very very very cute and laid-back... but beige sandals with white socks? ewww.

Blogger 50two said ... (9:10 AM) :

i don't get it. i live in sydney and i hardly EVER see people who dress like this.

Blogger mybeautyaffair said ... (9:13 AM) :

great blue jacket she wore.
Prefect photo :))

Blogger Pascal Grob said ... (9:13 AM) :

beautiful. love those shades of blue and perfectly combined with those nude coloured shoes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:18 AM) :

I think she has great hair and a lovely expression on her face. The shoes are fine with me, but the socks are..not good^^just my opinion!

Anonymous Lauren said ... (9:21 AM) :

She is so beautiful! I really love her hair!

Blogger JULES said ... (9:24 AM) :

lovely tres tres chic. love the socks with the shoe

great shot!

Anonymous GYL said ... (9:26 AM) :

Love it from the ankles up. Unless she has just had ingrown toenails removed there is no excuse for doing that to your feet.

Anonymous Lori said ... (9:31 AM) :

She looks young and very lovely. I love the way her head is tilted.

Blogger Hanna Persson said ... (9:32 AM) :

absolutly adorable!

Blogger A Sensible Man said ... (9:34 AM) :

why is it that i can't find cute, well dressed girls like this in sydney!?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:34 AM) :

she is a beautiful girl and i love the colors and proportions of everything. however, the sandal and sock combination... not so sure about. i think maybe if the socks and the sandals were of a darker hue, it would complement the rest of her look.

i also love that she is petite and not absurdly thin and model-like. i have similar proportions and its nice to see what would/would not work. sart, please feature more petite/curvy fashionistas!

Blogger DISCOFUNBATH said ... (9:35 AM) :

O man, so cute! It almost looks like a uniform or something... Love it.

Blogger Alexandra said ... (9:39 AM) :

She's so pretty! I love her hair!

Blogger manandboys said ... (9:41 AM) :

Lovely!

Anonymous Amelia said ... (9:48 AM) :

Its okay from about the knee up but she looks like every other private school girl around town. Love the colour of the jacket though. Shoes...not so much.

Blogger andrew said ... (9:48 AM) :

What a way to start a morning! I love this, the shies and socks are both neutral and shes got em rolled down to finish the quirk off... i like it here.

One would call this love at first sight and i am on the next plane to sydney

thanks Scott!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:51 AM) :

Sigh. I know socks and sandals are cool according to some designers but they really don't do it for me... oh well, at least they're not knee highs. However, it's good to see a petite girl who doesn't feel like she has to wear ankle-breaking heels to create a cute outfit. And the hair, it goes without saying, is fab.

Anonymous Alex said ... (10:12 AM) :

It's funny, yesterday you posted this androgyn chic and my verdict was like it is just provincial.

Here we have the opposite: you can put this young woman in every setting and time and it simply looks adorable and effortless. She could also be on horseback and still look like the woman of fashion. The colours are well-matched - this is no monotony, which one could think at a first appearance, it's more gentle'n playful. However, Im not sure what to think of the shoes and socks, but I guess, this is really a lovely solution - it's prankish, kind of pally, but still worn by the one, you're secretly in love with.

Anonymous i always said ... (10:13 AM) :

her number please, come on Sart!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:14 AM) :

I like how the young residents of Sydney seem to have their quirk on. Good--though not outrageous--expressions of individuality, as in this girl's sock/shoe combo with what looks like a school uniform.

Blogger Hemaly said ... (10:19 AM) :

I love how muted the colors are. Just adorable on her.

Blogger Theo said ... (10:28 AM) :

hah! nadia! brisbane reppin it. one of the nicest people i know, for anyone's info

Blogger Carolina said ... (10:29 AM) :

It does look like a uniform! I used to roll my socks like that too back in 2nd grade.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:34 AM) :

i live in perth, i visit sydney and melbourne but i don't often spot these stylish people. you have a good eye!

Blogger cindy said ... (10:40 AM) :

I used roll down my socks in elem. I still think about doing it once in awhile just "for fun"... but feel dorky. looks cute on her tho!

Blogger Style Gazing said ... (10:42 AM) :

what's with the socks?

Anonymous Dotti said ... (11:06 AM) :

She is a gorgeous girl and I LOVE her hairstyle but she truly looks like has rolled off the North Shore train line on her way to one of the myriad of wanky private schools littering Sydney. Wanna be Gossip Girl.

Anonymous Patrice said ... (11:26 AM) :

Nadia is adorable...good to see Brisbane fashion taking over Sydney.

the sandal and sock combo really gives this look a unique edge.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:27 AM) :

Really, Sart...?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:32 AM) :

...meh. thinking that the blues clash and the socks and shoes, although interesting, are more granny than girl about town.

she wore them again today with a colourful floral skirt and the look was a lot cuter. this just looks wrong, like... well, my old school uniform.

