On the Street...Tailored Tee, Paris

Looks better on the girl. She looks so effortlessly chic.

Blogger Stratos Bacalis said ... (8:35 AM) :

The first one is a slim fit tee, yo ucan find them anywhere in Europe, got a purple one from Zara the other day. The second one is soooo cleverly draped!

Blogger Jorge from W Palm Beach said ... (8:38 AM) :

2 key elements to a plain white t-shirt, it has to fit the shoulders (like his does) and it has to be of substantial weight to smooth over chest hair and nipples (like hers doesn't and I expect we'll see more postings on that). It is a great look if that all pieces of the outfit are basic, well constructed, and well-fitted. I adore those persols and may have to buy me a pair soon! Jorge from W Palm Beach

Blogger Ivy Lane said ... (8:41 AM) :

He wears it much better than she...

Blogger The Khaki Crusader said ... (8:44 AM) :

i think the cortina shot was on mens style, no? i love the length of the tee, it ever so subtlely hits the top of the pants. the photo of the girl is great - formal pleated wool trousers with a plain white t - its a great juxtipostion.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:53 AM) :

So sweet this girl...

Blogger Brightlightwarriornika said ... (8:53 AM) :

Nice and Fresh

Blogger Miss Urbanita said ... (8:55 AM) :

Basic white tee fits everything.

Blogger starbahks said ... (9:05 AM) :

ohh her pleats are PERFECT.
i also love the way her gorgeous bangs are blowing.
great shot, sart!

Blogger *L said ... (9:06 AM) :

white tees rule. always. and. forever.

Blogger Ben Schmidt said ... (9:19 AM) :

Is this really tailored or is it just too small for him?

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:21 AM) :

I don't think I really like Muscles Magee, on the top. He looks too James Dean-ish. I men's trousers on the young lady, below, though. It's cute. Is she wearing a head band?

Blogger John-Bryan Hopkins said ... (9:23 AM) :

Amen

The T-shirt is always a good choice.

A great fallback for that day you just want to be comfortable.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:26 AM) :

In both pictures, the trousers are more remarkable than the tee

Blogger Dan in Richmond said ... (9:27 AM) :

My favorite post of the gentleman, who pretty much defines basic accessories here and chooses them in perfect scale. When you wear a watch and carry a phone the watch becomes mainly an accessory and I've noticed a lot of people dispensing with them lately, but he knows better- the look needs the watch. Classic. The young woman looks just as classic in her own way. A simple outfit and her freshness is all she needs.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:30 AM) :

if done stylishly, as both of these are, you don't look like my dad mowing the lawn. bravo to both.

Blogger maggie_hogan said ... (9:35 AM) :

white t-shirt aside (yes, it's fabulous), i love this girl's pants!!! of course i am always looking for inspiration for my own personal style, and these are pants that i think even girls without perfect long and skinny barbie legs can wear!
unless... will a big booty mess them up??
oh, the laments of a pear-shaped lady...

Blogger Dan in Richmond said ... (9:36 AM) :

What is Jorge talking about? She doesn't have any chest hair!

Blogger The Spicers said ... (9:37 AM) :

Both worn so well. Love her pleated pants.

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (9:40 AM) :

She is adorable. Love her trousers. More than her outfit, I love this shot - her hair blowing - perfectly timed.

Blogger MAJoR said ... (9:40 AM) :

No wardrobe should ever be without one of these! Sean John (believe it or not) makes a GREAT version ... high quality cotton, slim in the midsection, tapered at the sleeve, and comes three to a pack ... im wearing one under my biker jacket now :-)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:41 AM) :

The girls outfit is so perfect, love it, black and white and nothing more. Simple and stylish!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:46 AM) :

i feel like the white tee on the guy is too tight for his age. the woman pulls it off perfectly. they both embody the simplicity and beauty of a white tee.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:51 AM) :

Your boyfriend's back and there's gonna be trouble...

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:09 AM) :

The top photo demonstrates that fit is everything. The outfit is exactly what my 83 year old dad wears to the breakfast table. It looks better on this guy. :-)

Blogger Laura said ... (10:16 AM) :

He's hot

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:18 AM) :

Well, simple but not spectacular at all...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:37 AM) :

His looks Too Small, or Dryer-shrunken, not "tailored." Looks like the ones my father used to have to throw away after too many years of use. Nothing elegant about it. It's 'okay' across the chest, but the arms are too "too," as if he's just too vain about his arms. Sorry. I've loved just about everything else i've seen him in. The pants are great. And, Persols. Why no iPhone, though? What up with that?

