On the Street.....Little Leopard, Lotta Yellow, Paris

For me, this shot is all about wearing color in a bland colorless city.

Look how she explodes out of the background griege of it all.

Again I don't really think this is about these specific clothes but about the idea of color in a black and white world.

This is perfect. She is free to be and looks happy and comfortable. Though there's a lot going on, it's as though she's naked.

Blogger Jennifer said ... (7:03 PM) :

Overall she's got style and confidence, but her top makes her look very wide at the waist. Great hair and coat, though!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:20 PM) :

It is definitely more of a costume than merely clothing. I love her coat, bright green bangle, shoes and those divine Balenciaga sunglasses.

Blogger Korver said ... (7:51 PM) :

Not a fan. But I do like her shades and her sense of self.

Anonymous Felicity said ... (7:57 PM) :

I can't make out what that is peeking out beneath her half-top. It looks so strange.

Anonymous Kristiaan. said ... (8:24 PM) :

While I really don't like that leopard print, kudos to her for the confidence she has in wearing such a 'loud' piece of clothing.

Absolutely LOVE L-O-V-E the coat and her accompanying green accessory

Naah, a tad too tacky for my ever so sophisticated seventeen year old taste. Not my cuppa tea, but at least she has her own point of view.

i completely agree. this shot is fantastic !

Blogger fshnvctm said ... (9:37 PM) :

My eye saw the GREEN bangle right off the top! Props to "owning" her look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:09 PM) :

I love the addition of the grass green bangle. It adds an unexpected touch that somehow completes the look.

Daring!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:46 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:13 PM) :

OMG! i have to applaud her for her bravery ^_^

Blogger bird of light said ... (11:16 PM) :

As you have pointed out the great juxtaposition between her colorful, printed outfit, against the "greige" as you so aptly put it - of the city behind, I am also finding endearing the contrast on your blog of current streetwear/photography/fashion, and also the vintage/style/photos..

Loving it!

Anonymous foshoko said ... (11:38 PM) :

hat's off to a woman who will walk down the street wearing so "much" with such confidence, regardless of whether you like it! and all things considered, i've seen that much leopard look a whole lot worse, usually more often than not...

Blogger chula said ... (12:46 AM) :

we should put more color in our grey cities;-)

my god this coat is fantastic, and the bracelet, the glasses...!

The contrast with the background gives us "food for thought"!

Anonymous mary said ... (2:47 AM) :

THOSE SUNGLASSES!!

Blogger AnAzevedo said ... (5:47 AM) :

Lovely glasses, coat and bangle.
The leopard suit is soooooooo ugly... but she wears the ensemble with such confidence that I have to like her... she's fierce!

Anonymous Giovanella said ... (5:55 AM) :

OMG who is this women?! hurra for color and life!!

Blogger Denika said ... (6:03 AM) :

Thank god someone else is wearing colour in Paris! HURRAH BEAUTIFUL COLOURFUL LEOPARDESS! It can be scary wearing colour in such a dark place! It's like going to work naked how many odd disapproving looks you get.

Blogger K said ... (7:43 AM) :

This is the attitude everyone should have to dressing

Anonymous CROATOR.NET said ... (8:23 AM) :

You don't need sun when you have a girl like that on the streets. Love her!

Anonymous AnonymousJK said ... (11:25 AM) :

Even a blind man could see her coming! Definitely not anything I'd ever attempt to wear, but I give her 10 cool points for trying!

Anonymous Elisabeth Adele said ... (12:37 PM) :

i applaud her for stepping outside bland colors and standing out! an effort truly remarkable.

Blogger Roger Mensink said ... (12:59 PM) :

Absolutely right. She certainly makes a splash in grey Paris all right. As if she'd just stepped out of Brussels. I love it!

Blogger Ian said ... (1:29 PM) :

And has noone else noticed the green cardigan with deliciously over-sized buttons peeking from beneath her yellow overcoat???

FABULOUSITY (pardon for using that Kimora Lee-trademarked word - but for lack of a better one!!!) at its best!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:32 PM) :

She looks a little like a young Leslie Caron. What is she wearing around her waist? A very large belt?

Anonymous Daftboy said ... (2:52 PM) :

I love the balance between the green bangle on one arm and then (diagonally down) the green lamppost you can just see under her other arm....I hope that is a lucky coincidence, or you are an even better photographer than I thought!

Blogger Kirsten James Ferguson said ... (6:37 PM) :

she is definitely living life to the fullest. What beautiful colors!

Blogger Anne said ... (7:27 PM) :

I don't really like leopard, but that yellow coat is amazing! I hate it when people wear all black or grey when spring is just arriving, it's like disrespecting the sun for finally returning after those cold months.

Anonymous grizzlesnort said ... (7:44 PM) :

Sol many of your recent pictures of professional fashionistas show people who clearly live in mortal terror of bad taste. MEOW to them. This lady totally out-rocks them all.

Blogger Dusk said ... (11:52 PM) :

"griege"!!!! Oh yes!!
I am 'borrowing' this word to describe the lacklustre malaise that seems to grip our hueman world.
I love this woman's attitude. It really is... I Am Woman. Hear Me Roar!!

love how her green bangle matches the color and angle of the green sign post showing behind her in the photo right under her bag.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:22 AM) :

it is quite lovely how she does indeed 'explode' off the image. nice catch. People are afraid of colour. I think i'm more in awe/give kudo's to people that wear what they want with out excuse.

Blogger Unknown said ... (3:30 AM) :

Not sure I would call Paris bland and colorless, but this photo is da bomb!!!!

Anonymous Amy said ... (3:56 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:48 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:58 PM) :

The yellow coat is wonderful - would love one myself! The leopard wouldn't be my choice.

Blogger Milt-fresh_best-dressed said ... (1:15 PM) :

DEF A TRUE STATEMENT! THIZ IZ MORE ABOUT STYLE THAN FASHION. LOVE HOW THIZ FEMALE WENT BEYOND CONVENTIONAL STYLING AND PUT A YELLOW JACKET AND A LEOPARD OUTFIT TOGETHER. TWO BOLD PEICEZ THAT MOST WOULD WEAR SEPERATLY, COMING TOGETHER IN HOLY MATRIMONY

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:41 PM) :

That is a LOTTA leopard print, but she owns it, therefore it's somehow rather attractive. Very cool. Perhaps she was channeling Gaga.

Blogger Angela R Miller said ... (8:14 PM) :

I would like to have a cocktail with this woman. Such verve!

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:50 AM) :

That's why I always cart a bright yellow umbrella around for rainy days.

Anonymous Kar said ... (2:15 PM) :

Maybe in Paris leopard doesn't mean "Cougar." I love how she matches those shoes (who has STRAPPY leopard heels?) yet she knows that the splash of green totally set off the outfit.

You don't always need to use a spot of red.

Blogger Vanya Du Toit said ... (4:50 AM) :

I just bought the same colour coat on Saturday and I'm wearing it today, it truly does brighten up your day! I paired it with a chocolate brown t-shirt over black leggings & pumps and a long vintage necklace made of polished bone.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:31 AM) :

The leopard print on its own would have been obnoxious but ironically, the bold yellow jacket tones down the print. Again, this isn't about the clothes, but the bright uplifting colors against the drab clothed commons amidst the cold shadows.
