On the Street....Milan Now, Milan

The Best of Milan- quality, elegance, maturity, and refinement.
On a street blinged-out on Cavalli and Dolce this super subtle look carried more strength and dignity than any other.

Gray is such a beautiful color that makes everyone look classic. And of course a Bottega does not hurt, they are so much nicer than the Chanels you see these days. Subtle but beautiful.

That skirt has the perfect length!

Blogger Joy Mars said ... (2:56 PM) :

A bit too suburban for me -- and this in an major Italina town yet!

But on the other hand, the 50's allusion is kinda sweet.

If she wanted to model the bag, she's successful. It really sticks out. I'm thinking it's Bottega Veneta. A nice one.

Blogger Thomas said ... (2:58 PM) :

perfectly feminine.

Anonymous AnonymousJK said ... (3:02 PM) :

L-O-V-E-L-Y!

Blogger elegancemaison said ... (3:10 PM) :

Elegant, elegant, elegant. As another person commented: very Grace Kelly. The design and colour of the structured green bag reinforces the 1950s look of the classic grey outfit while lifting the whole from bland to beautiful. I love this look.

Anonymous Kiran said ... (3:12 PM) :

Sheer perfection :) Grey is no longer "dull" ;) I love the shoes and handbag. Milaner's rock the fashion world!

Blogger ingefaer said ... (3:13 PM) :

I am all for simplicity, but in this case it needs a little someting.....maybe a scarf. Still lovely in a cool Hitchcock-blonde way.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:18 PM) :

Absolutely lovely. I love the way she carries herself too.

Blogger teresa said ... (3:23 PM) :

I love her look. She must feel so comfortable. Love the little peek of color on the sole of her shoe and I love the green bag. I wish they were colors which complemented each other a little better though. A subdued red bag would be stunning.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:25 PM) :

LOVE the hair! and the perfect green bag, makes me green with envy. lol

Blogger Mimi said ... (5:33 PM) :

I'm going to say that I feel the top looks a little messy. The top is casual enough to be tucked in, adding to the whole refined look without it being too stuffy. But don't get me wrong- I think the look is top notch. She is lovely!

Anonymous christopher said ... (5:47 PM) :

i should love to see her walk a little... i imagine a lovely and light lilt to her step!

Blogger Unknown said ... (6:01 PM) :

My favorite combo: comfort & style. She's effortless and very Grace Kelly!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:05 PM) :

i like grey and gray while this is a very smart look, it lacks umpfh. perhaps a round toed black pump ...something.

Blogger Wanderlusting said ... (6:09 PM) :

To: tcarole said...

But green and red ARE complimentary - opposites on the colour wheel. I think the red sole and green bag work beautifully together and yet don't match, they don't need to. It works wonderfully with the grey too :)

Blogger Bookworm said ... (6:11 PM) :

Oooh, how elegant! Classic.

timeless and classy, very nice!
She looks like royalty! Yeah she reminds me of the Argentinian crown-princes of Holland: Maxima

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:51 PM) :

Just beautiful! Very graceful.

Blogger Well Done said ... (7:04 PM) :

I completely agree with your comment. grey and green-understated and elegant.

Anonymous Grace said ... (7:10 PM) :

I love this look, espcially the subtle addition of colour with the green bag. She reminds me of a young Miuccia Prada.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:23 PM) :

one of the most sophisticated I've seen on your page so far and I've been with you from the beginning. Understated, no logos, simply elegant- like she's about to meet Cary Grant on a steamship.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:39 PM) :

She's very classy and the outfit is indeed simple and beautiful, but the top is a very matronly cut for such an attractive and slim woman. I think she needs a more fitted top and a belt, but I can certainly imagine what a vision she must have been in the context described.

Blogger TheHypeAround... said ... (7:59 PM) :

JUST CLASSY!!!

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:12 PM) :

I've kept watch on you site for quite a while and I agree that she shows the most elegance and sophistication of any of you subjects. My heart is thumping hard...

Blogger Caroline Bingley said ... (9:05 PM) :

I have a gray gunex wool skirt and gray merino wool boat neck sweater that pair similar to this ensemble. something about the subtly slouchy take the fifties lines, in gray, that feels so luxurious. i don't know what it is. any ideas?

