He look so cool..I love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:38 AM) :

I love his watch!

Blogger Emme A said ... (7:41 AM) :

Would be perfect without the cross and the bracelet. Less is more.

Anonymous Amber said ... (7:41 AM) :

I love his waistcoat and turquoise bracelet - he seems slightly transcendent...

Blogger Emma said ... (7:41 AM) :

It's incredible to see your pictures of Japanese people, young or not. They seem to be as little self-conscious as possible. If only we French people could be less stiff!

Anonymous Lisa said ... (7:44 AM) :

His accessories say it all,

Blogger Miss Molly said ... (7:50 AM) :

ok i need those glasses in my life!!! love!

Blogger Fabiola "Fab" said ... (7:52 AM) :

Clean look, love the glasses and the turquoise bracelet!

Anonymous Naomi said ... (7:53 AM) :

I really love that watch he's wearing and the round specs. I need to find round specs!

Anonymous Christopher Gloria said ... (7:53 AM) :

I don't know, I just can't get into most Japanese style (clothing-wise). They mostly just look like frumpy monks. I reckon that it is nice to see a look that is quinessentially theirs though. It seems like most of Europe, U.K., and America the photos could be of people from any of these places.

Blogger Lemon for breakfast said ... (8:05 AM) :

He reminds me someone I can't remember! :)
He looks pretty good! :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:17 AM) :

this gentleman is well-being personified.

but on other shots: japs are far-out. really crazy. love 'em for that.
good thing they're finally getting rid of that school-girl image (or is it western stereotype?).

Anonymous Kelly said ... (8:20 AM) :

I love the details of his bracelet, necklace etc. He looks like someone who would give 'good conversation'

Blogger erin nuts said ... (8:22 AM) :

I am absolutely in love with this. so simple, so easy; could be a very thought-through clothing choice for the day or the "style uniform" of which he puts on some version every morning. but whichever it is, those glasses and jewelry just make it so perfectly considered. the semi-precious/silver and the canvas give it sort of a native american flair too, which is cool and unusual.

Blogger -LiMwAiLuN- said ... (8:26 AM) :

absolutely love the cross he's wearing along with the watch!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:30 AM) :

Clean. Worst part is he knows it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:32 AM) :

your tokyo shots are so refreshing from the usual london/new york/milan street shots!! i love it :)

tokyo is brilliant - love people-watching, especially at the starbucks in tsutaya book shop, ropponggi. its outdoors and everyone is so fabulously chic.

Anonymous Luxeat said ... (8:35 AM) :

Nowhere in the world i have seen so many stylish people like in Japan.. If you have time, Kyoto is also definitely worth visiting..

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:35 AM) :

white like semplicity!!! i love it

Blogger davidikus said ... (8:38 AM) :

Great picture! All white is bo-ring but the blues of the hat and watch and the red of the cross make the photograph! Thanks for sharing.

Blogger Mona said ... (8:39 AM) :

Your pictures from Japan are amazing. A mix of crazy and more subtle styles.

Blogger Rebekah said ... (9:00 AM) :

This gentleman has to be one of my favorites from your subjects! His style is, for lack of a better word, FABULOUS! The glasses, his hat, the white on white with the hints of color in his accessories! Oh my!

Anonymous The Photodiarist said ... (9:06 AM) :

Beautiful. I disagree with Davidikus when he says that all white is boring. I think that it is simply gorgeous but the touches of blue do make it even more so.

Blogger Sunshinemom said ... (9:30 AM) :

That reminds me of my FIL!!

Blogger BlumeBloom said ... (9:30 AM) :

Oh!
While I have enjoyed your other pics from Japan, this one really hit home. I wish I could pin point exactly why.

Blogger www.danielatordi.com said ... (9:39 AM) :

I absolutely agree with Malf:this (who actually is very elegant) would be perfect without the cross and the bracelet... Less is difficult, less is beautiful, less is... what we really need.

Anonymous Maija said ... (9:42 AM) :

LIKE!

Anonymous Ruddy said ... (9:44 AM) :

oh my gawd! I am dying over his amazing bracelet with turquoise. I have been trying to find something like that forever. Anyone know a store that sells pieces like that in NYC? contact me!

Anonymous taka said ... (10:05 AM) :

great picture. like all the japan pictures so far, none of them are really posing for the camera or are poseurs. japanese are aware of who they are, even if they often hide behind clothes and the character they choose to project. no westerner can understand this and usually stick to the usual harajuku, roppongi stereotypes...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:12 AM) :

This is the best-looking man yet. The Native American jewelry is just the right and subtle touch to his white clothing.

