I think this guy works at Götrich (a classic men's wear store). I saw him a couple of days ago near the store and noticed how incredibly well-dressed he was. Very rare for men his age to have such well-fitting clothes!
Very interesting. Two things I liked right off the bat: the pocket square (JCrew made one just like it a couple of seasons ago, in Italian linen), and the skinny belt (Gucci made one which I still want). Seems like the suit is of a rather-trendy cut, the slacks seem to have a very low rise, which is a departure from what we usually see in this blog. Also, and it may just be the way the light hits the fabric, but the suit looks dirty (???) especially the lapel on our right and the bottom of the jacket on our left- does anyone else see this? Gray and black is a winning combination to be sure, and it is a nice balance between the traditional pocket square and the trndy cut and belt. Jorge from W Palm Beach

I was attracted to the belt and left pocket handkerchief, which complemented the black shirt perfectly.
The cut of the suit is flattering, and the stated presence of the cuffs suggests a young and sophisticated take on a traditional suit. Bravo!

Slightly shrunken jacket in an autumn shade of warm grey. Beautiful. And very nice with the black as the anchor. Fantastic how the white edging around the pocket square picks up on the reflection off the belt buckle.
Wow. Whish my dad would dress like that. That handkerchief makes the outfit perfect. Love the his expression.

The suit fits perfectly the grays in his hair and beard. Maybe I´d add just a bit more width to the shoulders and looseness to the jacket. Otherwise everything is ok.

I agree with the others. The sleeves look a tad too short and he definitely looks like Jack Nicholson! Overall it's a great look for him :)
The suit has a perfect fit, if it would be any more "loose" as mentioned above,it would look awful and baggy (what's the obsession with large non-fitting suits? it's not more comfortable). The pocket square gives it a great finishing look!

I like the white border on the pocket square - makes it stand out just enough but not too much. Also like the ring on his middle finger, right hand. (Yes a focus on details!)

I love the cut of the suit its a little bit shorter and more of a natural shoulder in the coat and the pocket square adds a little extra flair to the casual shirt. Great Look.

I have an aversion to linen and how wrinkled it gets, so I'm not a fan of the suit--but the pocket square is brilliant and I love how it matches his shirt perfectly.

Just curious. Why so many great pictures of mature men (like this one) and so few of mature women--women over 40? In my experience of people-watching in Paris, Rome, Stockholm, London, Edinburgh, Amsterdam, and New York, women over 40 not only have the life experience to create a unique personal style, but the self-awareness and confidence to carry it off. Again, just curious.

I just seeing people in nice suits. It's just too perfect. I love the handkerchief in on the pocket, it just makes it look complete, but relaxed.

Wow, the fit of the suit and the expression remind me so much of a circa 1960 (I think) picture of my Venetian uncle Mario, except the Sartorialist gentleman is not wearing a hat for some odd reason.

I was in Harvard Square today with my dog, Pastis and stopped for an apertif at the outside bar at Legal seafood. Two young women were passing out a magazine put out by H&M. I accepted one. Something to read while sitting at te bar. I was pleasantly surprised to see your gorgeous photo and interview on the last page. NICE!

It's all about eye contact and a smile, this outfit would have been incredible if he'd actually looked into the camera with confidence. Here, he's slouching and really doesn't want to be photographed.

Nice, but very basic indeed. It's only the handkerchief that makes difference between him and thousands of other "basic" men in streets of Stockholm..

Many things in that picture seems to be right and pretty. But overall there is something disturbing in that suit. The man is very charismatic and all, but I just cannot see the kind of elegance and fit that we can so often admire on pictures with, for example, Mr. Tonchi. But maybe is just the posture. This guy is clearly very relaxed...
Sart, I love everything about this blog. But must agree with Pearl and say I have noticed a distinct lack of women of a 'more mature' age group being featured. The dudes you feature are often fat, old, bald, etc. (but all fabulous) yet the chicks seem to all be skinny and young. This is no criticism, just a comment - I think what you do is brilliant - but perhaps this trend in your work is something you could comment on?

Tre cool. Why is it that when I let my salt and pepper whiskers grow for a few days, I look like I'm homeless, but on this guy it looks elegant?
God dawg, this man is fine! I want to have a lovely dinner with him and share a great bottle of barolo and have a meaningful conversation about Selma Lagerlöf and Ingmar Bergman and then go back to my hotel and release the rage of our desire on each other.... of course he would desire me -- hey, it's my fantasy, dude.

This fellow raises up the "basic" bar.
The the suit is lovely. I'm not normally one for the somewhat tight fitting jackets but this handsome man does it perfectly.
That pocket square really adds a bit of flair to an otherwise subdued ensemble. The unbuttoned collar, tucked into his jacket looks smart and casually cool. He's got the six o'clock shadow at just the perfect length -- it doesn't look pretentious on him.
There's not a detail left unattended and yet it all looks effortless.
He actually makes Stockholm look sexy....or at least he makes it seem like there could be some hidden eroticism lurking beneath those chilly exteriors.
My eyes went immediately to the pocket square, I so love that detail, really pulls a simple outfit together..And I always thought the sleeves of a suit jacket were supposed to fit were you see a tad bit of the shirt's cuff (like viewer's right arm, his left)?? I like the fit of the jacket very much--i think he's just slouching a bit, which makes the sleeves appear a lil shorter than they actually are..

I was going to make a crack about Americans being able to buy clothes that fit properly, but with the current Dollar to Euro exchange rate, I'll keep my mouth shut.
The navy with the warm grey is perfect. I'd hit it.
He is my dad. He is the best father in the world.
This look was not only perfectly tailored, coordinated and sprinkled with the correct balance of accessories (and a gadget). This look is worn by a man, that makes the look even that much more believable. He could sell 100,000 of these suits, in a 30 sec commercial spot.

i see taupe and navy after I enlarge the photo. I agree with Jorge that the suit looks dirty. and the sleeves are too short. overall he looks unkempt, which maybe is what he's going for, especially considering his slouchy posture. I think he's better looking than Jack N.
I particularly like the belt and European cut jacket. I have one from Hugo Boss which gives that same effect and I associate it with European, particularly German cut suits. The black shirt works very well too. All in all it speaks class and style.
