At Rio Fashion....Joana, My New Style Star, Brazil

This is the first moment I saw Joana.

Ok, truth be told, Garance and I ran away from the Winters cold to Rio Fashion Week in Brazil.

It's hot down here....I mean, crazy hot!! However we still met several really cooool girls down here. Just like Eva, or Giovanna, or Anna Della Russo, Joana is one of those girls that I become instantly curious about. Everyday I want to see what she's is wearing.

Being Brazilian, Joana is great at color, accessories, prints and just the right amount of sexiness. She has a superior taste level and an undeiniable charm...basically, she is as nice as she looks.

I have a few more shot of her to share over the next few days. By the time you read this though, I will be flying to Florence for Pitti Uomo. This week will be an interestng mix of High Summer Rio Style and full-on Florence Winter Chic.

ps. I will have a book signing in Florence at Luisa Vis Roma on January 14th at 6:30pm.

I will do another post about this event tomorrow with more details.

Blogger CW said ... (8:53 AM) :

Bag would be really heavy if full and impossible to carry in the crook of her elbow. However, this is a great shot when it comes to showing off the bag. Was this a shoot for the manufacturer?

Beautiful outfit on Joana. However, the hankie-head detracts from her beautiful face (another reason why the shot emphasizes the bag).

Anonymous ZidaMinnesota said ... (8:55 AM) :

I really love the combination of these colours! I was always worried to wear red because I never knew how to wear it.. But now I know. It goes perfectly with the brown!! And the scarf and ring are so cute! And actually I have never seen to have the scarf ended on the top.. but looks amazing!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:07 AM) :

Red + Leather Brown is a wonderful palette!
She has a great sense of style and these colours looks good on her skin tone!

Blogger Rob Boddice said ... (10:10 AM) :

She makes that heavy-looking bag seem rather light, which is either a feat of bag design or a feat of comportment. All style considerations apart, she has wonderful ankles. Time was when a well-turned ankle was enough to make a man swoon, but they are now sorely neglected.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:46 PM) :

Love the look, but not loving the bag, in this context.

It's too big, too boxy, doesn't complement the flow of everything else in the outfit and the atmosphere; she needs something she can swing!

Also, maybe just in the color balance in the photo or on the computer screen, but the color of bag and dress are awful together: the bag looks sort of putty or even greenish or something against the orange/red dress--how much nicer would it be in a dark brown or a pale tan...

learning from the other posts that it's a birkin and an iconic bag, but to hell with it, this stylin' woman doesn't need that kind of armor...!

Blogger Lisa Petrarca said ... (1:01 PM) :

I wish I was brave enough to wear color like that. I always tend to wear basic black & then accessorize with color.

She looks so beautiful & cheery!

It's summer down south of the equator, no? She looks amazing, because she practically embodies summer. That headscarf makes her look like a hot, tan Lucille Ball and I like it. The structured handbag is awesome and that green ring really adds an amazing pop of color to her orange dress. She makes me wanna be where she's at.

Blogger ShaveReview said ... (5:35 PM) :

The dress is FAB. Texture, length, belt, bow, color. ALL RIGHT!! She belongs in the foreground. Note: Check out her hemline compared to the other women in background. Magnifique!

The bag is contrived. Too big, too new, too I saw this in a magazine and have to have it. Proportioned wrong. To me it states, "I can't figure this out, so I'll buy the look."

Sunglasses are OK. Far Better than those or the woman to her immediate right though.

The scarf doesn't work for her. I'm working in a major capital of the world, its hot, I'm hot and I'm wearing a vampy scarf?

Sandals? HOT HOT HOT
She's got the legs, the ankles and the walk. A woman of stature.

Field Notes: What's up with the dude behind her? Check out those ancient kicks, A-wash jeans, and black vest over Tshirt?

She looks great, but I don't really get why she piqued your interest so much. Maybe after you post the other shots I'll understand it better.

She is gorgeous- so well put together. This look speaks volumes about knowing your own style rather than following trends.

She is a vision...a throwback to elegance. Tangerine has never looked so good. Terribly excited about peeking at the other shots you have of Miss Joana.

I have recently fallen in love with a Brazilian shoe label called Carmen Steffens which we are fortunate enough to have in Canberra, Australia.

It's so refreshing to be able to walk in the store and see COLOUR and excitement in quality footwear. This photo reminds me of that concept.
By the way love the ring - a subtle way to bring in an additional colour to the palette and staying tasteful.

I'm lucky to have exactly the same bag, same colour but mine has silver hardware ; I'm so glad you posted this picture...cause it shows me you can mix a very classic bag with funkiness and make it look retro-chic !!
And what a great way to wear that scarf too !

This is the classic look that women around the world should go for...it's a look that alludes to sexiness but not in your face. French women have been notorious for this look but I guess I need to make it over to Rio.
