Love the collar and the last button undone...

Blogger MONI said ... (10:58 AM) :

he looks like ryan gosling but the best part are his vintage looking moccasins!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:00 AM) :

I love this look

Blogger Manja said ... (11:03 AM) :

Technically, his outfit is not that special...a tweed coat, a pair of jeans and loafers...BUT he is wearing it with an attitude and this guy has charisma...and the aviators make it so much more special! That makes the difference! I really like it. And the beard looks so good on him! (If you read this, please don't ever shave it off :D)

Blogger cami falcão said ... (11:20 AM) :

this poor handsome man might be freezing without socks....

Blogger jrunner02 said ... (11:30 AM) :

Love the coat and aviators! Think this outfit would be perfect if the shoes were penny loafers and not the kind with tassels. Nice shot, as usual, though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:36 AM) :

That kinda looks like Ryan Gosling :D
Love his shades!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:41 AM) :

Like his sunglasses:)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:14 PM) :

Understatement. Classy.

Blogger About Me said ... (12:19 PM) :

jake gylleanhaal, is that you?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:45 PM) :

jack the ripper !!!!!!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:48 PM) :

Everything would be very nice, but a tweed coat with no socks is absolutely wrong.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:13 PM) :

oh, i have a coat just like that one! also very much like the shoes... he looks like ryan goslin, doesn't he?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:23 PM) :

looks so much like Ryan Gosling!

Blogger trip said ... (1:26 PM) :

Awesome.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:35 PM) :

smooth

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:37 PM) :

Just as I was thinking " wow great looking, well put together and above all practical" ... I scrolled down to see no socks. Ah well, fashion has its demands.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:46 PM) :

His coat and his shades are cool.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:55 PM) :

no socks in NYC? that's like groundhog day! SPRING IS COMING!!!! ...or that guy is just craxy. He looks good.

she looks good too. her outfit feels like an 80 Banana Republic something you know before they went all suits and ties

Blogger Julicious Fashionicious said ... (1:57 PM) :

Funny glasses. His look is perfect but at the same time little bit slipshod.Great coat.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:43 PM) :

this guy has classic style. i love the glasses. i also love his resemblance to ryan gosling.

Blogger Adam Sinding said ... (3:10 PM) :

Do you know his name? i think I know him.
a.s.

Blogger Deafkid said ... (3:15 PM) :

Too cool...
The type of guy who plays off style without anybody noticing
(except you, Mr. Sart).

Blogger greenjeans said ... (3:37 PM) :

nice. I'd hang out with him.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:38 PM) :

The coat, the shades - I love the whole outfit

Blogger pepastyling said ... (4:16 PM) :

Everything is fine but those shoes with no socks..not so sure.

Blogger Mondale said ... (4:20 PM) :

Bottom button undone, good.

Blogger Nat said ... (4:28 PM) :

This guy looks great, very cool, but are those yellow socks?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:05 PM) :

so effortless, so cool

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:40 PM) :

sockless still! nice.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:53 PM) :

My favorite part is the sunglasses. Very cool.

I go sockless unless I'm wearing a suit or at the gym. Loafers keep your feel plenty warm in the winter. I had a friend in college who used to say "if you wear socks, you obviously don't spend enough time in the Hamptons."

Good find Sart! Good outfit Random Guy on the Street!

Blogger Emma said ... (5:57 PM) :

Hmm, not so sure about this one. The thought of loafers without socks has always made me feel slightly nauseous...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:19 PM) :

He looks so much like Stefano Pilati, YSL Creative director. Great photo! :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:49 PM) :

i am completely in love.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:49 PM) :

Coollllllllll!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:58 PM) :

lemme guess... u caught him going to/coming from the ralph lauren show? i say that because if i'm not mistaking, that's the polo reversable tweed trench coat that i loved this season, the classic polo sunglasses with the shooting glasses aesthetic(this was the tipoff, i've owned 3 pair) and the shoes COULD be rl also- though they look like aldens. if that's the coat i think it is, it looks even more amazing in action than it looked in the store...

Blogger UESman said ... (9:26 PM) :

love the tassel loafers with jeans...and the yellow socks. Great choices and that coat looks DAMN comfortable.

in other news:

Its images like these that make me wish the picture size was larger. I mean, I can look at the coat and identify it as tweed, but I can't see detailed enough to make out the exact KIND of pattern (do you know what I mean?).....anyway, just a thought.

Blogger stephanie-sarah said ... (9:40 PM) :

i know everyone loves the coat but im actually really liking his shoes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:06 PM) :

He is all the more charming against a background that includes a small herd of black coats - such a clever shot!!!

Blogger Ashley said ... (11:01 PM) :

Love the tweed and the color of it. Love the dark wash jeans with the color of the jacket as well. But he should un-"POP" his color. I hate to sound cliche, but that was so a couple years ago. Never should have been a trend. XOXO

Blogger the last noel said ... (1:20 AM) :

Ah, Tweed. I wish we could wear more clothes like this in Los Angeles.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:41 AM) :

Loafers no socks, thumbs up!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:35 AM) :

I love the jacket, and more importantly, how he's wearing it; that 'popped' collar could have been so wrong, and yet he pulls it off effortlessly!

Blogger gasireu said ... (8:50 AM) :

What is it with the sandals and the no-socks trend in NY? It's winter, it's cold, oh my, why are they doing it to themselves? :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:53 AM) :

He looks a bit like David Tennant.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:55 AM) :

I think he's wearing yellow socks! and even if he's sockless - the outfit is really nice!

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (9:51 AM) :

He kinda looks like Joaquin Phoenix...

