Blogger Randy Wylde said ... (8:00 AM) :

I love this look for guys my age. Not wild about the brass, but everything else is lovely.

Blogger Brigadeiro said ... (8:03 AM) :

Love the top & blazer, but the pants look too short, proportion-wise with the blazer...beautiful shot though (barr the cigarette :))
xx

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:19 AM) :

Super! Love the slightly cropped pants, the sneakers with no socks, the stripes, the DB jacket (with brass buttons, no less!), worn casually. At a first glance a simple look, taken to the next level by these simple details! Genius!

Blogger rear window said ... (8:19 AM) :

Have fun in florence. good to have you back.
hope to see you around.

Blogger Miiicha said ... (8:24 AM) :

after long time, pretty good photo! Although vintage clothes is cool, this is better!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:44 AM) :

Love the Picasso look, so hep.
I wonder where he is off to with such purpose?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:51 AM) :

SAILOR.

Anonymous Conor_P said ... (8:52 AM) :

Yep - that totally works for him

Blogger Rico said ... (9:00 AM) :

Love how the double-breasted jacket is worn here and how it unifies what would otherwise be an unremarkable casual look. I watched "Purple Noon" last night and this look is straight out of the film.

Anonymous aligale said ... (9:13 AM) :

casual but elegant

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:13 AM) :

This is what summer is all about..love the classic nautical look with collarless blazer..perfection!

Anonymous duncan said ... (9:19 AM) :

I like to do this but my feet always end up smelling.
Is that a cigarette it looks like one of those fake one's that help you to quit? maybe its a pen come to think of it!

Blogger Mr Brown said ... (9:26 AM) :

...double breasted blazers are brilliant, easily messed up but when done properly they're killer.

for that reason they're a brave purchase, but one worth making to force your hand.

Blogger Jazzbuff630 said ... (9:30 AM) :

Great style. Like Popeye shopped at Berdorf's. Ark ark ark ark (Popeye laugh).

I want that blazer.

Blogger Mark P-H said ... (9:33 AM) :

i think the jacket and pants work well together in terms of length--the jacket looks intentionally short to me--he's tilted forward and the front left quarter is still just reaching the traditional length for a blazer... were the jacket any shorter it would probably result in splitting of vents over his rear end

Anonymous AnnaMudrenko said ... (9:36 AM) :

I lovvee simple cropped pants on men! :)

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (9:43 AM) :

Oh my! He looks good with this cool jacket.
I still have to visit this place!

Blogger Gwen said ... (9:44 AM) :

Does have a nautical look, like how he's paired the jacket with the sneakers.

Anonymous Vanina said ... (9:55 AM) :

Love this picture... a bit of a picasso touch here... I personally love to watch people around me, on the street, the way they dress, the way they move, so I really enjoy your blog. You don't just take pictures of people on the street, you capture their ways, their persona and their inner self too, in your pictures (I hope I am kind of clear here, English is not my mother tongue).

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:02 AM) :

The updated Popeye, the sailor man. Timeless outfit.

Blogger The Voguette said ... (10:05 AM) :

love the jacket and the cropped pants, they look great together - so perfectly summery

Blogger ana said ... (10:57 AM) :

He looks so stylish

Blogger Ashley said ... (11:23 AM) :

He looks so good! Love the nautical stripes and the navy blazer. The length of the pant is perfect, too..and I really like that he's wearing the chucks with no socks..although it could yield smelly feet.

Blogger k_west said ... (11:28 AM) :

reminds me of Hunter S. thompson...good confident, casual look

Anonymous Amy said ... (11:41 AM) :

You sure that's not Venice? Where's the gondola?!

Blogger Lou said ... (11:52 AM) :

I don't know why, but he's all Henry Miller to me. Maybe it's because I'm in my Anais Nin phase. He's irresistible, that's for sure. I just imagine that cigarette hanging from the corner of his mouth is a ballpoint. He's cool like that.

Anonymous AnonymousJK said ... (11:56 AM) :

Man stripe or man candy? I'll take the latter thank you!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:13 PM) :

Great outfit - perfect use of colour for the summer months. Just goes to show the benefits of keeping it simple!

Anonymous Sophie, the Barton Girl said ... (12:15 PM) :

Love dressy blazers worn over casual clothing - for both boys and girls, actually.

Blogger Soren Lorensen said ... (12:18 PM) :

mmmmm okay

i think it needs something to lift it a little - a red neckerchief perhaps, something like that.

and when did people stop wearing socks? red socks, perhaps.

Blogger VQ said ... (12:31 PM) :

sailor top is a perpetual hit

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:53 PM) :

I normally think that a t-shirt with a jacket ALWAYS looks awful. But I think this works, because the neck of the t-shirt is so high. I believe the rule should be that the collar of the jacket should not touch the skin --that is, the shirt should always be between the jacket and skin. But certainly I'm no expert!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:57 PM) :

handsome meet mansome.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:58 PM) :

by chance will you be able to show us what's going on in London or in any of Africa's major cities?

Blogger men'sfashionblogger said ... (3:59 PM) :

i can't tell if this chap is tres a la mode, or wears this stuff every year - either way, i love it. amazing look. http://fsn.typepad.com/blog/

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:05 PM) :

i love the shadow of suede that his hair is. it's so very strong when a man who has a receding hairline cuts all of his hair short rather than the cover-up. I am certain that it may be a difficult thing to see your hair leaving. as a woman it is exciting to see a man embrace the situation and run with it. i think because the choice to suede one's hair eliminates the internal conversation some might have about "does he know he's losing his hair or does he realize we can see past the comb-over?"

Anonymous BrianL said ... (4:09 PM) :

what a simple, yet amazing composition. Everything flows, and looks totaly stylish without trying hard in the least. Love the brass buttons. But what's that white thing in his mouth?

Blogger Angeles Almuna said ... (4:31 PM) :

That guy looks great!

Blogger MM said ... (1:54 AM) :

even though I just wore something similar yesterday, I'm beginning to really get bored of just a plain striped t-shirt and a blazer , i was a tad hesitant to wear it , so i teamed it up with a cool belt. but i've been seeing it too much lately ,
you must have 6 people wearing that here.

Those tan cotton pants are fantastic, the colour makes blues pop and they aren't the dreaded chinos. I'd love to find some for my husband - anyone advise?

the two trends standing out to me this summer: sailor tops and madras.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:11 AM) :

Most men I see around here aren't dressed to look good anymore. Merely walking statements! Anyone can make a statement but that doesn't necessarily make one look good.
