Open toed shoes with tights? How bold! I didn't know you could wear boots with knee high socks and a skirt like that either. Breaking all the rules!

I have not commented before, I just learned about this site this weekend. I absolutely in awe of your photography! Such wonderful characters you find, with such unique style. It is inspiring.

Blogger Nick Heywood said ... (10:19 AM) :

Geez Louise, those are some privileged bambini. Only in Paris. But they do look rather like they're dressing up in their parent's duds.

Anonymous Jason said ... (10:20 AM) :

Very fun-looking photo!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:20 AM) :

Liking the leftmost boy's look in general, and especially his boots. I've never been a fan of bags like the Louis Vuitton the other boy is holding, neither for men nor for women, but at this point I have to hope he's holding it for one of the girls. If it's his it really ruins his look for me. Also, I quite like the center girl's look, except for the heels. Though I suppose she pulls them off in a way, I've just never found them very comfortable or practical for everyday wear. But they're certainly a happy looking bunch.

Hi! I've been following your blog for quite some time so naturally I just had to get a copy of your book! It arrived last night via mail and I was mezmerised by it for the rest of the night... and it continued today.

The pictures are, if possible, even more incredible in print. I especially enjoyed the man with the drug dealer's suit and the swedish guy with the lab coat. Oh and the colors on p.105 are so beautiful! I'd love to do a painting on that one... In fact I'd love to make illustrations of them all!! I'll link them to you if I ever get around to publishing any :)

Thanks again so much for being such an inspiration!

Blogger Mumei said ... (11:25 AM) :

they look so happy! great pic but i do wonder about children that grow up too fast. all they're missing is blackberries, ciggarettes and personal assistants and they could be on their way to a press conference.

still can't get behind tights/kneehighs/socks with open toed shoes. it's like socks and sandals no matter how nice the shoes are.

Blogger Serg Riva said ... (11:28 AM) :

The ballast of the LV bag, heavy, giving weight. The lift of the ankle boot arced perfectly to extend the line of the leg off into the future... The closed mouth smile on the central man, the open mouth smile on the belted woman. The touching knees of the central woman

if I were to desire to win the America's Cup - I couldn't think of a more powerful way to design my ship, than to have these four as crew.

Ahoy,

Anonymous Edgar C said ... (12:08 PM) :

this has to be a fashion shoot and these kids are models right?

it feels too perfect. too bourgeois.

there's not a hint of teen experimentation and rebelliousness in this pic, n'est-ce pas?

Blogger Queta said ... (12:10 PM) :

wow! they seem characters of Gossip Girl!
Nice shoot!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:10 PM) :

Hope my kids are this happy, even if not this fashionable in their teens... Its just enough trend with classic to work and likely a good mix of high/low. Or just affluent parents, but don't begrudge their opportunities...

Anonymous tootiki said ... (12:12 PM) :

i think your "friends" photos will start a new fashion - a huge trend of choosing the matching outfits together before going out with a friend
Which is funny and creative, i think.

"there's not a hint of teen experimentation and rebelliousness in this pic, n'est-ce pas?"

i wholeheartedly disagree. what i love about this photo is that they are dressed very well but they are able to retain their youthful vigour and carefree ways. the boy on the left with the wristband and funky graphic tee. the girl wearing leggings with her turquoise heels. and the other girl wearing knee-highs with ankle boots. who but the young would dare dress like that? i think it just seems strange to north americans because our kids don't dress nearly as well...heck even the adults here can't put together a coherent outfit quite as nicely and effortlessly. but this is how a lot of the youth dress in paris...my cousins are from paris and yup, this reminded me of them.

Blogger Jordan-na said...

"It's a great pic, but also makes me a bit sad. Do kids get to be kids anymore?"

how are they not being kids? look at that girl with the open-mouthed smile and kicking her left leg up. or the way they're being all snuggly with each other and generally having a great time with their pals. they are playful and happy and smiling...they just happen to dress well compared to north american kids. i bet they are every bit as immature and inexperienced though! (in a good way:))

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:58 PM) :

Living in Paris, teens with a good sense of style is not surprising to me. I have my little sister as an example.

But the heels. That's surprising - and great. It's not vulgar or trashy (like in most cases with teens and their awkward sense of style) and man don't I regret the Addidas period in junior high! ;)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:08 PM) :

Great great photo, these kids look awesome! And it seems that they are not really kids, more like young men and women. capt.charly is 21, his profile says, and he says he is the kid on the left. capt.charly - you and your friends are stylish people.

girl on the right is brilliant. i couldn't love more! thx for capturing so much beauty and inspiring appreciation of art in your photography. i'm addicted!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:20 PM) :

I'm intrigued by these black tights and contrasting open toe heels-I only wish I could fully see the rest of her outfit! Both of the girls are adorable, needless to say, and the two fellows may be their best accessories. You are the company you keep!