Anonymous lizzy said ... (10:13 AM) :

Oh my! He is one fly man.

Blogger TheMinx said ... (10:46 AM) :

this is fantastic, I'm so loving your japan shots.

Blogger THICK AS THIEVES said ... (10:59 AM) :

This is your best Tokyo pic so far. The other ones are too "Fruits" (magazine) as if you were just looking for the craziest outfits you could find that day, which in Tokyo is not hard to do. Overall, underwhelmed with your Tokyo pics but keep them coming. If you can find it check out OLD HAT in Harajuku off Meiji Dori, about 20 feet from the Levis store on the 3rd floor behind Teddy Burger, it will be one of the most intense and awesome mens vintage stores you'll ever see.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:57 AM) :

Great outfit (white with just a splash of navy blue- such a timeless yet refreshing combination), but, more importantly, what a remarkable face! Without the glasses I could see him starring in a Japanese version of the "The Old Man and the Sea"

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:03 PM) :

Nice!

Blogger The Follower said ... (12:07 PM) :

How lovely, such natural style when he isn't even aware of it. Beautiful combinations of cream and white and perfect, simplistic accessories.

Anonymous impotenta said ... (12:10 PM) :

I like very much this style. I also like very much your blog...you have some very interesting photos:)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:26 PM) :

Oh, love this look! This is more like the Tokyo I remembered - or chose to remember. He's universally stylish yet distinctive as an individual. He doesn't try to be weird-different (weird enough to be on a Japanese game show).

Blogger Duk Ren said ... (12:35 PM) :

I like Tokyo fashion so much. Because it's really fun to see how they dressed up, we can smell freedom from them and their fashion makes me smiling! =] They are not the same as Europeans and others. What making them cool is they are just being by themselves not copying others. It's really important.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:39 PM) :

It's nice too see really new kind of fashion. It's sole refreshing pics. Thanks for sharing Tokyo fashion.

Anonymous Emma Howard said ... (12:39 PM) :

Sea of Japan personified

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:48 PM) :

He is beautiful! Love the white on white, with hints of navy, turquoise and red. So serene!

Blogger TMorgan said ... (12:52 PM) :

I'm literally hyper because of this picture - that look! Please stay in Japan - I'm a huge fan of all its fashion!

Blogger Malena said ... (1:10 PM) :

Pure perfection! I'm speechless...

Blogger JV said ... (1:13 PM) :

Blogger Aimless Dreamer said ... (2:42 PM) :

Hello, I have a question that I hope you see this comment to answer:

When you go around the streets of the different countries, and you see someone that you want to take a picture of, how do you approach them? Do you tell them who you are? Do you hand them some kind of form, explaining who you are? Or do they generally agree to get their photo taken because they're flattered that you're inspired by their outfit?

There are moments when I'm inspired by what people wear, and I want to take a picture of them, but I don't want to appear as creepy. Suggestions please. Thanks.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:46 PM) :

I like it.
I had some concerns that your pics would be still bit stereotyped "Harajuku kids snap" of first-timers -- felt "And thou Mr.Sartorialist!"
But needless :)

In the Streets...Jay Love Japan

RIP J. Dilla

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:10 PM) :

I love white on white, because the textures become important. And that hint of blue at the wrist and on his head make it snap.

Blogger gem twin said ... (4:21 PM) :

my favorite street style shot this year--thank you!

you must be having a blast!

Great style

Blogger FindingFashionland said ... (5:07 PM) :

Fantastic totally great!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:22 PM) :

Love all white! The way I see it the accessories are representing the elements surrounding the white as Air, the turquoise as Water the red on his neck as Fire and the cobalt blue cap as Earth. He has achieved a crisp energized look.

Thanks for a great blog! You have an amazing eye.

WOW! Awesome sartorialist!!!! And his watch!!! Marevelouse!

Blogger Kathleen said ... (9:07 AM) :

This man is HOT from head to toe, I love to see tonality taken to the extreme, then finished off with the perfect accessories. I sometimes feel like a fish out of water, because I've always dressed this way. Black, charcoal, grey, chocolate, brown, tan, taupe, beige, cream, slate, white AND a ton of fabulous accessories. This gentleman makes me feel right at home! The simple pure cotton from head to toe topped with the blue beanie, and the native stone almost "hippie" kind of jewelry is so slick. Love it!

Blogger Maryda said ... (3:18 PM) :

Very cool looking guy. Age is not a barrier to coolness. At least that's what I tell myself.
