On the Street.....Hard Angles- Soft Edges, Paris

Usually the clothes provide the hard edges and the hair the soft edges. I love how Vika has turned that concept upside down

She is different. Love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:59 AM) :

Great post! Vika's haircut is fierce! I particularly like the subtlety of the top shot, the soft wool and curves of her body contrasting with the sharp pleats of her skirt and the detail on her shoes. It even picks up in her make up with her eyes quite hard and hair soft. Inspirational.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:00 AM) :

A piece of Art, how delightful

Blogger Brigadeiro said ... (5:09 AM) :

Wow, love the look! Showing my ignorance here, but who is Vika?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:22 AM) :

your pics are nice too! may i know what cam, lens & settings are? did u done any photoshop after that? thanx for the enlightenment!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:05 AM) :

Nice. I'm not sure she's very elegant, but the outcome is nice

Blogger mimo said ... (7:06 AM) :

the most beautiful haircut i have ever seen :xxxxx

Blogger Be said ... (7:13 AM) :

I love the hair cut. It's very original and i like that the front is longer than the back

Blogger Stine said ... (7:16 AM) :

wow, I love it too.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:34 AM) :

I'm not usually a fan of geometrical, achingly hip haircuts, but this woman really works it. I also like her contrast of hard versus soft which she does in an original way. There are so many floaty dresses paired with tough shoes going around; this is a refreshing twist.

Blogger Chi-Chi and the Greek Vintage said ... (7:37 AM) :

I love everything about her, especially the hair!!!! It's perfect for her face!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:49 AM) :

Wow, yeah! Quite unnerving. Feminine? I think so!

Blogger e l l e said ... (8:24 AM) :

I'd never have thought that anybody could pull off a hairstyle like that, but she has!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:33 AM) :

"...and that's what fashion is all about, Charlie Brown..."

Blogger InStudio Blog said ... (8:44 AM) :

My initial reaction to her in the first photo was "cute". My initial reaction to her in the second photo was "Ugh, why?" I'm not diggin' the haircut, guess I'm the buzz kill.

Blogger Celia said ... (9:01 AM) :

Very inspiring.

Blogger Diane said ... (9:19 AM) :

Love that long sweater --looks so comfortable

Blogger starbahks said ... (9:23 AM) :

i love how she's wearing her outerwear in the second picture.
perfect!

Blogger der bildverlust said ... (9:28 AM) :

Her haircut is great and so is she! Cheers to her! And you!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:57 AM) :

i have never seen such a fierce haircut with such elegance. remarkable.

she looks stunning.

Blogger John B Pritchett said ... (10:01 AM) :

Uh oh. I may be the odd person out but the hair is too severe for me. I do applaud her for trying something different.

Blogger Olviya said ... (10:02 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:10 AM) :

Simply amazing on her - she oozes confidence. A haircut can change your life. I bet this did for her.

Blogger E.V.T. said ... (10:11 AM) :

Good look!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:19 AM) :

my older sister had that haircut in 1984.
looks cool again.

Blogger sadia said ... (10:25 AM) :

thumbs up!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:54 AM) :

I like all your observartions!
Thank you for sharing.
Merci Beaucoup!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:09 AM) :

Totally agree. She's bold and gorgeous. If I could get my hair to be anything but curly and voluminous, I'd love a harder/edgier cut...sigh.

Blogger masha said ... (11:44 AM) :

vika gazinskaya is an incredible russian designer

Blogger Milt-fresh_best-dressed said ... (11:59 AM) :

Definetyly a break away from the norm of women's hair. Mskes a very bold statement that was needed in the world.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:09 PM) :

So interesting! Do you have a larger version of the second picture?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:09 PM) :

What a great haircut - very interesting and I love the angles. Love the clothes too.

Blogger PunkiMeowMeow said ... (12:19 PM) :

Love it! Vika can carry a hair cut like this because she dresses the part. It's a total look from head to toe. I love short hair but it's high maintenance. You would have to get it cut every couple of weeks to keep it looking fresh.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:38 PM) :

there are more and more of these edgier short sharp crops popping up all over...makes a refreshing change from the layered hair tong look!

Blogger mette said ... (1:26 PM) :

The first pic looks real comfortable.

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (1:43 PM) :

No, Scott, you've got it all wrong.

It's equal! Her cloths and her hair...both hard edged!

