Impressive. It is something between I love her and I am afraid of her.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:39 AM) :

such a star

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:40 AM) :

Great to have some connect between the talent and the environment - normally your portraits stand out to me for their clear disconnect between man / nature.

Keep up the good work Scott :)

Seventh Heaven, she is too cool.

Blogger Queta said ... (7:45 AM) :

Anonymous The Photodiarist said ... (8:13 AM) :

What a great shot! I love the look on the guy's face. This is Vogue material.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:13 AM) :

I can only hope that there's a little bit of irony in here somewhere... fashionista/os tend to take themselves a little bit too seriously.

That being said, i LOVE her shoes. it's not too cold in NYC to be wearing peep toes?

Blogger C A said ... (8:14 AM) :

Was that a fashion show in the middle of 7th Av.?!
She looks very italian, and she shows a very strong personality!

Blogger V said ... (8:22 AM) :

She looks fantastic, but it is the photo that blows me away. The movement all around here is electric, perfect.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:26 AM) :

Ha! Total Glamazon. That guy looks SO annoyed he has to walk around her.

Blogger SabinePsynopsis said ... (8:27 AM) :

Love the black outfit with the blue, but not to gold belt. And maybe a bit too much attitude...

Blogger SabinePsynopsis said ... (8:29 AM) :

P.S. Picking up on what V said - Forgot to say: all the movement around her... the picture itself is great!

Anonymous Catherine like Deneuve said ... (8:32 AM) :

She is the very picture of a powerful New York woman, powerful in the sense of being strong and knowing who she is and what she wants. Bravo to her!

Back in the 80s, I had lots of electric blue (including my wedding dress), and a big, gold Wonder Woman belt. In that era, we wore stirrup pants for the skinny-leg look, rather than leggings. Otherwise, I think everything she has on would have been in my closet at that time.

If it was good then and it's good now, I guess it must be classic.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:34 AM) :

Electric Blue...fantastic, the best pic yet.

hilarious photo with the guy looking at her thinking, "why is this chick blocking the road?" while the two on the left side are even more hilarious, one more orange than valentino.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:51 AM) :

the blue lining of her jacket is amazing colour in this photo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:59 AM) :

Mick Jagger's next girlfriend!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:02 AM) :

i really dont like the outfit at all. I think it looks cheap and there is nothing innovative about the look. she looks like shes in from New Jersey for the day with her husband shopping on Canal

Anonymous Carole said ... (10:13 AM) :

Wow. That's truly a great shot. Did you stage it? With that guy's look and the attitude! I love it! One of my favorite of your shots.

Blogger Klever Girl said ... (10:17 AM) :

To me, it was all about the expression of the man standing next to her. THAT in it self, was priceless!

Blogger MOD PAUL said ... (10:37 AM) :

She is working that photo for sure. But the lad on the right and his What The #%@* look on his face is what makes the shot. Yes he "Looks Bothered" HA HA...

Blogger .::Tuttie::. said ... (10:39 AM) :

OUCH! anon. Leave Jersey out of it!

although there is something cheap about her look but I can't figure out what. It is still a stunning picture non the less.

Blogger Singapore Short Stories said ... (10:48 AM) :

wow, stylish!

Blogger Susan said ... (10:51 AM) :

Amazing,simply gorgeous.

That expression on the onlooker's face, priceless.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:59 AM) :

stunning shot!

Blogger the nickel fit said ... (11:05 AM) :

Generally not a fan of poses, but how can you not admire her slight sense of nonchalant hubris?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:10 AM) :

SEXY! It's key to mix some pop colors in with the black.

The best accessory however, is a man on your left giving you and "Eff Off!" look!

http://jeffrey-james-accessories-terrariums.blogspot.com/

Blogger Eric said ... (11:10 AM) :

The expression on the gentleman's face says it all...

Blogger Dream Sequins said ... (11:22 AM) :

The man next to her is giving her the death stare. Not in a good way either. LOL. I like the movement in this photograph, and though I don't necessarily love everything this woman is wearing, she does summarize a very New York working woman look.

