Blogger starbahks said ... (10:02 AM) :

he's beautiful, sart!
i love his pant length.
the sweater's perfect.

Blogger TMFA said ... (10:04 AM) :

it's supposed to be freezing in NYC, yet all these men are wearing their trousers way up. Don't get them wet.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:09 AM) :

really nice shoes!!!! I like very much his style, simple but sofisticated, not being too vain. good for you!

Blogger Dan in Richmond said ... (10:10 AM) :

This is a great casual look with nice proportions. I think the silhouette would be slightly better without the cargo pockets, and a pair of socks could actually add something to this look, but he looks good.

Blogger jkh said ... (10:29 AM) :

perfection from toes to waistline

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:56 AM) :

Pants too short, too many flappity pockets-- but, it's his body so the hell with it. Sashay on, trend setter!

Blogger Allen - East Hampton said ... (10:58 AM) :

now here's exactly when the short pants look works: unstudied, casual, nice mix. bravo all around.

Blogger Jonathan said ... (11:09 AM) :

His boots remind me of a pair that I found in Florence. I wore them into the ground. I really miss those boots. The pants are interesting, but not for me. However the fabric is very appealing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:10 AM) :

perfect - he's a man i'd let take me home...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:26 AM) :

I hope that this picture wasn't taken today. It is way too cold for that outfit, as wonderful as it is.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:29 AM) :

what kind of pants are those?

Blogger sadia said ... (11:37 AM) :

oh he's gorgeuos!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:39 AM) :

pants are phillip lim
so is the sweater

i like the the colors he put together..
and i actually like the pant length..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:40 AM) :

That sweater is gorgeous! Anyone know where to get one like it?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:50 AM) :

blah blah blah.

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:58 AM) :

I've not been a huge fan of pants with cargo-esque pockets, for a while. But, I really like the color of the pants. They almost look two-toned, like silk - that could just be the result of the afternoon sun and a contrasty photo. Great cardigan, too. The desert boots have a sort of funny shape to them - his feet look long - but it's not bad, it's just interesting.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:08 PM) :

Wow. I love this kind of look on a man. Is he wearing a tie with his shirt?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:09 PM) :

He is perfection in my book. Hipsters, scenesters, hypebeasts have nothing on this man-- a true individual in the spirit of The Sartorialist in an ocean of pretenders.

BTW, for all those pointing out how cold the weather is in NYC for such attire: I don't think these pics were taken exactly on Nov. 24 ;-)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:09 PM) :

love the hair...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:17 PM) :

Not feeling it. Cant get with those pants

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:20 PM) :

I like the cardi quite a bit. Lovely color and interesting pattern. It fits him well.
It looks like his feet are huge. Maybe it is the short, narrow pants that make his feet appear so big.

Blogger Tamás said ... (12:21 PM) :

but tell me what is wrong with socks nowadays? shall we never wear socks ever again?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:23 PM) :

This is one of the fresher looks you've posted in a while. I need some boots like that.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:31 PM) :

cool man!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:47 PM) :

he's got a great look. love the bracelets and no socks...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:51 PM) :

his outfit is well balanaced and this is definitely the right way to wear short pants

Blogger Bedlam said ... (12:55 PM) :

he is nice looking, 'dont tell hubby'
he does need to work on his pants. where are the winter photo of NYC?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:01 PM) :

Good casual look. Simple style works great on men.

Not really for the younger guys but very nice anyway

Blogger Jorge from W Palm Beach said ... (1:14 PM) :

Great outfit. The shoes are a few sizes too large- few sizes. Look at where his little toe makes an indentation on the suede!!! This young man found a great pair of boots at a good price and bought them. I have been known to do that :). I also like the frames and how they complement the shape of his face. Jorge from W Palm Beach

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (1:23 PM) :

i want his shades!! and his sweater. :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:24 PM) :

great follow-up to yesterday. i like how this man has executed the look.

Blogger Dominica said ... (1:25 PM) :

indeed, the better way of wearing shorty pants...
Perfect shoes to match this look and if he was my man, I's steal his cardigan....