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:09 PM) :

Is it also shorter on the right side? I wish I could see a 360º view. I love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:31 PM) :

I love her. Her style is unique. She killed it in the first picture. Such sophistication. I am in awe.lol

Blogger cautiondriverknitting said ... (2:40 PM) :

I think this haircut is innovative. I know it had its moment in the 80's, too, but the fringe is perfect with a great angle and the proportion of fringe to higher shape in the back is really, really good. On the technical side of things, there is a little blendy part right over the ear that needs to be part of that straight line in the back. way cool and refreshing to see someone pull off this look who is young and beautiful. It's hair model at a hair show hair.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:53 PM) :

With directional haircuts I think the only way to go with your clothes is a softer look.....or a well tailored trouser suit....maybe

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:26 PM) :

she used to say taht she can't leave her home without being late and perfect hairdo

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:24 PM) :

What a bold cut!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:32 PM) :

What does Vika do?

Blogger Paul Pincus said ... (5:32 PM) :

i LOVE her hair. stunning.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:06 PM) :

Yes, way to go Vika! You are such a genius.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:13 PM) :

estou apaixonada!!!!

Love ya Sart!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:13 PM) :

That haircut is too 'Joan of Arc'. Burning logs anywhere?

Blogger Aussie said ... (10:52 PM) :

so fresh and beautiful and clean!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:27 PM) :

true, and her hair was such a suprise when she turned her head

Blogger Medusa said ... (11:55 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:27 AM) :

Blogger Annon said ... (5:52 AM) :

I love the effect of shot # 1!
The softness of her skirt blends beautifuly with her top, and the Hair is just perfect for this style!
Bold dark eyes to go with the soft texture of her attire.
Stunning.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:04 AM) :

She is Vika Gazinskaya, russian designer. always very inspirational in her designs and in her way of dressing.

Blogger  said ... (10:54 AM) :

Wow ! O__0
j'adore sa coupe de cheveux !!
Si je la croise à Paris je lui saute dessus...(commentaire bien inutile, gomen)

Blogger bomb.ass.ting said ... (12:18 PM) :

soo beautiful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:00 PM) :

Even her name has a hard edge...

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:03 PM) :

I wish I could see the coat in the bottom picture better. It looks lovely!

Blogger dwashington314@gmail.com said ... (1:56 AM) :

The first pic is exactly the reason to click on every pic to enlarge it. Only when I did, did I see all the great textures she put together from the light of that great skirt to the batwings of that incredible sweater. And the drops!

Ok, I'm gushing.

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:57 PM) :

LUV the flats! A girl can never have too many pairs.

Blogger Isabelle said ... (4:28 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:28 PM) :

A+++ hair

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:06 PM) :

I went to a Vidal Sassoon cutter who gave me something quite similar. It looked great, but you can only really pull it off if you have an expensive modernist wardrobe. Unfortunately that is not me.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:21 PM) :

she is spectacular; a work of art.
so minimalist and original.

makes me think of a modern day Dominique Francon (The Fountainhead, by Ayn Rand). not necessarily the way she is in the movie, but definitely in the novel.

Blogger Marian said ... (8:08 AM) :

Vika style is innate. This is a woman who knows herself style wise, she has arrived. The shots as ever are amazing.
great perspective.

Blogger nidyawiguno said ... (5:07 AM) :

really nice haircut!

Blogger Jor said ... (4:24 PM) :

I adore this look -- what a modern day Sally Bowles might look like after rehab. The hair is magnetic and the soft and slouchy clothes lend an air of humanity and warmth to what could be a cold geometry lesson. Well played.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:50 PM) :

Be funny if it went curly when it rained and I bet it's a bastard to grow out but cute and original all the same.x

Blogger Natalia Romashko said ... (6:44 AM) :

she's a genius! like her style so much!she makes nice clothes but she became a trend herself.

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:38 AM) :

This is fantastic - she reminds me of a friend of my parents in the early to mid 80's who was devoted to Matsuda and so many soft shouldered, drapey garments, but always had incredibly razor sharp hair. I think she even had it cut once a week.

Blogger Manolo said ... (3:42 AM) :

That top photo has had me pondering for days : what magic made her pick those three items in her wardrobe (grey jumper + pleated, white skirt + shoes), all so dull when taken apart from one another, and all so brilliant, witty, stylish and I should even say obvious when brought together ?... I guess "an inner sense of style" is the answer, and this photo is yet another reminder that it's not those who try the hardest who achieve it. I happen to like that a lot.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:46 PM) :

In photo about she remember me a Françoise Sagan's "ninphette

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:22 PM) :

cute shoes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:56 AM) :

I love this look

Blogger K'arhol said ... (4:47 PM) :

Like her bob

Anonymous ruya tabirleri said ... (6:14 AM) :
