The Thinker".

Kudos to you on this achievement. Being immortalized in print to mass consumers everywhere. It would be total pop culture shock to me. But I respect your humility and quiet appreciation of the event.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:52 AM) :

I saw your ad in one of my Sept fashion mags & did a Dean Screan (like Howard Dean) and showed my husband!

Yay for you Scott!