She looks cute, but her shirt is unremarkable.

I have to strongly disagree with Jorge's comment above. I see no need to "smooth over" a woman's nipples.... Nipples good.

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:37 AM) :

both their outfits are so simple but it's that sense of confidence they're exuding that really makes their look. especially the girl. she seems so effortlessly well put-together.

/envy

Blogger tal said ... (10:55 AM) :

I love the simplicity of both outfits, though I wish we could see the girl's face. She looks like a friend I have yet to meet...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:55 AM) :

Anon said, "In both pictures, the trousers are more remarkable than the tee."

I've always seen that as the point of wearing a white t-shirt (or a white button-down.) The simplicity allows the other elements of your outfit and you accessories to stand out more. I agree with Dan in Richmond that the watch is a pivotal part of his look. The sunglasses (Persol I believe) serve the same purpose. In both photos they demonstrate an ability to use a classic piece to build a great look. Well done Sart.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:02 AM) :

the first one is pretty hot. OMFG. someone knows him? ;)

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:07 AM) :

I once heard the line "the best style accessory is to be fit." I really think this is true. The reason such a simple look works for that guy is that he is in great shape.

Style is about looks, and fitness is an integral part of that. We all have different body types that we have to work with, but why not make your style choices more flexible by remembering the above line.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:16 AM) :

is he rockin the persol or tom ford shades? they look kind of like my tom ford's but the bridge makes me think they might be persol.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:27 AM) :

a little blown out, no?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:29 AM) :

she looks effortless, i think it works. i'm not sure that it's such a good thing on him... maybe less of the 'gun show' and a more of an understated fit on the guy. not diggin it with those pants, is that wrong?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:41 AM) :

Nothing fresher than a nice t, but I agree that the guy's is just too tight. On a side note, love the lady's pants! Yay pleats yay!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:43 AM) :

A fitted tee is the last thing I need (LOL). But it looks great on him. And she looks adorable!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:43 AM) :

I hope this comment is not too racy. What makes the look for the woman is the hint of nipple. It changes the look from sweet to sexy.
Scott, I apologize if you feel this comment is inappropriate.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:44 AM) :

That's odd; just this morning in college I was envying a girl who had on a very similar pair of pinstriped trousers. She kind of resembled the girl in the picture too. Paired with the white T-shirt it looks great - smart and simple but also fresh and interesting.

I'm not altogether keen on the guy's outfit, though - just a little too tight IMHO, it comes across as kind of narcissistic rather than effortless.

Blogger Emily Pfeifer said ... (11:52 AM) :

Good lord, who knew Mr. Cortina had that body under his fabulous clothes? Thank you, sir!

Blogger saray said ... (11:58 AM) :

very clean nice look

Blogger beths said ... (12:08 PM) :

Thanks to Jorge, ben schmidt, and ck dexter haven for interrogating the term "tailored" here. Neither shirt looks tailored to me, but they fit all right in the ways their wearers seem to desire. I, too, think a little more nipple coverage would enhance the woman's look--this look is more for the beach.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:19 PM) :

Anon said, "I've always seen that as the point of wearing a white t-shirt (or a white button-down.) The simplicity allows the other elements of your outfit and you accessories to stand out more. But the whole point of the entry is the tailored tee and not the other pieces of clothing/accesories on them, isn't it?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:24 PM) :

gotta have those pleated pants she's wearing!

Blogger Shawna Elizabeth said ... (12:32 PM) :

That top look is classic Brando, right down to the slightly high waisted cut of the trousers. For the film version of Streetcar Named Desire they altered a shirt and shrank it to his form before shooting- they did not manufacture fitted tees at the time.

Blogger Hadley Makes said ... (12:36 PM) :

They look cold... but so cool!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:39 PM) :

Wake me when this one is over. Yawn.

Blogger Hannah Stephenson said ... (12:39 PM) :

Her windblown hair is lovely. She makes the pants look adorable.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:47 PM) :

ohhh, the girl is so perfect!

Blogger .......... said ... (1:01 PM) :

she bangs!