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (9:14 PM) :

Oh, hello! She is so elegant!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:30 PM) :

what a beautiful picture. I love the gray with the pop of green. I think heels that are a little lower would be better for the overall look though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:33 PM) :

(My comment is unoriginal, but only because it's true) ... GRACE Kelly ... <3

very graceful...classic elegance...can't beat it...I wish more women dressed like this

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:23 AM) :

your words are very apt

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:40 AM) :

A real eye turner. The whole issue of monotone versus contrasts is a fascinating one. Most of my life I've worn classic clothing but with contrasting "power" ties of one sort and another but I'm starting to appreciate the potential of monotone ties, shirts and suits providing it's done skilfully. Done unskilfully it just looks dull. This lady presents a great example of how simplicity and monotone when done properly can blow you away.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:50 AM) :

what legs! She does not try to bring attention to herself but your attenion is brought by the elegance and by the beautiful legs.
Th smoking, black wearing, trying too hard kids should take a look.

Blogger FEDERICA said ... (9:19 AM) :

not sure about the green purse (the choice of colour, in particular). It takes the effect away somewhat...

Anonymous Sophie, the Barton Girl said ... (5:22 PM) :

Phew... That's a welcome respite from London's stylistics aberrations!

Anonymous lady d said ... (6:23 PM) :

people, this is boring. it is what carine roitfeld means when she says italians just do the prada look all the time. no risk at all.

Blogger CW said ... (6:51 PM) :

Beautiful. I cannot decide about which actress her outfit reminds me most. Bacall, Kelly or Audrey Hepburn???

Anonymous P.C.L. said ... (7:48 PM) :

This is so Prada!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:10 PM) :

One of my all time faves from you. I want everything she is wearing.

Anonymous margo said ... (11:57 PM) :

to lady d: but it's so EASY to do risky. the hard thing is what she has done: worn elegant clothing while being sexy and a little unexpected (green bag, rather tall heels) and a totally gracious, sunny manner. that is something you cannot fake. She looks GREAT.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:31 AM) :

THAT is a spectacular look. she accomplishes what few are ever able to accomplish, that is: grave and style in a way that appears effortless and livable. It looks so elegant and class in an individualistic way that reminds me of the simplicity of early Chanel. and the monochromatic look makes it that much better with just enough of the green to make you want to come back for a second glance.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:11 AM) :

Simple, Elegant and Lovely!!

The shoes are probably Louboutin's Very Penny.

Anonymous CLF said ... (3:06 AM) :

Bordering on dowdy. If this look were in the Banana Republic catalogue, would it get so much praise?

Anonymous Vienna said ... (3:08 AM) :

hm, i find it too petty bourgeoise....not my cup of tea

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:33 AM) :

Well said.

Blogger robert said ... (4:09 PM) :

very old money...buy a few quality pieces each season...wear them for a few months and never look at them again. it is true elegance to dress like this

Anonymous Fine Fashionable Sparkling Jewelry said ... (12:34 AM) :

Very Elegant and so comfortable. I love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:54 AM) :

this is what i want to look like

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:26 PM) :

This site captures what people actually wear and that's what is so great about this look - she doesn't look "stylized" but like a woman who gives the appropriate amount of time to her look and then just wears it. Also, for us blonds with fair skin who look washed out in black, grey is the perfect alternative, as she demonstrates. And, her green bag is revelation.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:47 PM) :

Wonderful!!! So chic!

Anonymous Nariya said ... (11:01 PM) :

Gorge! Love her hairstyle, dignified posture and the drape of both pieces. I don't love the bag, but that's all right.

Blogger Michael Limaco said ... (12:32 AM) :

I think although this outfit is simple, the cut of the shirt on the shoulder and neckline and the length of the sleeve make it very elegant, like a shirt from the 40's or 50's.

Blogger carlottalottchen said ... (4:53 PM) :

Gorgeous ... the grey is beautiful and the shoes are a dream.

Anonymous Jessie Necovski said ... (1:42 AM) :

Blogger Hypnarou said ... (6:47 PM) :

beautiful and very elegant!!
the lady , is she the actress Laura Morante ?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:54 AM) :

What a beautiful woman and lovely outfit. She manages the proportions of the top and bottom well. It could have easily been unflattering, but the fit is perfect and the short sleeves and bare slender legs let you see just enough.

The color of the bag is marvelous with the gray, and the shoes are very flattering to her slender ankles. If only more young women had the confidence to leave a bit to the imagination like she does.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:36 PM) :

This is so classy! It's got a slight fifties feel to it- but it totally works on her!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:37 PM) :

Wow she is beautiful! And what a great outfit... I've never liked an all-gray outfit before!