Blogger LRB said ... (1:28 PM) :

His casual day look has some sophisticated touches to it, like pairing the sweater w/the semi-cargo pants.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:53 PM) :

ai ai ai, its great

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:00 PM) :

tip to canadians:

almost exactly the same desert boot is on sale now at joe fresh for $20. i freaked out when i found them.

(and no, im not being hired on by joe fresh... i just was really really excited when i found them)

Blogger Marquis de Lannes said ... (2:04 PM) :

Naturalmente beau!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:15 PM) :

I love the sweater, watch, and sunglasses.
The pants are poorly proportioned, and the shoes look like they're off a clown. I don't like the shine of both the shirt and the pants. Too shiny!

Blogger sandro stivella said ... (2:36 PM) :

Excelente concepto de fotografía de modas, son lo máximo espero que siempre existan propuestas tan acertadas como la de ustedes. la ropa, super nice!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:43 PM) :

effortless... I do adore this mix of sophisticated laid back style and the right pieces of the moment: those old looking Clarcks ... I am in love with...the shoes I meant
The Brigade de la mode likes it...
Bravo ragazzo

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:45 PM) :

.. I am not really crazy about this outfit, I've seen much better on this website! The guy is a cutie, though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:58 PM) :

Phillip Lim 3.1... He's a manager in the Phillip Lim NYC store.. really cool guy!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:12 PM) :

Head to toe 3.1 Phillip Lim. Kudos for pulling it off so well.

Blogger Michael Joseph Owens said ... (3:15 PM) :

This guy's bare ankles packaged as they are look so much more interesting than the suited guy from the other day. Like the whole combo.

Blogger TEXTSTYLES said ... (3:27 PM) :

Monsieur Sartorialist
you are an endless wealth of inspiration.
any words of wisdom?

bisous

Blogger Cris Piera said ... (3:33 PM) :

really nice look but isn't he too short to wear it? he looks a bit as if big foot had come to NYC with those shoes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:35 PM) :

the shoes make his feet look huge in proportion to everything else (especially when combined with the pant length)

overall the look is nice, if a little scattered.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:42 PM) :

I'm pretty sure that all of these pictures were taken before the cold weather hit.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:26 PM) :

Well - Downunderboy has been up in China for a week and just look at what I have missed out on!!!
My God - there has been a fashion whirlwind while I have been out of action. I am placing this collective comment here due to the fact that there is just SO much I have missed.
Scott - all the images of the past week are gorgeous.
God I have missed you!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:08 PM) :

So simply sophisticated...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:21 PM) :

everything you vwear looks nice in the NYC sun.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:26 PM) :

THE perfect androgynous look...

btw - the pants are 3.1 phillip lim

Blogger The Clever Pup said ... (5:29 PM) :

This guy's over at Altamira too and frankly it alludes me as to WHY.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:34 PM) :

he is bea-ti-ful! i like the slimmer fit and the colors are so soothing. but the length? well it's good that he has enough confidence to walk around like that in NYC.

Blogger Sakuteiki said ... (5:37 PM) :

Phillip Lim from head to toe.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:05 PM) :

I find it bafflingly that some are saying, "Hipsters, scenesters, hypebeasts have nothing on this man-- a true individual". Really?
In my opinion, this look came straight out of a magazine or store catalog.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:12 PM) :

my man este kills it. taught me everything i know.

nice photo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:21 PM) :

I could not love those boots more.

Blogger Dan in Richmond said ... (7:48 PM) :

Responses to various posts without citing them specifically: His feet don't look huge to me nor does he look too short for the outfit. I see nothing androgynous about this at all and why would it not be for young guys- is it for older guys? The glasses do compliment his face- that's part of the overall proportions, which I think work. I think one could look confident wearing just about anything in NYC and I'm tired of comments about the weather- he looks comfortable enough! Thank you.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:47 PM) :

actually thinking this is pretty bad

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:34 PM) :

So, bare ankles are the new erogenous zone?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:14 PM) :

Sart, have you looked in Grand Central Terminal - around commuting time in the evening or morning - for NYC locals - ?

Blogger Poulenc said ... (10:18 PM) :

Am I the only person who feels that "short" is over? I mean, done.