Anonymous roadtoabudhabi said ... (11:42 AM) :

I honestly thought this was part of a magazine spread complete with man in beige.
I think you made her day!

Blogger The Clever Pup said ... (11:44 AM) :

Great photo however the outfit is not very innovative. Kind of cheap-looking; trite.

Anonymous Bill said ... (11:46 AM) :

Your photos are usually quite transparent to the subject matter, but here there's a nice tension between what's more interesting, the photo or the phashionista. She has stopped time. Will be one of your classics, I'll bet.

Blogger blank said ... (11:53 AM) :

i love the movement in the picture and then you suddenly have to hold still as you look at her..!! fantastic..

Anonymous Aurore said ... (12:00 PM) :

this shoot is absolutly stunning, the way she looks at you like nothing can be stronger than her, and the way the man is looking at her, just like us thinking like she's right, she's just the stongest !
how can she do that ? we can't even see her eyes, it's just by the body, the hand in the pocket, the foot slighty moved.

congrat's and OMG she's breathtaking.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:05 PM) :

This photo is wonderful! Love the lighting, the composition, the juxtaposition of the "model" among the commuters trying to get around. Love!

Blogger uhuhuhjn said ... (12:11 PM) :

wow i think this is the best shoot so far lol. i love the way the dude is looking at her, i love the background, and i love the impression on her face lol. i think the pics could be used as a front page magazine lol :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:20 PM) :

For some reason, I am not digging this outfit at all. It just doesn't look like the effortless style you usually showcase here. Instead, it looks like any outfit from mall-America to me.

Blogger reagan said ... (12:26 PM) :

i love the contrast between stillness and motion in this photo. her attitude combined with the bustling backdrop makes this so fantastic.

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:26 PM) :

I bet no one can pick out the tourists in this picture. I will give everyone a hint, they are on the side that rhymes with weft.

Anonymous Courtney said ... (12:27 PM) :

She scares me in the most amazing way possible. This is fashion in superhero comic book (when they were good) proportions.

Fierce shot!

Blogger Melissa said ... (12:29 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:38 PM) :

RAZOR SHARP, tailored, determined, edgy, but I like the outfit, sans that gold belt, and for the first time in ages, I like a pair of women's shoes, these are lovely. We have a definition for a woman like this in Beverly Hills ---- the second wife! : )

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:50 PM) :

Epic photo, Scott! I love the guys look who's squeezing past!

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:53 PM) :

I like the photo itself more than the ensemble. I think she is taking herslef a bit too seriously for my taste and something about the big glasses, big bag, big coat combo, or maybe the fact that she looks a lot more like money than fashion. but like i said good shot.

Anonymous Jessica said ... (2:14 PM) :

I personally love the contrast between her too big for life, taking herself too seriously attitude and the people around her, especially the man on her proper left. She may be having her fabulous fashion moment, but life is still going on around her. She is simultaneously connected to and removed from the environment.
Brilliant, brilliant photo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:20 PM) :

Hasn't the man in the tan coat been a subject of at least one of your photos? He looks very familiar. Looks like he is trying to identify who the woman is.

I like the contrast between her strong stance from the knees up and then the turned-out ankle that says "or maybe not".

Anonymous Holly said ... (3:22 PM) :

Perfectly styled...the lining of her coat and stance does it for me!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:24 PM) :

Awesome! I love this picture - the lining on a jacket has seldom made such an impact on an outfit. This woman doesn't give a damn what I think of her - she knows she's freaking phenomenal, and I admire that.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:35 PM) :

HIlarious. Perhaps she's been reading too much Ayn Rand.

Blogger Sophisticated Misfit said ... (3:56 PM) :

Yeah, he's probably thinking: "What does she have that I don't."

