Anonymous Waheeda said ... (7:17 AM) :

I like! His clothing is recently retro and this makes it harder to pull off. I think he has (pulled it off) through his choice of proportion.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:19 AM) :

I don't know why but I get a little Lanvin vibe from trousers. I don't like the jacket though..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:19 AM) :

COLOURS!!!!!!!!!

Blogger davidikus said ... (7:22 AM) :

I like the subdued colours - I think the trousers are great, unusual but great. They might benefit from being slightly shorter though? Wouldn't this give the outfit a cleaner line?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:03 AM) :

The pants...misguided youth...

Blogger C. Anne said ... (8:07 AM) :

I love the unlikely combination of colours! His sweater & trousers are in such soft almost feminine shades while the jacket in contrast toughens up the whole look. The three tones surprisingly play off each other so well...Perfect sartorial harmony!

Blogger Roman Dennis said ... (8:12 AM) :

i dont know which part of this outfit i love more the jacket, the jumper, the trousers, his hair this look is just amazing and it feels soo simple and not forced i think thats what i like most that it is soo relaxed and easy. i love it!

the clothes look unkempt, deliberately of course (nice twist with the jodhpurs as found in india), but the hair is carefully coiffed, deliberately again of course!!!

Anonymous Scoob said ... (8:44 AM) :

UGH! Not my favorite - esp the pants.

Any one of the items has got to go; I wish that there was one item darker than the rest of the items - something that goes with his hair.

He is looking so stylish! I love the combinations of colors, textures, and accessories. I see a bit of Spring thrown in here, the transition is beginning He is a lovely young man, a model? Should be. Fantastic photography, what a background.

Blogger Jorge from W Palm Beach said ... (9:29 AM) :

Hm. Name one investment piece in this outfit. The bracelet, maybe. I would rather splurge on a piece that will last me until it falls apart. Jorge from WPB

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:29 AM) :

I think the Sartorialist should do an experiment and randomly post photos of folks who are wearing terrible, ill-fitting outfits and see if the typically gushing commenters pick up on the difference.

Oh wait. He's already on to this idea.

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:12 AM) :

I love the combination of colors and textures. I'm a big fan of mixing neutrals. I also love his boots; I've been looking for a similar pair for myself. And I love that his leather jacket is double breasted. But the fit of those trousers is just killing me.

That soft, butter-y jacket ... and those pants! What a style!

Anonymous grizzlesnort said ... (11:22 AM) :

Bracelet over the sweater-great touch. Sock over the pant leg-mighty want to re-think that after you get off the bike. Overall, nice.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:30 AM) :

The pants look silly. He ruined it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:30 AM) :

I really like the color palette of this outfit. Very soft and pleasant. Anyone who can stray from black even slightly gets major points from me.

Anonymous Hugh Highroller said ... (11:32 AM) :

Blogger Nadine2point0 said ... (11:43 AM) :

Way off the mark, in my opinion. The execution tends more towards sloppy than anything else.

Anonymous blackdominoes said ... (1:02 PM) :

He looks like Seinfeld circa 94. NAGL.

He pulls it off being young and handsome, but yeah, I can't cosign on this.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:10 PM) :

He looks like River Phoenix.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:26 PM) :

I don't see the "style" in this look. I hate the pants and the top part of the outfit looks sloppy. I don't know - I just can't find anything fashionable about this. Sorry. Usually, you pick real winners (esp. men), but this just doesn't move me.

Blogger SabinePsynopsis said ... (2:09 PM) :

Love the worn air of the leather jacket and how the brown of the shoes meets the jacket.

Blogger Cobalt Violet said ... (2:18 PM) :

He's very cute but looks like he's doing the walk of shame.

Blogger Charlie said ... (2:43 PM) :

the last few entries have me convinced ~ the 90's are back

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:46 PM) :

yay! those colors are so good together. i'd love to see this look on a woman.

Blogger beths said ... (2:48 PM) :

Although some viewers might be drawn to his unassuming costume, I find the unshapeliness of the clothing really unflattering to him. (I wonder who it might flatter? The bangle over the sweater cuff and his hair both evoke his beauty as does the backdrop of the Paris street.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:53 PM) :

That leather jacket is great and those trousers are wawaweewa!

The best part is that it looks like he's not even trying.

Blogger Chris Rouman said ... (3:02 PM) :

This is absolutely awful in every way imaginable. That fact that nothing fits well is only the beginning. I hate to be the only dissenter for the day, but I can't get on board with this one. I feel it completely misses the mark for decent fashion.

Blogger mar said ... (3:37 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:26 PM) :

First of all, he's absolutely gorgeous! His hair looks great, the expression on his face is priceless and that bracelet must have a whole story of its own. Furthermore, I love how he rolled his leather jacket's sleeves up. Now, what I don't like are the trousers: too much "sloppiness", in my opinion. They're OK as such but not here. Probably a pair of tight (not too tight!) jeans, or something like that, would have rounded it up quite nicely.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:33 PM) :

DEFINITELY include it in the next book ;)

Blogger stephanie_press said ... (5:54 PM) :

Just don't like the proportions. I think the pants are not good with the jacket. I know the slouchy stuff is way back in, but proportion, ya know?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:15 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:00 PM) :

chris rouman and others who don't like this look: sure it misses the mark for decent fashion, but it doesn't miss the mark for decent STYLE. this is HIS style and nobody else's. if everyone had the same aesthetic standard, then why bother even having a website like the sartorialist to explore our diverse takes on style? would he look better in a fitted dark suit? or straight legged jeans with a fitted leather jacket? sure. but it wouldn't be him.

Blogger anthony said ... (1:17 AM) :

Pantaloons look silly. Jersey hangs. Jacket and ankle boots are cool. Is that a Citroen in the background?

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:43 AM) :

Definitely his own style, not my fave but great elements. Shoes and jacket love, he's a modern day 80's preppie ala Blane "Andrew McCarthy" in Pretty in Pink.

Anonymous Scoob said ... (4:01 AM) :

I was one of the ones who didn't prefer this look, however, I do agree with the last Anonymous comment, that it is HIS style and nobody ele's...

In my humble opinion, though, when someone lays claim to having "their own style," there is some sort of consistency, or pattern, to everything they wear, over myriads of items and outfits. For example, an outfit might look random even when it really isn't, and to me, this is the difference between having style, or not..

The point being is that this outfit looks so random that it looked like he climbed out of bed and threw it together, however, I 'think' that I have seen him on this blog before, non? Chances are - this gentleman *does* have hs own style, and there was some forethought in putting it together.

...so, kudos! (even though I don't like the pants).

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:42 AM) :

In short, he looks very much like a Grungey Dashing Dandy!
Love the leather jacket - looks like it could be passed down as an heirloom - buttersoft leather.

Anonymous andeh said ... (5:35 AM) :

I'd love his outfit if he had different pants on.... besides his awful pants, this boy looks great, even though a bit too feminine.
I love the combination between the jacket and the pullover+bracelet...and I love that his shoes match his jacket and the socks match his blouse :)
