I'm drawn to this shot. Got to love the classic shades and the seersucker bow tie. I say that is along with his playful and edgy look that put's a spin on seersucker. Overall it is your subject swagg that puts the 'new spin on seersucker'

via a personal experience. I had my tailor make alterations on a seersucker suit amongst other items. She always saves the extra fabric for me. I happened to stumble across extra seersucker fabric via the pants she recut. It made an excellent pocket square. 'recycle - save the fabric'

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:30 PM) :

This might be my favorite photo I've seen on your site! It makes me believe that this man has a keen attention to detail and a calm, collected personality- someone I'd want to be around. Everything seems so perfect for him- the glasses, suit, tie, facial hair, hair cut. great shot!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:33 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:36 PM) :

The glasses are Ray-Bans, back in fashion, now they come and many colors, mine are red. Love the picture of the guy. But, his style is fussy, waxing mustache and hair, knotting a tie...I would love the suit and tie if his face a do were more relaxed.

Anonymous The Red Velvet Shoe said ... (7:39 PM) :

Wow.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:41 PM) :

Glad we have a fashion blog that is not about fashion victims. Infact, this is a blog about stylists rather than fashionista.

Keep up the good work, Scott!

Blogger Ian said ... (7:55 PM) :

The glasses are not Persol because they do not have the arrow on the sides. They are possibly a more boutique brand like Cutler and Gross, but Italian.

For me, the haircut, little twirl in the mustache and the bowtie make it. I mean the mustache twirl truly adds "a new spin."

Blogger Stephanie said ... (8:05 PM) :

So nice to see a well groomed beard and moustasche-- lets the dimple out, accentuates his jaw line, yep, a foxy gentlemen in seersucker--who'd a thunk it!

Blogger Eugenia Woods said ... (8:25 PM) :

Nickelson Wooster, Men's Fashion Director at Bergdorf Goodman.

The man is one of the most stylish men around.. Pity, he cropped his hair short again...

I feel that his grooming is such an integral part of all his looks.
It takes gives all his looks a sense of "badass" or "Sprezzatura"

You could take a picture of what he is wearing everyday... Always an inspiration.

Prepidemic featured him last week too.. Link here

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:44 PM) :

Seersucker suit and bowtie and STILL looks like you wouldn't want to mess with him. This look exudes personality and nothing is better accessory than a curled mustache. Awesome!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:14 PM) :

I love the look, and wish I could find items like that is Seoul readily, I don't see the "new spin" angle. Blue seersucker suit's a classic. Seersucker bowtie with seersucker suit - nothing new. Is it just that he has a beard and mustache that makes it new?

Blogger CW said ... (10:22 PM) :

A seersucker suit is not unusual. The combination with the seersucker bow tie is, as is wearing a bow tie with a spread collar shirt. It is almost a cutaway collar.

I think that you posted a photo of this man before he adopted this haircut. I do not think the haircut works as well for him as one that is more layered down the sides.

Anonymous Lukas said ... (10:45 PM) :

love this, i actually wore a similar suit yesterday to my cousin's wedding.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:55 PM) :

I disagree. He's trying WAY too hard, it looks like he woke up EXTRA early to plan what he was going to wear, too "matchy-matchy", forced and contrived.

Anonymous John Wesley said ... (11:59 PM) :

With those dimples, who needs the upturned 'stache?!! (just a little too affected. )

Hair, glasses, beard, seersucker It's all working.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:42 AM) :

There's something wonderfully "off" about the suit & tie combination--it's classic, but I keep for the tie to spin around or something. (Must be the funky optical effect the stripes create.) Dig the teensy handlebar 'stache, too.

Anonymous needle+thread said ... (2:01 AM) :

no reflection of yourself in the lenses... classy. also, so fastidiously groomed, and that little twirl on the ends... such a touch of personal, stylish whimsy. as always, your eye to detail astounds. thank you!

I love his look in this photo. And after looking at other photos I see his style as classic yet still forward and edgy--especially more so because of his age, (as much as it pains me to say this).
Maybe--just maybe his sunglasses here are a little too small for his face, being the style that they are.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:40 AM) :

a little too much going on. reminds me of the saying - once you've finished dressing, before you leave the house, remove at least one piece from your ensemble. in his case, maybe 2.
that said, he would certainly make me smile on the street.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:55 AM) :

Was he wearing dark shoes or white bucks with this?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:46 PM) :

I think he looks awesome. I'll bet he was sockless. I like it when people pay such attention to details, the moscot lemtosh sunglasses, the bow tie, the twirled ends of the mustache. This is summer, but with a twist.

lovely photograph, i know it´s about his suit and all but i just love the way you can see the reflection in his sunglasses!

Blogger J. said ... (8:16 PM) :

Maybe not a Moscot Lemtosh, but definitely a Tart Arnel copy (or maybe even original). This is the style favored by such great Sarts as Misters Depp and Dean. But my favorite element is the straight bowtie, very Mr. Browne...

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:24 AM) :

Looks like he is hiding a smile. Nice look, but I've never been a fan of the bow-tie.

Blogger Lin said ... (2:29 AM) :

Wow wow wow! Were the pants the same fabric?! Everything together is so interesting - his mustache, those glasses, the pattern. Inquiring minds want to see the rest of him!

Anonymous Garrett said ... (2:49 AM) :

Just a heads up on the glasses.
These glasses are by a company called Tart the style is called Arnell. They are made in America circa 1950. However its very hard to find an originally made Tart Arnell. They were remade in the 90's by Tart and we have about 10 at A. Kinney Court in Venice. But we don't have it in black. And its not exactly what Johnny Depp wore because he has the original.

Many companies have copied this frame, and only a few have copied verbatim minus the quality. But just so you all know, There is no mistaking that this is a Tart Arnell frame, no doubt about it.

And lastly, if your in the know enough to read the Sartorialist or hip enough, then get over these glasses. This style is late at this point. Beautiful, but mainstream now.

Ciao,
GL

his bowtie should be dark navy blue silk to pull his outfit together, it looks like he is in disguise or that he is trying to mess up a tv. Is this modern camouflage?