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:54 AM) :

She's gorgeous, LOVE the hair!! I want those beachy/seaside waves on my hair too! I think the shoes and socks are a cheeky and playful statement, and those legs! But... is it just me? or the colour on the legs doesn't match the one on the collar or face...?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:00 PM) :

shoes and socks are great!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:01 PM) :

shoes and socks are really great!!!

Blogger Joanna Lee said ... (12:22 PM) :

She's adorable, making everything she's wearing adorable!

Blogger miss sophie said ... (12:33 PM) :

she's so cute! i certainly didn't have that sense of style when i was her age, if i'm guessing her age correctly :)

her socks with sandals combo is risky, but she looks so comfortable that i'd say it works for her. it almost looks like an ankle bootie the way she styled it.

Blogger Brian said ... (12:39 PM) :

cute from the shoulders up

Blogger Maya Pinsky said ... (12:41 PM) :

Is it birkenstocks with socks??

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:51 PM) :

She is absurdly cute. Her hair is adorable. I think the socks are odd but a really great touch to make this outfit slightly off-beat.

I think she's one of the cutest yet, frankly. And I completely agree w/ a previous comment: I appreciate a shorter figure...

Anonymous princess glee said ... (12:57 PM) :

So...?

Blogger Honeygo Beasley said ... (12:58 PM) :

Thumbs up for rolled down socks! How to make a pair of knee highs into ankle socks on the Q-T!

Blogger Jazzbuff630 said ... (1:11 PM) :

A real cutie pie, but socks with sandals?

Blogger B3PA said ... (1:21 PM) :

can't look at those socks..

Anonymous Jonnie said ... (1:22 PM) :

NADIA!! Rocking the scene...
(went to high school with this girl)

Anonymous gd said ... (1:44 PM) :

nice style. The blue blazer is adorable.

www.gd-dujour.blogspot.com

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:47 PM) :

Somebody used the term "fashionista" to describe her. So absurdly out of place from my perspective (but maybe it's because I just hate that overused term).

Blogger Annie said ... (2:31 PM) :

love the look except the shoes + socks , uh !

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:35 PM) :

She is so beauty, I love her,I'm in love.... I must to go to Sidney.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:36 PM) :

perfect from the neck up. She is adorable in spite of her clothes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:41 PM) :

The socks with the sandals are really bad. Reminds me of my late grandmother who wore nylons with her house shoes, rolled down just like this, and a house dress. ICK.

Blogger CW said ... (3:13 PM) :

fresh and cute

Anonymous Clementine said ... (3:15 PM) :

Would look drab on anyone else but here. Socks were wrong.

Anonymous Camelia said ... (3:20 PM) :

dont adore the outfit but love the model. she's so cute and look pret.
(my English sucks).

Anonymous zuccotto said ... (3:22 PM) :

She looks great, including the shoes and socks.

I'm often surprised by the narrow acceptance span commenters have for choices that they wouldn't make themselves.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:27 PM) :

She is gorgeous and has incredible hair and her outfit is adorable, but I'm slightly horrified by the weird beige sandal and rolled sock combo. Is that something they do in Sydney? I know my 90 year old grandpa used to...

Blogger aimee said ... (3:35 PM) :

nice male blazer. but blazer too long for her short stature

Blogger Megan said ... (3:38 PM) :

Love the boyfriend blazer look thats going on right now! So accessible and affordable

Blogger Unknown said ... (3:45 PM) :

WOW, could this girl get any cuter? oh i believe im in love, to bad she's in sidney, any1 got her email :D

Damn's shes cute

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:05 PM) :

supercute, and really great to see someone lookin this adorable who isnt supertall/long limbs/modelesque but still mindblowing in her own way: more petit women here, s´il vous plait.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:42 PM) :

looooove it
except for those
white (is it even white?? more like gray..)socks
and the beige sandals..

simple black flats
would've been much nicer

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:53 PM) :

I love the sock/shoe combo!! I doubt it will ever "catch on" in the U.S., but I wish it would. I could totally rock that look, as I am a "sockaholic"!
Enough already with the "Grandpa" comments!!!

Blogger Jackson Wilson said ... (4:59 PM) :

Aussie girls are just too cute.

Blogger amalie said ... (5:14 PM) :

that is cute. so laid back, but really cool.
but drop the socks

Blogger Nathalie & Benita said ... (5:20 PM) :

So simple and fun. I love it.
What's with the socks with sandals trend though... It's slowly creeping up!