Blogger Dominica said ... (1:04 PM) :

Wow ! Mickey Rourke in his glory days !!
Wanna bet he has a dozen of those white shirts just like the Mickey Rourke character had in 9 and a 1/2 weeks ?

Blogger Jorge from W Palm Beach said ... (1:05 PM) :

Well, I was wrong, no one else commented on the nipples except for a reply to my comment. I would guess for something to wear to work or during the day, visible nipples would not always be acceptable. For evenings and, ahem, certain places, they would be fab. Jorge from W Palm Beach

Blogger Dominica said ... (1:12 PM) :

extra comment :
when I opened up the picture of the girl I fell completely for her trousers...I'm a sucker for pinstripes, anytime - anywhere....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:43 PM) :

Yet another person wearing the classic Persol 614 sunglass. I'm going to start referring my clients to this site. The they will see first hand how effortless and cool that particular sunglass is.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:46 PM) :

The beautiful young lady and handsome gentleman are both spectacular looking in their sleek white tees. It's their very presence that draws me in-- not what they're wearing: You can't hide behind the stark simplicity of a white tee. Nothing to do with fashion, just pure style and confidence.

And your composition is awesome sir! Your uncanny ability to capture that one perfect fleeting moment in time that defines the your subject's style is always inspiring.

Thanks for sharing,
PLO

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:52 PM) :

This man is handsome and sexy! Who cares about whether his t-shirt is shrunken or tailoered! WOOF! He ahs style in spades!

Blogger Hek said ... (2:22 PM) :

Adore the girl with the pleated pants! Love how she looks so relaxed and comfortable.

Blogger thwany said ... (2:37 PM) :

less is more.

i love it.

Blogger Carine U said ... (2:37 PM) :

looks so effortless! love the bangs! :)

Blogger Olviya said ... (2:41 PM) :

i think her PANTS are more interesting))

Blogger Pam said ... (2:52 PM) :

I just LOVE these photos! I really like the simple look and a great fitting white t-shirt is one of my favorite staples!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:02 PM) :

Top photo: George Cortina or Mickey Rourke?
;-)

The girl in the bottom pic is adorable. I love her face and hair!

Blogger Nick Bograd said ... (3:03 PM) :

Great simple look the bright white give a great look to the outfits.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:29 PM) :

same tee?

Blogger Helen said ... (4:08 PM) :

Wonderful photo's! Basic white tee is always a closet staple. I print the man's photo. After 2 years of being divorced...just the look I would like in my life! Maybe the man too...Thanks for making my day!
Best to you....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:24 PM) :

LOVE LOVE LOVE the girl. I like to think I have a picture from middle school somewhere looking like this. Nipples... who cares we all have them unless we have been involved in some freak (freak accident).
I like the guy. I don't love him. I think a fitted tee on a guy is a nice thing and there is something endearing about the hair that looks like Jack Nicolaus (sp?)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:06 PM) :

Oh my God, I felt in love with him!!!!!!!!!

Blogger southerngentinL.A. said ... (5:14 PM) :

the dude: I normally hate this look but it works for him.
the girl: SEXY!!!!.....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:17 PM) :

To lux lisbon

Sorry, bad news, but fashion is always... kind of narcissistic

Good news... there are uniforms...

To others
Is not about age.. it´s about fitness....

thanks

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:20 PM) :

Love the simplicity of the last look -black and white, but a great silhouette. Her haircut is interesting too -cute bangs.

Blogger Petulia said ... (5:22 PM) :

Love it! white tees are the best

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:09 PM) :

love the girl. those pants are going to be something big soon, i can smell it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:50 PM) :

Does anyone know where to buy pleated trousers like hers?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:30 PM) :

maybe there are some jealous guys posting that his shirt is too small?

maybe...you have a large gut that would make you look like a oompa loompa if you wore something similar?

Blogger Tigress said ... (10:02 PM) :

"Looks better on the girl. She looks so effortlessly chic."

I disagree, but that might be because I'm resisting the urge to fly to Paris and tear his off.

Blogger HL said ... (12:12 AM) :

With the jacket on, I think the look would be more complete... possibly negating the "too tight comments" or what not for the gentleman... For the beautiful woman, I think that the t-shirt is perfect. Nipples in Paris won't raise anyone's eyebrows.

Blogger Pearl said ... (2:52 AM) :

It's too cold for this in Paris! I'm shivering just looking at the pictures!