His hair is interesting!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:19 AM) :

He has a sort of cool free Redford/Three Days of the Condor feel about his look. He should have a newspaper shoved under his arm while munching on an apple or something--authentically laid back. No socks is a wake up call to nonconformity.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:21 AM) :

I hope his feet aren't too cold!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:45 PM) :

no socks? that seems more polo summer. he looks good, but his hair is weird.

Blogger unexpected pleasures said ... (2:10 PM) :

I think he might be wearing socks and I think they might be yellow.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:13 PM) :

I bought a coat just like that for my husband years ago in a resale shop... wish he still had it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:32 PM) :

Simple. Like it.

Blogger Unknown said ... (3:31 PM) :

That man has style. I like the no shoe look.

Blogger Preppy Cool said ... (3:42 PM) :

Very, cool, understated look. Needless to say, i love the tweed coat, and the classic loafers, and i would venture to say that those are yellow socks. I don't think he's sockless... But it's the shades and the attitude that makes this shot so cool

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:48 PM) :

Socks and hosiery of all kinds (except women's tights) have gone out of style. I love this man's look, but it's time to bring back socks.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:31 PM) :

What a cutie!

Blogger James Jean said ... (6:46 PM) :

Gasireu @ 8.50

Your idea of cold might not be the same to everyone else and it might have been a little warmer than normal that day but I digress....I like this casual look. It isn't anything that jumps out at you but it still works nontheless

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:53 PM) :

i'm not so sure about this...it would be better, i think, if the coat hung a little more lightly. as it is he looks like he's got a parka underneath - it's all puffy.

Blogger Jules said ... (12:45 AM) :

I love this pic!
He look so strong on that coat...=)
Soooo smart look..
Nice post,anyway.
Hope to see you on my blog too...=D

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:42 AM) :

Stefano Pilati, almost casual attitude.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:07 AM) :

I love the fact that it's obviously cold enough for that goregous tweed coat but the guy has resolutely stuck to wearing his loafers with no socks - definitely a case of style over warmth!

Blogger Hector said ... (5:46 AM) :

Oh, I want a beard so badly...

Blogger joe said ... (6:16 AM) :

nice jacket.. ;)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:18 AM) :

I was inspired, and am barefoot in my loafers today.

Blogger classy lady said ... (9:40 AM) :

classic. Although I agree that he should be wearing socks :) It's to cold for none at this time! Love the colar for the coat.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:42 AM) :

nice! ten points.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:34 AM) :

Bravo John!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:00 AM) :

...it's all about the demi-turn and length of jean.
and re. comments that it's just a plain this, and an old that - less is more my dears.

Blogger CW said ... (12:47 PM) :

Very assistant-professorial.

Blogger Chrissy Johnson said ... (12:48 PM) :

The hair, beard, and sunglasses knock this one off the charts. You can tell everything is quality but not showy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:54 PM) :

That boy is gorgeous!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:07 PM) :

sorry coat too short for the style thrift shop choice not always best says smart dresser

those are yellow sox, obviously, and a good choice

Blogger Michael Joseph Owens said ... (1:11 PM) :

This is what the seemingly unhinged Joaquin Phoenix could look like if he'd attempt even the slightest bit of grooming—exquisite incognito.

Blogger Matt Bonham said ... (1:38 PM) :

Love the coat, beard and aviators. Definitely a bold yet sensitive look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:30 PM) :

looks like the guy from vampire weekend.
the robert redford/3 days of the condor look is always a classic.

Blogger Lauren Marie Rouse said ... (2:52 PM) :

how Joaquin Phoenix SHOULD look

Blogger Luis Silva Reis said ... (5:08 PM) :

Love that shade of brown, the last button undone and raised collar, but the jeans should be a little less "scruffy" at the bottom. Good tassel loafers are a nice option, but mink suede 'savile' handgrade shoes by Crockett & Jones would have been much nicer. I kinda like the yellow socks, though... I presume he's wearing socks...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:17 PM) :

FACT: HE IS WEARING YELLOW SOCKS

DEBATE OVER

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:19 PM) :

That is John Fiske...a concept designer for Ralph Lauren. Such a cool guy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:01 PM) :

Is it me or does the NY scene look like they're all trying too hard? great jacket, dig the beard, but why the shades on a gray day and why no socks in winter?

Blogger David Y. said ... (11:53 PM) :

that is the RL reversible, i own that jacket, and have for two seasons now. i know this guy, will keep him anonymous.....but it's not RG.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:53 AM) :

Is he wearing colored socks ...or has he been colored in by Matt Groening?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:02 PM) :

Looks like Spike Jonze

Nice look but I don't dig the jeans those look like faux creases on the pant leg. He's wearing yellow socks with the loafers......I prefer sans tassels myself.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:00 PM) :

If this man looked any different, this outfit might not have worked so well!

The brown head of hair, the facial hair, and the aviators top it off.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:14 AM) :

BABE!!!!!

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:25 PM) :

Wonderful outfit pieces. When you can carry off your look with a scowl and a sneer of cold detachment, then you are really fashionably bulletproof.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:37 PM) :

yes please.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:29 PM) :

JF, love the look. Yes, yellow socks!
From DBQ

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:09 PM) :

steezed!

Anonymous Fair said ... (7:03 PM) :

That's a really, really, REALLY nice coat. I want to get it for my boyfriend!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:27 PM) :

THE SHOES!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:59 PM) :

I had a coat like that in the early 80's. It was the first topcoat I ever bought and it was from Triplers on Madison Avenue. Tweed with reversable gabardine. Never wore the gab side.