These children are a nice change-of-pace on this website. They look trilled to be infront of the camera-unike the fashion editors and execs. I've always felt the best asset to any outfit is the persona that comes with it-and of course your smile. These kids hit the nail on the head! Very inspiring : )

Anonymous Elaine said ... (4:25 PM) :

this is so great, i wish teens here dressed that nicely!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:40 PM) :

i love the outfit on the girl on the right, but i just found this shot of her taken in the same outfit, and it just lost all of its luster. i love this pic bc it is young and full of life -- yet the other image is too model-y and uppity for my tastes, not Parisian at all!

Anonymous Edgar C - I couldn't agree more.
I don't see these kids as priviledged or "growing up too fast". They dress differently from American kids yes but they look young and happy and I see absolutely nothing wrong with here.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:56 PM) :

wow!! european kids sure know how to dress right? i think it's in their blood... you would just never see this in the US but hopefully someday

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:21 PM) :

Anonymous kimber said ... (11:01 PM) :

this is the energy conveyed in the photo (to me): you wanted to take a photo of the central girl with the blue shoes. you motioned that her friend (the girl) could also be in the picture. The two guys also take this as an invitation and the three of them rush into the picture as you're about to take the shot. hahaha.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:32 AM) :

Anon 4:40: you are so right. The other photo to me looks too Lolita/hooker-style, whereas here she looks fun and innocent, a girl any mom would be proud of.
It's nice to see kids put thought and care into how they look. Not the baggy T-shirt/jeans uniform. I grew up in the Midwest and now live in France, and I enjoy the way more kids here play with fashion.
Of course, when you have youth, you can make anything look good. The pictures of older people are more interesting style-wise because the individuals aren't model-gorgeous yet look great. That is what we mortals aspire to.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:55 AM) :

Too young for Vuitton logo, I think- it seems matronly, and while I like the blue shoes, the girl in them looks like she's trying on her mother's clothes-perhaps she's not fully comfortable in her skin to pull off such a style, whereas her friend, kicking up her leg in worn boots, looks ready for Teen Vogue or Seventeen. Happy, original, and confident.

This is nothing! I went to Paris this past April and I saw two little girls... maybe around 10-12 years,... and they were little fashionistas ... i clearly remember their lovely thigh high boots ... they just mesmerized me... they didn't look like "mini adults" they looked their age but simply dresses very good :)

and yes... I love love love the girl on left with the knee high tights :)

I'm 16, and I must say no one at my high school has that great of style! I may be the only one that doesn't wear Hollister every day.

I just love the photographs of friends you have been doing a lot lately. I find it more inspiring than pictures of single people, especially when the group is like this, an eclectic group of personal style.

I really wish I was friends with these guys!

I love the shoes of the boy who's holding the LV bag..the are great

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:04 PM) :

So parisian !!!! the LV bag for a guy is a bit too much...but the model is really really young so he can dare everything. Beautiful pic.

Blogger sarah said ... (7:04 PM) :

Does anyone know where I can get the dress the girl on the right is wearing???

Blogger Dhppy said ... (7:14 PM) :

Okay, but when senior citizens wear hose with sandals, no one thinks of them as chic.

Seriously though, what kind of 15 year olds dress like this? Do they go to fashion school? I refuse to believe this is normal Parisian teenage garb.

Blogger D said ... (2:25 AM) :

The ankle boot/knee high thing is rather commonplace in Japan...FYI

Anonymous Kristin said ... (3:19 AM) :

Blogger mickeyd said ... (9:04 PM) :

I hate to be a killjoy because they are so exhuberent and lovely... but the LV Keepall is an imitation (..handles way too long)

A warm moment captured none the less, put it down to youthful naiveté

Lovely picture Scott.

Anonymous Maria Lima said ... (11:01 AM) :

I wanna be their friend too! the coolest ever by Paris...

Blogger Jules, London said ... (2:56 PM) :

I love the fun fashion fusion look especially with the girls footwear/legwear where anything goes. The aqua shoes look so difficult to walk in though. Hope there are some ballerinas in that bag. Could only be in Paris. Lovely photo!

Blogger polaroid-gangster said ... (5:08 PM) :

They look so young, it's nice they have already a sense of style as long as they keep this "freshness"