Blogger Gina Marie said ... (5:28 PM) :

It's the hair that makes it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:11 PM) :

Sorry I dont like this one.

Blogger Elizabeth Saunders said ... (6:43 PM) :

The socks are cute - the outfit needs that little quirkiness and I think it works well. Sydney-siders have an aversion to sock and sandals that goes way back. Maybe we need to get over that.

Blogger ..... said ... (7:06 PM) :

I don't like the socks but I love her smile and the blazer.

Anonymous desertwind said ... (7:22 PM) :

Such a cutie!

I'm a sock n sandal fan, too.

As long as I've been following this blog, I've never asked: Anyone know what sandals she's wearing? I want them. We're heading into Mojave Summer and I NEED them.

Anonymous Meg said ... (7:58 PM) :

I love her! She's so classy but odd at the same time (socks + sandals?). I really love this photo; one of my favorites.

Blogger Anastasia said ... (8:00 PM) :

she's cute and thats an adorable look but I dont get the socks...that looks odd!

Anonymous Sarah said ... (8:20 PM) :

It's funny to hear all people's comments about sydney private school fashion.. Nadia is a brisbane public school girl.. absolutely stunning and so lovely. you should make the trip up to brisbane sart, we have our fair share of stylish individuals.

Anonymous Andi! said ... (8:41 PM) :

I LOVE NADIAAAA <3 best designer ever!
bris not syd guys! BRISBANE style!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:46 PM) :

beautiful smile!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:12 PM) :

Julie the cruise director from The Love Boat.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:44 PM) :

Really, Sart?

Worst shoes ever, and the proportions aren't so good for her height. I like the top half, but that's about it.

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:24 PM) :

Sandals and socks? I don´t think so.

Blogger LuTaNiA said ... (12:26 AM) :

Blazer seems to be so in trend now isn't it? :))

Why is she wearing socks with open-toe shoes anyway??
She looks like a secretary who'd wear whatever shoes she have with socks because she's been working in a air-conditioned environment for too long time and now just taking a walk and breathing fresh air during lunch. LOL

Anonymous bmac said ... (1:16 AM) :

It's funny how many people can't spell Sydney!!!?? whats wrong with you?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:02 AM) :

I am a bit fond of an open toe shoe with chic socks or hosiery... but this!? Those socks look like a pair that were once white (about 12 years ago), but have since been washed with the colours. They need a good soak in a bucket of bleach and boiling water. And the shoes - they look like medicated orthopedics that you buy from the pharmacy! Credit where it's due though : she does look sweet.

Anonymous mimi said ... (2:32 AM) :

brisbane represent?? its about time!

she's adorable :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:35 AM) :

Daggy.

(Australian for extreme lack of irony in an old fashioned way.)

Poorly executed irony in the socks and sandal department too. Some points clawed back for her hairs.

She looks like a genuinely nice woman, however. Like a lot of Australian women. You can spot them, Sart.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:20 AM) :

Love the pic. Loathe the Style Nazis you attract ...

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (7:25 AM) :

The lenght of her shirt looks like she´s a tiny tiny cute girl.

Blogger Femstar2000 said ... (7:46 AM) :

I love the shorts. My mum would love them more as the cover something haha Have fun at your party =.]

Anonymous emmmilllyy said ... (7:51 AM) :

is it just me or does this look like it's been shot in a park in balmain? orr somewhere in paddington?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:00 AM) :

i love what's she's wearing including the socks and sandals combo; wouldn't wear it myself though. could imagine my eldest daughter wearing that outfit.

Blogger andri said ... (10:00 AM) :

very nice and fresh

Blogger Joy Mars said ... (12:50 PM) :

Everything she's wearing is so old-fashioned; blazer, oxford shirt -- didn't they used to call those culottes? -- but even so she looks hip!

I love that she isn't a model type with ultra-long legs. She looks comfortable and real, and that makes me feel comfortable too.

The rolled-down socks. Now who would have ever known I wouldn't mind those! I guess it's hard to wreck those classic sandals.

Blogger Hek said ... (1:49 PM) :

For me it's all about her pretty face, she could wear whatever and still look lovely:)

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:39 PM) :

The top part of this outfit is fun and playful, but I really don't get what's going on with her shoes. Although she does get props for not being afraid to experiment with her style.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:19 PM) :

clean and fresh!! love it.

Blogger fluttrgrl said ... (4:57 AM) :

It looks like she is on her way home from school. Am I the only one who thinks this looks like a school uniform?

Anonymous syrie said ... (6:37 AM) :

I just discovered your site from my mum. Stunning. I'm addicted.