In the early summer, I happened to find myself face-to-face with T. Brown. We were both trying to get a cab on Central Park West.

His mufti: semi-demi Little Lord Fontleroy. Suddenly I saw how very, very iffy his look was for anyone out of their twenties. And even for the young, one had to be very, very careful, especially if tall.

So I say, bye-bye, short. You been a good ol' wagon (sorta) but you done broke down.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:18 PM) :

Adore the high pants with pockets. The the non-traditional grey sweater is what seals the deal.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:48 PM) :

Awesome Fit...

Blogger megwood said ... (12:16 AM) :

yeah, he knows what he's doing.

Blogger Kanani said ... (12:17 AM) :

I love this look. He'd fit in most anywhere and with most any group.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:23 AM) :

You are a funny man Sart. You saw all the hoo haa of negative comments yesterday from the short length pants guy, so you wanted to show those people a similar short length pant that looks more "conventional", so that they can all be swayed, the way that they indeed have been. You're a genius. And this guy does look quite wonderful. The shorter length pant does belong on Main Street after all.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:36 AM) :

Maybe it's just me but the overall
look is totally disconnected. Waist down he appears casual and sock free in designer surplus. But above the waist is a whole other direction with a buttoned up satin shirt and a tight engineered chest cable cardigan. With sleeves pushed bracelet length and celebrity frames.

Blogger hello.hello. said ... (4:29 AM) :

his shoes are perfect, his cardi is amazing and he is beautiful

Blogger Petulia said ... (6:26 AM) :

Very Italian. Romans love wearing their desert boot Clark's with sleek army trousers. I like it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:04 AM) :

this pic made my day here in cold and snowy sweden. i dream of new york city where people like him on the photo live.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:17 AM) :

i really like the background, it ties in really well w/ the outfit.

oh, and btw...i LOVE ur website!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:41 AM) :

Not feeling the short pants or the big shoes, but he is working it fromt he waist up.

Blogger Anthony-Masterson said ... (8:51 AM) :

It's the shoes. I love the shoes.

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:21 AM) :

This looks great

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:00 AM) :

The picture is great, it's so full of light and warmth! He makes a cool figure in the middle of it all also looking warm. He's handsome too, so that's a plus!

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:09 PM) :

I just saw that sweater on eluxury yesterday. It might even be on sale.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:13 PM) :

"In my opinion, this look came straight out of a magazine or store catalog."

You got me-- I had no idea he was dressed from head-to-toe in Phillip Lim. Not being a fan of said designer, my first impression of the individual was his look was part vintage, part army surplus mixed with some elements of luxury and formality.

I still think he looks great.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:29 PM) :

Oh, he's fab! He's the store manager at 3.1 Phillip Lim and really a lovely person: I'm not surprised he looks so dapper!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:51 PM) :

Is he expecting a flood? I know about global warming but I thought manhattan still had a few years left...

Blogger Unknown said ... (6:13 PM) :

I actually really like the rinse of that jean. Not too keen on the pockets but they work...because of the rinse. : )

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:31 AM) :

not bad, I mean its not THE greaaaaaatest style but I have to say i really like the pants and sunglasses... also I live in New York and its freeeeeeeeeeeeeeezing right now, how does he manage to put on these close in the end of november! where are the parkas and other coats plz, its getting cold dear satorialist and we want to see what the fashionable people ( the ones that are afraid of the cold) will be wearing!!!!

Blogger Eff Dee Aytche said ... (2:52 AM) :

simply perfect

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:31 PM) :

His shoes look like desert boots.

Blogger Diamond Dallas Rage said ... (6:22 PM) :

His style is screaming that he is a confident man who knows what he want's and how to get it!!!!
Love how the glasses go with the pants...

(reminds me of John Legend!?)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:26 PM) :

he always look good, head to toe, whatever we wears. great photography helps too, beautiful photo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:14 PM) :

very atmospheric shot - background, light&shadow, pose of the model. Superb. I think ive seen a similar sweater/cardigan at Brooks Bros.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:34 PM) :

siccck shoes

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:23 PM) :

I just hate that hair cut, but those pants are interesting, not so ugly, not so nice.