Blogger poor guy fashion victim said ... (4:48 AM) :

perfect

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:48 AM) :

Hers was lovely. So fresh and so clean. Simple yet elegant.

Blogger Sasha said ... (6:24 AM) :

her look: simple; perfect.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:05 AM) :

really love that clean and fresh look of the girl...she looks so cute and somehow undramatically beautiful.very natural also as her hais looks so healthy and unstyled and i can't recognise make-up...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:06 AM) :

Oh my god this guy is sooo hot! Great shape in his 40's...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:10 AM) :

To anonymous, 5:17PM -

Aw, as soon as I hit 'Publish' I knew someone was going to say that! I personally tend to think of narcissism as being a negative attribute applying to one's whole personality rather than aesthetic vanity, and very different to simply wanting to look good or being into fashion.
Anyway, it was a harsh choice of wording; I was just trying to imply that I thought it looked overtly self-conscious, but looking back, he does actually look really good - it commands attention, rather than seeking it as I had previously thought.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:05 PM) :

i'm dying to know what she had on her feet... Sart?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:39 PM) :

Is that the guy you shot ages ago, wearing the polo with high side vents... he was wearing something similar to this photo. It suits him well...

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:39 PM) :

I believe those are Persols 714

Blogger Rich said ... (7:56 PM) :

well! let me be the first gay man to just go ahead and say WOOF to the first pic. i adore this look. this man understands simplicity. and the pants are almost better than the shirt.
as a man who has as much grey and white in his beard as this one, i certainly won't be feeling depressed about it anymore!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:29 PM) :

I believe that's Jorge Cortina, the famous stylist. I sure wish someone would identify the trousers ... I would like to get the exact pair! Somebody? Please?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:11 PM) :

white t that fits really well, like these two, are hard to find...these two pictures show the importance of knowing your fit.

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:11 AM) :

Im actually rather bored of the white "let me pretend I dont care how I look" tee, specially if you carry your blazer like that. Just simply dull

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:14 AM) :

omg she's unbelievably hot...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:43 AM) :

People, People, c'mon! they both look great!

Blogger R/V said ... (3:32 AM) :

I think it looks awesome, Guy looks as he is killin it, What shoes do you think he is wearing?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:58 AM) :

Nipples ? They hardly show. What is this obsession with nipples ?

Blogger Sofia & Flo said ... (8:03 AM) :

The pants on her are Isabel Marant, I can also tell the shop behind is Isabel marant in Paris.
My favourite place!!
Great shots

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:28 PM) :

Now THIS is inspiration. After years of over-complication it's good to see simplicity back in the picture...

Blogger L said ... (6:42 PM) :

One can never go wrong with a simple white tee shirt!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:11 PM) :

both invitingly beautiful. 'less is more' is too often misused but not in this case. here it actually serves to accentuate the immaculate beauty of the body.

Blogger Allen - East Hampton said ... (10:40 AM) :

for men, a fitted white tee on a worked-out bod with basic chinos or jeans is the equivalent of a woman's little black dress. a favorite uniforms for myself & i think he looks great. age isn't a factor. another plus here: no tats, piercings or other gimmicks, which would ruin it.

Blogger B.R. said ... (11:36 AM) :

Yet another example that effortless 'cool' can be translated flawlessly via a simple white t-shirt.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:05 PM) :

Where would I find a t-shirt the same equivalent as this. It is so hard to find a tee these days without some stuppid graphic on it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:34 PM) :

love her look - the hair esp. i want the trousers -any ideas where from? also wondering what kind of shoes she was wearing? suggestions?

Blogger h said ... (2:46 PM) :

So effortless! Two of my wardrobe staples- a plain slim-fitting white tee and a loose-fitting black trouser. I am interested to see what shoes she's wearing though.

That man is o so very charming.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:16 PM) :

Could his t-shirt be any shorter and tighter?:-) I don't see anything special about his outfit.
The girl, on the other hand, looks great. Love her pants.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:22 PM) :

i really like the white t-shirt look. you cant beat it with a pair of great raw jeans. classic 50's america thing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:59 PM) :

Simple but cute! :D

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:46 AM) :

Persol 649, Great glasses.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:36 AM) :

I think she looks a bit dossy.. the white tee looks effortless, but the pants looks nice though