Anonymous Brett Archibald Bevege said ... (6:52 AM) :

I was lucky enough to have been with Nadia that day and she received a fair share of compliments on my behalf! For what it's worth, I really loved the socks and sandals combo, it was a nice change of pace from the fierce black platforms and boots that are so prevalent at Australian fashion events. Divine!

Anonymous CurveSmart said ... (9:40 AM) :

Up close...blarghhhhh. Much better from a distance, as in your photo Sart.

All those haters who are cussing heel/sandal combo where have you been for two seasons?!

Bravo!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:01 PM) :

love the jacket but that's all, i do not like very much the socks with the sandals like Chloé Sevigny has worn!!

Blogger The Beauty Mum said ... (12:26 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:53 PM) :

Girl is reeaally cute :)
Outfit is really nice too.

But no socks please ! You don't want to look like german tourists in Barcelona when it's July...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:37 PM) :

I say why Not.. if you can pull it off - socks and sandals go for it .. I know I couldnt...Sydney has style.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:20 PM) :

love the tone on tone, where have i seen her before new zealand?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:21 PM) :

That looks like my school uniform, but I think it looks really good.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:15 PM) :

Wow. [insert semi-inappropriate, admirative comment here] I need to move to Oz.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:02 AM) :

i love the socks and shoes together... and she reminds me a little bit of emma watson!

Blogger brightstar said ... (4:00 AM) :

looks like paddo to me, balmainers dont wear sandals and socks, which to me remind of some very daggy middle aged chinese women i encountered in rural chinese towns...but she is original! I would have preferred some white converse or something similar...maybe a espadrille a al 40s?

the blue on blue looks like vintage, but was prob very expensive!!

one needs to be oh so young and sweet to carry of this look and she does so brilliantly!

Blogger Lorraine said ... (6:03 AM) :

Love the sock and sandal combination. She really pulls it off.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:47 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:38 AM) :

Beautiful face but clothes????!!! Sorry not the best!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:16 AM) :

she is really pretty and the contrasting blues look great with the background. light is beautiful too but why her? the shoes are incredibly wrong and the whole outfit is all a bit average. there were so many better dressed people at fashion week??

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:02 AM) :

To anyone who commented that they never notice like dressed people in Sydney - seriously, there are plenty of people if you are aware.
Also she is obviously near the beach somewhere, you can tell by the bush in the background and the sand, so that might explain the sock and sandle ensemble

Anonymous stella said ... (5:17 AM) :

yay for Brisbane!
And what is wrong with private school girls/school uniforms anyway?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:20 AM) :

Socks with sandals on the beach. Are you sure you are not in Germany? or perhaps she is a German tourist.

Blogger Beth Ruby said ... (12:18 PM) :

She is so cute, you must have made her day by taking her picture!
Don't think I will ever see socks and sandals as a good look though...
However apart from that she looks lovely.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:44 PM) :

she makes this work in a way i don't think anyone else could.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:30 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:00 AM) :

aww cute, the rolled down socks are reminiscent of my 90's school days ...in a good way, love that she's petite but she's dressed cleverly for her frame.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:43 AM) :

Woof Woof!

(adjectives aren't adequate with this girl)

Though some posters pooh-pooh her socks & sandals fashion, I think it works quite well. With her face and body she can pull anything off. (no pun intended)

Blogger Unknown said ... (3:46 PM) :

What is the deal with the socks?!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:38 PM) :

Very cute and gutsy... kudos for the socks and sandals

Blogger Jane Varsity said ... (1:55 PM) :

Anonymous Marissa said ... (12:20 AM) :

as a whole the entire look work. she's adorable and can pull it off. alone however, the socks and sandals would likely not work. flats would have been too predictable. cute, but predictable. the socks and sandal add to her quirky adorable look.

Anonymous Ruth said ... (5:55 AM) :

I love this combination of jacket and shirt and even the socks and sandals work!

to reiterate the popular sentiment....

she is cute all over but the sandals with socks thing HAS TO GO!

its a look that my 66 year old father has a tough time pulling off.

Seems like a breezy girl.

She needs go on ahead with them gray socks though. If you're gonna wear open toe footwear, you leave the toes...open!

Socks and sandals. Ew. Just no.

Otherwise she looks like the average schoolgirl.

Nadia, looking good! in answer to a previous question, the reason why you never see people dressed like this in sydney, is because she is from brisbane... sartorialist come to brisbane!

stylish pic!

she's so goodloking. however i hardly believe that she was already dressed like that. she probably had her make up and things like that done by the photographers.

I'm going to claim this as Brisbane style!

Im really not fund of the scandals and socks. But The overal clothing of the outfit is something i would wear on a day out, very formal and laid back.

i think its just her natural beauty and a sweet spine-bending which brought her here. she could wear everything i guess.