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:15 PM) :

She looks like any sense of fashion she has is only as a result of a lot of money. And I don't like that incredibly impractical and awkward way she carries what must be a rather heavy handbag. The belt is beautiful, though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:29 PM) :

this image itself is amazing....FIERCE...as Christian Siriano would say. The man to her left is c-l-e-a-r-l-y annoyed.
but she knows that she is too fabulous to care

Blogger English Rose ♥ said ... (4:29 PM) :

LOVE LOVE LOVE this - her confidence literally jumps out of the screen and style is 99% confidence - you barely even look at what she is wearing!

Anonymous Morgan said ... (4:46 PM) :

Great classic NYC street photography! Love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:58 PM) :

Fantastic picture. She is fierce and really seems stands out amongst all the other people on the street.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:06 PM) :

The composition and attitude of the subject and the man on the side is what makes this picture. However, I find her to be very cheap for some reason. Perhaps it's the overly glam sunglasses and belt. Too many 'bells and whistles.' I feel like she's just another tourist from California looking for some cheap bargains.

good job, mysterious seventh avenue babe.

great job, sartorialist.

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (10:38 PM) :

Great series of pics!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:52 PM) :

I love this for many reasons.
One is the woman herself, powerful, fierce and elegant. Next is the the blue lining of her coat, Amazing!
Secondly is the man walking past, he doesnt seem to understand what is so important about this girl, maybe he never will.
and lastly is the 2 girls on the left in their ripped jeans and skater shoes, they look so blah and unorganized compaired to the center focus

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:01 PM) :

Shawty what your name is..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:59 PM) :

This photo and the two after it, all on seventh avenue, look different. Not just in composition, but something about the image quality. Have you made a technical change, or is it just the light?

They're all great by the way!

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:01 AM) :

cold cold cold..... but chique no less

Anonymous L. Quick said ... (3:46 PM) :

One of your best I've seen! The woman is so dynamic, especially her jacket, that lining is sick. I also love how the background is so much more a part of this shot, like the city didn't stop moving for you.

PS~ You rock my retinas!

Blogger The Daily Connoisseur said ... (4:53 PM) :

Diva! (In a good way) So impressive!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:36 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:12 PM) :

stunning really a power women that girl......... MIND BLOWING

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:57 PM) :

I love the contrast between your subject and the people to the left, our brains bridge the two contrasting sartorial choices and fill in the blank.
The picture seems to ask the viewer...and what about you?

Blogger J. Magdalena said ... (12:04 AM) :

More than the outfit itself, I love this photo. ...though I AM having watch envy...

love the sneak of blue of her coat & the denim in the background

Blogger Lauretha Sudjono said ... (6:04 AM) :

Fierce shot!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:47 AM) :

I'm drawn to the girls on the left. They look EXACTLY the same: brown Uggs or skater shoes, destroyed Abercrombie jeans, navy blue Hollister parkas, and pin-straight hair. But what's most compelling is that they have no idea what's going on in the center of the photograph, both in a literal sense and fashion-wise.

Anonymous Un samedi... said ... (10:50 AM) :

I love hers shoes !

Blogger Dee said ... (9:19 PM) :

I think the belt cheapens the outfit. All in all, a 'meh' outfit. But I love the whole photo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:08 AM) :

There is nothing wrong with ripped jeans. My favorite jeans got ripped and I wear them - I figure that "style" is as valid as any other crazy "style" out there - who makes the rules that it is so "passe"? People fawn over some person in PJ pants and call him so artistic avant garde bla bla bla yet the same people get all worked up on torn jeans? Seems like a small group of snooty people like to decide what style is. I Like the main girl's shoes, but not the clothes and am not a fan of the belts. I think the girls next to her are just as confident and have a very down to earth style

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:50 AM) :

I think she made that coat. It's really unusual.

I'm a little iffy about the belt, but she can carry-off anything.

Style is attitude and she's got lots of that.

Anonymous Zoe said ... (12:12 PM) :

Everyone in this shot has such a strong expression, and the composition and quality of the photograph are so well done the scene seems almost surreal.

So much to take in.

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:12 PM) :

This is a great shot. Even though there is a lot of action going on, she is still the focal point. However, that guy's facial expression is priceless.
